- pyrates, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Again the same mistake is made about the Mini Display Port. Display Port may be an industry standard, but the mini version that Apple created is not. See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_DisplayPort - pyrates, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1If the Mini Display Port that Apple uses is not the standard, even though what is transmitted over it may be the standard, but the form factor isn't, then Apple will have created a proprietary form factor then and thus you can only purchase your converter cables from Apple and no one else. That means Apple can charge extra since they are the only makers of the cable that works with their laptops. See the problem now? It be like Apple being the only one who can make the ram for your macbook, and we know how much they over charge on that. Remember their proprietary dvi standard where the converter cable cost $300?

- fightzero01, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1it's not the port that matters, it's what display's it's compatible with. If DisplayPort is the future (post-HDMI), then Apple knows what they're doing. Anyways, I'd rather have a small port on my notebook and carry an adapter when I need to use a display or projector which is hardly ever for most people.
