- sjbdallas, on 03/02/2009, -29/+313Maybe because iTunes updater keeps trying to install it.
- Cloud7654, on 03/02/2009, -30/+122Almost 11%? And I suppose when they do hit 11% they will almost have 12%?
- ploke, on 03/02/2009, -0/+86not at all. A lot of IE use is in business where it is kept around for stupid intranet stuff that no one wants to update.
- killdashnine, on 03/02/2009, -42/+123Choice is good. Firefox is better.
- Beowulf2112, on 03/02/2009, -12/+91I've been using Firefox since 05, and I got Safari 4 just to try it out. It is certainly better than the older versions of Safari. Don't get me wrong, I haven't stopped using ff, but Safari 4 is a very nice browser
- hotsoda, on 03/02/2009, -10/+77I was going to say "but that doesn't force people to use it," but then I realized that's still a dick move on Apple's part.
- inactive, on 03/02/2009, -22/+76Microsoft slogan - "Where do you want to go today?"
Apple Software Update slogan - "You'll be having this software today" - rusty123jimi, on 03/02/2009, -19/+65 I like Chrome personally...and I'm so tired of iTunes updater trying to install the damn thing (Safari).
- LocalDocal, on 03/02/2009, -2/+43*Sigh*
From the article: "On February 28, Safari is listed with a 10.91% share..."
So that's where the 'almost 11%' came from. - LJSeinfeld, on 03/02/2009, -2/+43I love Firefox's extensibility, but Safari is way faster to render pages on OS X.
- rubaaan, on 03/02/2009, -5/+40it IS Microsofts operating system and comes in default. i dont see anything wrong with that at all. now you download itunes to listen to music and safari sneakily tagged along with it during the updates.. thats just retarded.
- timewarp424, on 03/02/2009, -6/+40I don't understand. I installed Firefox 3 on my mac, but it moves at a snail's pace. Loadup, interface, and displaying webpages. Safari until Firefox catches on fire.
- AppleMacStud, on 03/02/2009, -4/+38You're not alone. Firefox 3.1 beta performs really well on my Mac but I just enjoy Safari 4 so much more. I doubt I'll ever go back.
- rubaaan, on 03/02/2009, -2/+33lol @ applemacstud. i wonder why he didnt find this funny.
- doublem9876, on 03/02/2009, -11/+40Would everyone stop applauding Firefox's greatness here? On Windows, it's certainly a better alternative to IE, but on Mac, it's just kinda... clunky. And its not THAT fast.
- Burn, on 03/02/2009, -1/+29It proves that where users have a choice, more of them would rather use anything but IE. At work users don't have a choice so they use IE.
- inactive, on 03/02/2009, -6/+32Using Firefox on PC is fine. Using Firefox on a Mac is like using IE on a PC.
- krinn, on 03/02/2009, -2/+24Net Applications numbers are way out of line with every other survey I've seen. They are obviously surveying sites with some atypical usage patterns. They need to disclose which sites they're getting this data from, because these numbers are rather useless without knowing the source.
- mycoplasma, on 03/02/2009, -2/+23@AppleMacStud: FAIL FAIL
- Beowulf2112, on 03/02/2009, -7/+27Does anyone else find it a bit odd that IE use drops on the weekends and Firefox and Safari use spikes?
- smackydoodle, on 03/02/2009, -4/+23As a web designer, it is indeed not stupid.
- smackydoodle, on 03/02/2009, -1/+20they handle porn better
- InorganicMatter, on 03/02/2009, -16/+34Yeah, and IE7's share has exploded in the few years since its release because Windows Update keeps trying to install it on those old XP systems.
- inactive, on 03/02/2009, -5/+22Doesn't Apple have about 5-10% of the PC market share? Seems about right.
- p4r4d0x, on 03/02/2009, -4/+20Apple users generally shy away from Firefox because the interface is pretty bad.
I still use it because of the invaluable plugins for web development. - MightyUpsetter, on 03/02/2009, -0/+13safariblock you tit.
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/02/2009, -0/+12safariblock - well done for not even searching for it.
- outz, on 03/02/2009, -1/+13Does that make it right?
- Burn, on 03/02/2009, -5/+17I use a Mac and the only time I've used Safari is to download FF.
- freakstyle571, on 03/02/2009, -0/+12I actually may have just renounced Firefox with Safari 4.
On my mac it is incredibly quick. Though I do find myself missing Greasemonkey and a few other extensions. I wish I could get more search engines into the search bar too. I used the Wikipedia one all the time in Firefox. - inactive, on 03/02/2009, -1/+12FANBOI FAIL
- KyleJorgy, on 03/02/2009, -23/+34Safari is great I switched back from firefox.
- deadbaby, on 03/02/2009, -2/+12Safari 4 has proper zooming now. In the past it just increased the text size -- now it actually zooms.
- Julian88888888, on 03/02/2009, -2/+12I've been a hard-core firefox user myself (on macs) but this new safari version has really grown on me.
- kaintehdragoon, on 03/02/2009, -0/+10You will never hit the front page, you're a spammer.
- PsychoDeli, on 03/02/2009, -0/+9I use FF, Chrome and IE. I have installed Safari 4 beta and I really like some of the features.
My one great wish is that all browser makers agree to an online favs storage sollution so that I can switch between browsers and have all my bookmarks ready to go, in the browser I'm using. - Hockey13, on 03/02/2009, -2/+11@kelly
What the ***** are you talking about? Do you even know what a monopoly is? - tama00, on 03/02/2009, -3/+12I dunno anymore the gaps are closing pretty fast.
Chrome and Safari are now pimping with the speedy webkit and since Safari 4 both have WAY faster javascript engines.
Sure IE is still in the dust but really extensions are the only thing that firefox has going for it now. That and the GUI is generally more preferred and familiar on windows PCs. Although Safari and Chrome kinda went the same way with their GUI and if that picks up, then for the user that doesn't care for extensions Mozilla may be topped. - RobotBuddha, on 03/02/2009, -0/+9Last year a large client made me ensure everything worked correctly with IE 5. It wouldn't surprise me if there's still people chugging along on windows 3.1 out there.
- leamanc, on 03/02/2009, -0/+8More safely, that's for sure.
- alais, on 03/02/2009, -18/+2610% just don't give a damn
- artey, on 03/02/2009, -3/+11Yes, I've switched to Safari 4 from FF. Safari (is made for and) works great on OS X, not sure about windows. I personally feel that it looks CRAP on windows. Well, I'm happy with Safari 4 with its Inspector, and the Glims plugin.
- phoomp, on 03/02/2009, -2/+9Have you *seen* Windows try to upgrade IE to 7, or are you just making an assumption? For the record, users must *actively* choose to upgrade IE. MS does not try to trick them into doing it as Apple does.
- phrenzy, on 03/02/2009, -1/+8Wow, staticfire, are you TRYING to sound like a insecure 13 year old boy?
"your a fag"? Really?
How long do you have to use the internet before learning to be embarrassed of writing ***** like that? - doctordbx, on 03/02/2009, -1/+8I don't understand what's wrong with your Mac either.
I prefer to run Firefox, and have no problems with speed at all, not to mention there's something about Safari that just doesn't feel right. - mycoplasma, on 03/02/2009, -4/+11Works great on linux.
- specialknfnd, on 03/02/2009, -0/+6No...I'm pretty sure it's because a lot of people have to use IE at work
- WiseWeasel, on 03/02/2009, -1/+7Yes. Wanna fight about it?
- doctordbx, on 03/02/2009, -0/+6He has a point thought... AppleMacStud is quite an Oxymoron.
- ZippyV, on 03/02/2009, -2/+8The W3C has nothing to do with w3schools.
