- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While I like my MP3 player I didn't need a 20, 10, or even 4 gig one. So I bought a shuffle, and it has been exactly what I needed. This size is perfect for me, and doesn't feel bulky at all. And yes you can use it like a thumb drive. It's a great little thing. I love it.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@SmeRndmGy, a screen I don't need. I know the order of all the songs that are on there, thats a perk of having smaller storage space. You can play songs straight thru the list, shuffle is just an option. Last I counted it had 5 buttons total. Know your product before you start spouting dumb crap out.
- HAKdragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The_Monarch, the shuffle is a flash device, but you can put files on it like a thumb drive.
SmeRndmGy, you can play the songs in order if you wish. There's a switch on the back that toggles between shuffle and striaght through. - djits88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Likely? I haven't seen one article that states that this story is even close to being accurate. Not a single person outside of Apple knows how many Shuffles have been sold. I looks like a rumor site dreamed this story up and everyone is running with it. There is a big market for shuffles, like my wife who only uses it when she does her daily run. To her, anything else is excessive. I know many other "older" non-techie people who love the shuffle.
- willij, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really wish I had one. I would use it just for Podcast.
- cal0001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's small and easy to grab and go. i also have a 30G iPod Photo as well
- npacheco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gg apple.
- meatstack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got a shuffle for my wife, because this is the woman who thinks checking email is technology challenging. the Ipod/tunes combo cannot be more simple for her to use. Say what you want about a device not having a screen etc...but I think there's still alot more people in the world like my wife, than like us.
Anyhoo, she's hot when she has the earbuds, dancing around the house :) - The_Monarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for clearing that up for me adml_shake and hakdragon.
I certainly see the Shuffle in a new light but I doubt I'll get one.
I like my fat 20 gigger and soon I'll probably buy a 40 gigger when I get the money.
Despite iPods being trendy they do indeed sound great.
I think it could use some improving though..
I don't necessarily like the scroll wheel.. I prefer arrows. - manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I own a shuffle in SPITE of the trendiness of the iPod - yes, I am a little miffed over every jackass on the street owning an iPod of some sort and thinking that somehow qualifies them as a "techie" or in any way a modern tech-savvy person, but I'll be damned if that isn't a damn good sounding mp3 player that doesn't weigh down half of my pants like my CD player used to. With my CD player I never needed a screen, and all I listened to were mixes of all of my other CDs - the shuffle just takes the concept of a mix CD to the next level for me. But I don't wear the white earbuds because I don't want to contribute to the trend (yes, I am a little vain, aren't we all?).
And given how awesome this little device is, how trendy Apple is (and I for one think that in some way they do deserve it), the fact that the $99 price tag breaks the psychological $100 barrier (you know as well as I do that seeing two digits makes people automatically think of something as affordable) and the fact that these are sold at WAL MART, it would not surprise me if, for at least a few months, as many as a million shuffles were sold. - The_Monarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I really don't see the idea behind iPod Shuffles..
I'd rather listen to what song I want to, when I want to.
Meh, I guess it's cheaper.. Soo..
Oh, does iPod Shuffle have a hard drive you can put other stuff on? - SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2you can buy a small flash based mp3 player for less than the price of an ipod shuffle and it will have more features than the ipod. like a screen, the ability to play songs in order, and more than 2 buttons. people just the ipod shuffle because it's apple and trendy and white.
