It has been explained, time and again, that an algorithm decides when stories get promoted. This takes into account things like the relative popularity of the category and how many users digg the story in a given time period. As well, new users (say registered that day) do not count as much (this of course stops people from signing up 48 accounts on one day and shilling their submission, well does not stop it, but lessens the impact).
Why people seem to think there is some kind of conspiracy about any of this is beyond me. If you do not like a story, do not digg it. - kymehra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1jadenguy said "is there a de-digg?"

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If the Video iPod is driving Apple's 1Q profit, that means that Mac hardware sales must be way down....this is just a positive spin on the fact that nobody's buying Macs...existing Mac users are waiting for Intel, and Windows/Linux/freeBSD users don't care. (There's been a little "bump" in sales as Mac fanatics buy Mac-minis to play with)
