Apple's iPhone will be released on June 11

news.com.com — Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn't have any additional information beyond that.

We're all on here complaining about the PS3 being up there in cost and we're praising this phone before anyone has got a chance to actually use it. Personally, being a Mac user, I won't touch the thing until its on CDMA and down to at least $300. Until then Windows Mobile and Missing Sync are my friends.

I wouldn't worry about bugs or anything like that, as any hardware updates will be higher resolution, more memory, or something along those lines.

I'll wait until my T-Mob contract expires in a freaking year and a half, and see how things look then. I love the concept but I can't afford it yet.

I may make a trip down to the Apple Store in Omaha to play with one later this summer, but I have no Cingular coverage so I can't get one anyway. If the rumors are true about Cingular exclusivity only being 2 years, then that's nice timing for when my current contract goes up, so I can switch to whoever around these parts gets the iPhone in, because I'm not holding my breath for Alletel, but who knows...

I seem to find that touchpad devices are faily annoying to use and prefer actual buttons, but perhaps Apple has done an exceptional job in this area. We shall see, but I'm certainly not counting down the days when products that do the same thing are already out there...

Second, the phone that will break the iPhone's record will be the next (more economical) phone by Apple. Apple is sitting on a whole line of phones right now that are going to blow people away and there will be phones for all price points.

You just assume that all Apple fans think everything that comes from Apple is good. While it is true that most things from Apple are excellent (I don't expect you to agree with this), certain products were just awful. Also, we're talking about the iPhone here... don't bring your anti-AppleTV ***** to the table.

Use some logic. I bet you that the LG Chocolate has sold more than this thing will sell in a year simply because of the price difference.

      Not to mention a Internet "tech" phone that does not have 3G. What was Apple thinking? At least they included Wifi.

      Multi-touch - *yawn* while you're busy pinching your photos, i'm busy on my 8525 and its office suite editing documents on the go.

      Random access voice mail - It's a pretty standard feature built into move voicemail servers, and just isn't one that's often used. Probably because it's soooooooooooooooo hard to hit the skip button.

      3.5" screen - and it's still low res.

      Web browsing - Maybe the Apple phone allows calls from the stone ages so they can let everyone else living in the now know what its like browsing on EDGE.

      I've had mine since it came out last year, and i haven't had to reset it once. Crashes on Windows Mobile are the result of user error and ***** programs loaded onto the device.

      Second, the iPhone is currently (currently!) at too high a price point for a large chunk of consumers. So, it probably won't be the fastest-selling phone ever, simply because $500 is too much for a lot of people to lay down. Granted it'll probably be a success, but it won't shatter any records. Not to mention the fact that the whole multitouch-flashbased-widescreen-internet phone market will probably be saturated VERY soon, and judging by the concepts out there (hello, Onyx), Apple will have some catching up to do. Starting with 3G.
