- kevnaca, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22I guess you haven't found the extension cord in the box.
- MavRevMatt, on 10/11/2007, -11/+28Why is this news?
- blablaman, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17You see that little apple stamped on the side of the power adapter? That gives it the ability to make all stories related to it hit the front page of digg.
- filefly, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12"Umm... I'm looking at mine right now. It's not big at all."
That's what... she... said? - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Now if only they could make my MacBook Pro not get so blazingly hot. THEN it'll be perfect.
- melonhedd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10What is a Windows power brick?
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9does not fit in my laptop bag very well.
- zioxide, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11Meh.. it might fit in my bag better. But who gives a *****. The adapter for my old dell was at least 50% bigger than the old MBP charger.
This shouldn't be news. - CrazedGeek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Or, maybe it's because the 360's brick is seriously brick-sized.
The old power adapter is like the size of (forgive me for using this as a reference point) two iPhones on top of each other. Not that huge. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -5/+11I'm a Mac user, but Apple fanboys/enthusiasts can be downright douchebags sometimes when it comes to the tiniest things. Every time there's a product revision of little consequence or importance, it always seems to make headlines in the Mac community, and there are always people who are willing to shell out the better half of a hundred bucks for something as stupid as a 25% smaller power brick that will never see the light of day from behind their computer desk.
This really isn't news. - quazywabbit, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8yep. i love apple products but I have seen some apple fans just go all ape ***** when its not 100% perfect, like complaining about the screen not being flush with the body when closed and one side being slightly higher than the other as if the Macbook Pro was a piece of artwork to look at in its closed state. In the end it doesn't affect performance and when the lid is open it doesn't matter.
- VeganBob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6They fall out of the wall socket.
- cgreentx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Do you carry the 360 adapter around in your laptop bag? I don't even own a Mac and I consider this to be a good thing.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7That's what he said.
- Rkstar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Dammit. I just bought a new power adapter 2 weeks ago. Those bricks are so big... they fall out of the outlet a lot... and i carry it in my bookbag everywhere, such a pain. Wonder if they'd let me trade or anything.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Uh....didn't you get the extension cord with your adapter? There's one that sits between the wall and the brick and it should have come with the computer.
- spectre_25gt, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Being an owner of one of those gigantic bricks, I'm quite happy it made the front page. I've thought about getting an extra power adapter. This pretty much seals the deal.
- superalamar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6A great comment from a guy named ronpaulpres2008....
If you actually took time to look at the upcoming stories there is a good deal of apple news that doesn't make it. - captainjack1013, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Fedex delivered my MBP yesterday and it has the larger brick. Do I care? No. I used to have to rent a U-Haul to carry around my Toshiba's power brick.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4LOL, exactly. I mean, that's a serious OS when the OS itself needs its own power supply separate from the computer and the monitor.
- Scotepi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3um.. if your outlet cant hold it in you need a new outlet
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3laptop power adapters are normally expensive, although honestly Apple is on the high-end of the scale. And Radio Shack doesn't carry anything that can push out 85W, or do they have anything with magsafe connectors.
- rcran, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3ShrimpCrackers, I'm with you on that one. Even the older powerbooks get TOASTY.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8Its Apple. If someone posted "Steve Job takes a Poo", it would hit front page.
- ab2650, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2And...? Dell wants $84.99 for a power brick for my 6 year old portable. And its no where close to as small as the Apple brick.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I hope so. These days, I believe no news is good news.
- turquoisefish, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I had two of the smaller adapters for my MacBook, both stopped working with the frayed end by the MagSafe connector. The Apple store replaced it with the 85W adapter, and it really is big (I use my laptop at university so carry everything back and forth).
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Maybe, but i don't get Lobbsters argument. He said it like all the Apple fans were constantly bashing the size of the 360s brick but i don't think that's ever been the case.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2have you not seen the 360's brick?? i mean, the mbp's adapter isnt THAT bad in size, it would help with portability which some people are looking for. Also i wonder how much heat this will produce as the current one is reallllly hot (at least mine is at times)
- freonchill, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2rather have a more stick like shape to it
like 99% of all other power adapters - cgomez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No it's not. It's a little bigger than an iPod.
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5because some significant percentage of digg users also own an apple laptop? you're not the only person on Earth.
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's the most important thing to happen today.
- sinembarg0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Maybe you have a MacBook and not a MacBook Pro, because the MBP bricks are 85w vs. the 60w of the MB, and they are a bit bigger.
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2it's convertible, you can turn it into a normal brick that sits on the floor. although honestly it seems to benefit from hanging off a wall and staying cool.
did anyone claim apple invented it? I think it's just that they made the one they had smaller now, so now their macbookpro is a little bit nicer now. - cherwilco, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4am I the only one that thinks 80 bucks for what is essentially a power brick is a complete and total ripoff? (theres probly even a radio shack equivalent that could be used for much less!)
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Why would Apple users have any reason to complain about the size of 360s power brick?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Toxic chemicals? I feel much safer now.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1We've been at this whole electricity thing for quite some time now. Why do people still unplug things by pulling on the cords? How long does it take for people to learn something?
- OrangeTide, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3It's called having a high percentage of apple users. it's not some kind of organized conspiracy invented to annoy the anti-mac crowd. Some of us have Macs and want to get some news about them. If you don't have a Mac you can not digg the articles and not post comments about them. Rather than raging about them. weirdo
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That was funny! Take that Apple Fanboy!
- dackerman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's odd you should get that checked out
- smokeonit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1not true! i'm using my 3rd power brick!!!! with my powerbook 17" i never had a brick fail in 3 years!!!!
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Actually, it's another thing you carry around in your laptop bag and the smaller they can make it, the better. If they shaved 0.25" off the laptop, you'd be happier, too. I'm glad someone's actually working on making these things smaller. Now Apple just needs to make a magsafe car charger.. or license out magsafe so SOMEONE can make a car charger I can just plug in.
- carve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1First, I'm sure Apple would prefer you to call it the "iWart".
Second, this is more important than many are giving it credit for. I was about to buy a Sony SZ 13.3 4 pound computer...until I found out the power supply weighed a full pound. The Macbook weighed 5.1 pounds, which seemed excessive until I found out the power supply was only a half pound. Laptop power supplies should be tiny since people usually take them with them, and the whole point of a laptop is to be compact. - meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The magsafes seem a lot more reliable than the powerbook cables. I went through about four of the old style in the same time as i've gone through one magsafe.
If you're not talking about the powerbook chargers, then where do the wires fray on the magsafe? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Why is this news ;-) I thought Apple fans love to give up their money to Steve Jobs
- bigbird, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Crap, and I just bought one monday.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Ever see the brick on a 30" Apple Cinema? It's nearly the size of a MacBook.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Perhaps there are a few Apple folk in the world that have 360's for gaming? Kinda fits the whole "you cant game on a mac" argument.
