- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21On a related not, this will be the ad they run.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1xXNoB3t8vM - aston127, on 10/12/2007, -12/+27has it honestly gotten to the point where the fanboys are looking forward to the advertisements of the apple products they want blindly?
- noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Shrimpdesign, if you own a Mac, look on the back or underside. I guarantee you'll find the FCC logo somewhere there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17I wasn't going to watch the Oscars, but now I am.
2 years ago I attempted my first suicide, and while I was in recovery I bought my first Apple product. It gave me the will to live and helped me to become a productive member of society. I would never even think of killing myself now, if only because I would miss so many glorious products that Apple will bring us in the future. - octowussy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Free advertising for an advertisement. Way to go.
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Errr, yeah, remember all those articles that got dugg up saying there would be a Beatles-related commercial during the Superbowl? I'll believe it when I see it.
- M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"Because they've never aired ads for a product that wasn't shipping yet"
Really, what about the original Macintosh? - circusbred, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11How the ***** is this news?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I concur. Digging on gossip about TV ads and when theyre going to air is ***** dumb. Digg has turned into a pussified version of The View or Entertainment Tonight or some trashy gossip show.
- Nogger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The idiotic thing is: the summary says "there was nothing at the super bowl, oscars are the next big chance apple might take". With this verdict, the headline obviously has to make it a fact: "Apple to advertise iPhone during Oscars".
What a ***** is this? What is this pulled-out-of-the-arse speculation doing on the front page? - spaghetticode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4just like the superbowl ad right....wasnt that a big hit.
- jdoggxperience, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Steve Doocy, is that you?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw6LBbeXTww - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Finally, a real reason to watch the Oscars. We need more news about upcoming advertisements.
sarcasm. - 1Bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Previous 5 comments
Oh lord, is this some botspam? - zdiggler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oscars are so over rated I won't be watching it.
- inkhead, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Young people are main demographic for the Oscars actually, broomett, I don't know what research you did, but since I work with a company who does all the research 90% of the people are age 18-26. Also, one of the reasons young people watch more is because anyone who lives in los angeles (about 10x larger than new york) probably works for a film studio, or knows someone that does, and therefore here watching the Oscars is just something you do to support your friends and family who worked on the production of such and such. For example if your movie wins an award, and you were just a set builder, the studio usually throws a party, gives out bonuses, and generally makes a huge deal about it.
Also since Steve Jobs is the majority share holder in Disney, who owns ABC, I'm guessing he probably got the commercial for discount. - aspirinetu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3then let me say, 18-26 generation is already wasted
- cgruber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2young rich people
- macamatition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
I agreeeeeeeee - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, piss off, you humorless arses.
- misshapes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In case anyone wanted to know, it just aired 10 seconds ago.
- iMatt_G5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just saw the ad. Its a bunch of quick clips of actors answering the phone. Then it gives the tag line "Hello, coming in June."
- gback2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There will be no direct advertisement for the iPhone during the Oscars. But some of my friends in the industry say that when Al Gore accepts his Oscar for "An Inconvenient Truth" he will whip out an iPhone and press a button and all of a sudden global warming will decrease by 1 degree Fahrenheit. You can not buy advertisement like that!
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3How does blatent Apple advertising like this end up on the front page and stay there? Is Apple bribing folks to post this stuff, or has it gotten to the point where Diggers can't tell the difference between news and viral marketing?
Crap like this needs needs it's own option under the "bury story" menu. Maybe they should call it "Diggvertising". - haveblue34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0direct link to HD clip:

Holy ***** do you suck. Way to pull a Michael Richards there.
/nymac247 - ross., on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I'm sick of comments like this...it was obviously news worthy enough for you to open the page..If you're not interested, don't waste your time reading about it..MOVE ON!!
Some of us are actually interested, or it wouldn't have been DUGG! - sekhui, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it took you this long to figure out how to post a story with "apple" in the title?
- zdiggler, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Buried as Apple Spam.
- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is stupid, no one watches the academy awards. If they'd ran a superbowl advertisement at least they would have received a decent number of viewers...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5nyc..Fine. Just realize that you will be aone, and will be laughed at...as usual. NO ONE ***** cares about this phone. Only the extreme of the extreme fanboy. IT will be way more Mac than iPod. Meaning, just the losers will have it, not hte masses.
- caworden, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2this site is a hoot..or should i say the community.
front page...wOw!!! - xgunterx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hello mom, look what I won!
- aptiva, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5...what?
- LGgeek, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I agree with first part of your remark but digging you down for the "gay *****" remark.
no I'm not but the comment is uncalled for in the context of the thread. - S1L3NTC, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10And why would anyone other than an Apple fanboy care?
If you're waiting to spank off to the latest Apple commercial, then you seriously need to find a hobby that gets you away from your iLife for a few hours... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Waste of money. Apple's market is supposedly the young hip crowd. They don't watch the Oscars.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+12I'm glad that you can insult something by calling it gay.
Are you a *****?
"/sarcasm"
***** - NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Hmm...so if someone kidnaps you and you miss the Apple ad during the Oscars, you'll lose the will to live again?
- LGgeek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Seems to me Apple always runs ads for products that aren't shipping and then can't deliver on the success of that campaign.
I think the iPhone will be different it's success depends on how cingular prices the plans not Apple ads. - breadfred, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5yes
(this was where it was supposed to be...)
ok dig me down again - Tmacman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Hello Front Page (first time)
OK guys, digg me down...... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If we're lucky...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6hmmm
You are saying that the contacts and calendars on your smartphone sync OK all the time?
Or maybe you already have a groupware server in your office that PERFECTLY pushes to your phone?
Or are you not someone that actually uses ... say... a treo who is looking for a more elegant solution?
The visual reference to voicemails alone is going to save me HOURS every month as I check them between clients... - rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Noreturn
"if you own a Mac, look on the back or underside. I guarantee you'll find the FCC logo somewhere there"
No dude, he scrapped it off day 1 to make it look more l33t - redxii, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3A phone that explodes? Wait 'til Homeland Security hears about this...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Yea of course I would get dugg down for putting "gay *****" because if it's not the apple fanboys digging you down on here its gotta be the fags.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+10APPLE IS GONA ADVERTISE A PRODUCT!???!?! OMG
FRONT PAGE NEWS!!!!
/sarcasm
Who the flying ***** cares? Stop posting gay ***** on digg. - breadfred, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0yes
edit: dig me down wrong post - bigbwai2000, on 10/12/2007, -22/+8This is huge. iPhone is the most anticipated Apple product since... what... the Macintosh? The iMac? The fact that Apple is advertising it before it's available is pretty significant. Hey, any chance it'll be available starting this Sunday?

What is Digg?
