You have until... right now. - username7410, on 07/07/2008, -0/+13Yes. Although any developer using Digg for crucial deadlines doesn't deserve to have their app available on launch. Der.
- leontes, on 07/07/2008, -2/+13I want an online/offline calorie tracking app, and I'd pay good money for it. I want a geocaching app that gives both gps or celluar tower location getting data from geocaching.com, and I'd pay good money for it. I want a shopping list app, that automatically tells me the cheapest priced version on amazon/google checkout. I want an app that will let me update iphone photos to facebook. I want a gasprice app that will tell me via my location where the cheapest gas is. I want an app that will tell me an new app has unusual interest in it.
- runCMD, on 07/07/2008, -0/+5you missed one ...
I want an app that lets you take a picture of a product box - or barcode - and then it figure out what the product is and tell you where to find the best price for it. It should also offer a 'save to wanted list' or 'discard' if you change your mind. It would also be cool if it could 'know' where you are when you do the price-check and tell you how far you have to drive to get to the lowest priced local retailer. - inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+6This post sense about as much makes the article summary does. English learn more.
- cam0man, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5hoping that a grammar checking app makes the cut off....
- leontes, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4I don't tend to watch videos or whatnot over edge and I only check my email manually, but do read a lot of things like googlemaps, digg, facebook and whatnot, and usage still comes out to about 75-150 megs a month. I think one time I had 200 megs. You should be fine if you aren't using 3G with 400, unless you plan to to watch a lot of videos or like waiting around for high bandwidth websites to download.
- thesledman, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3Not sure if this is right, but when I check my usage it says sent 29.2MB received 322MB. I have never reset the phone and I got it right after the price drop. Because of edge I tend to not use the phone on sites that need lots of bandwidth. I check email constantly (every 5min) and get a lot of it, but don't watch youtube or chat. With the new phone, 3G and GPS I imagine that my usage will go up considerably.
- Zippo, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3As a Canadian hoping to purchase an iPhone this coming Friday (yes, even with Rogers' ass-tacular plans...), I'm wondering just how much bandwidth people actually use on their iPhone... I have WiFi access at home and work, and at most of my friends' houses, and where I live doesn't have a 3G network just yet (Rogers plans on implementing one here later this year).
So, for all the 2G iPhone users out there - how many MB/GB do you guys use on a monthly basis? I'm wondering whether or not I can get away with the crappy 400MB plan, or if I should get the less-crappy 750MB plan. - jonthebishop, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I am working on an online/offline calorie tracking app that should be out at launch or within a few days. Details should be up Friday as the details are still under NDA right now. My company has a massive database of nutritional information on generic foods and restaurants it will connect to and get updates from.
- MikeSetera, on 07/07/2008, -2/+4You don't have to be an apple fanboy to bury that ***** of a comment..
And why would you have an iPhone if you hate Apple? - AndrewWiggin, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I wouldn't waste the extra $15. Just be careful with your usage: download apps and attachments from wifi and that will pretty much save you there. Plus Rogers will send you a notification (probably a text) when you are either 75% or 80% of your limit so if you get that notice, all you have to be is careful.
Not to mention that I'm pretty sure that you can upgrade your plan later on if you need to. - Zippo, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Cool, that really helps. I don't call people all that much, so 150 minutes is really more than enough call time for me... and visual voicemail doesn't count for minutes... and I might send 10-20 text messages a month, so 75 is more than enough...
Thanks, now I won't waste an extra $15/month. - inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+3Put the date in the title instead of that garbled nonsense.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2"According to an e-mail seen by Ars, developers have until July 7 to submit their iPhone applications if they want them included in the grand opening of the Application Store. Coders have until 12 PM PDT"
One more day, more or less. - jonthebishop, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1The NDA says we have to keep it a secret until Friday. See my shout.
- joshuamorgan, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Hey, the guy's trying -- he recently made '10 Steps to Becoming Fluent in a Language in 6 Months' one of his favorites.
- homercles337, on 07/07/2008, -2/+3Never gonna happen Apple is both a Corporation and a Church. Im sure they would be filing for tax exemption soon if the macophiles were in charge.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -9/+10Your engrish cud use some fixxin if get what some it because it sounded sorta that strange
- leontes, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1That sounds really great. Do you mind letting me know the company name so I can look you guys up on Friday?
- gles, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1That's hilarious!
- GreenWolf21, on 07/07/2008, -1/+0nerd
- noogymmij, on 07/07/2008, -2/+0In that case... What the ***** good does this post do? Oh hai. Not that it matters, but behind the scenes all the apps should have been sent in. If not, you'll never know the difference anyway.
Almost makes it more tempting to bury. - noogymmij, on 07/07/2008, -3/+1"Hopefully, it will make sure users won't have to wade through a cornucopia of crap to find something that fits their needs. "
Surely it has nothing to do with the money Apple will be getting, the fact that they have to control what apps are allowed to be used on the iphone (att would be pissed at voip apps)... Nah. They are working to improve my experience. What a load of *****. - slingr, on 07/07/2008, -12/+2i want an app tat will turn my iphone into a nokia n95/n96
/buried by apple fanboys - homercles337, on 07/07/2008, -11/+1Oh joy! Another apple post by one of the followers in the Church of Apple. Do you machophiles *ever* get tired of advertising FOR apple. Shouldnt their products be cheaper because they get so much free advertising at the hands of their blind followers?
- Red1Delta, on 07/07/2008, -14/+3Apple does this Apple does that...seriously stop letting a corporation control your daily life.
