Sorry for any typos! - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -23/+181Yep. I'm unimpressed. The prices on the iPod touch are still outrageous. Looks like I'll be trying to snag one of the 160 GB iPod Classics before they disappear.
- anks329, on 09/09/2008, -12/+165Where is my background push notification??
- Brutis, on 09/09/2008, -27/+162..........Yawn
seriously, nothing great here - Kinnkster, on 09/09/2008, -3/+118Damn apple for not coming up with some new products in the last week after everything got leaked!
- Hortnon, on 09/09/2008, -24/+128An Apple announcement about an overpriced and unimpressive product? Never! ;)
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -11/+112I'm so old I remember when Apple used to be in the computer business. Now it's all cel phones and shiny, over-priced MP3 players.
Where's my $800 laptop, Steve? I've been waiting an awfully long time now. - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -19/+120Apple is overrated. Organizing a big event like this for two or three minor upgrades wasn't necessary....
- tbredofsin, on 09/09/2008, -3/+100The "funnest"? What's the target market for the Touch... Recess?
- lotus22, on 09/09/2008, -11/+96http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
iTunes8.dmg - quomen, on 09/09/2008, -4/+86On Windows, iTunes is still SLOW.
- rotorrocket, on 09/09/2008, -7/+87Rocks Us.... to SLEEP
- Burns7007, on 09/09/2008, -7/+78I was expecting a giant dinosaur to jump out and start dancing! Oh well.
- Bisclavret, on 09/09/2008, -1/+73i'm kind of disappointed they didn't increase the capacity of the ipod touch.
- MScrip, on 09/09/2008, -1/+68I'll probably get dugg down for saying this... but maybe the reason Apple has 75% of the portable media market is the fact that they DO have these events, press, marketing and commercials.
Their products are bright and colorful so they look good in Best Buy. I'm sure having 9 colors for the new Nano is gonna make them sell more. And they have TV commercials... real TV commercials!
When is the next Sansa or Zen event? I haven't seen commercials for them either...
Apple has been over the top with marketing the iPod for the last 7 years. By the time other manufacturers started making products better than they iPod, they were too late because everyone was already in love with the iPod. - MCA2142, on 09/09/2008, -1/+66Because iPhone is subsidized. The initial price for the iPhone may seem cheaper, but after a 2 year contract, it costs much more than the iPod Touch.
- rauz, on 09/09/2008, -3/+67After waiting for almost an hour for Genius to work through my library all the recommendations it could give me was for other songs by the same artists. I need to stop listening to obscure electronic music and learn to like rap I guess.
No I'm not trying to come off as a pompus ass, just saying that it doesn't seem to work as well if your taste is slightly off the beaten track. - D4M4N, on 09/09/2008, -12/+73Genius in fact only works on songs SOLD in itunes. which for us Trance, and house junkies is useless so Genius sucks.
also how about automatically removing double songs where the same file is listed twice (not song but the actual file). laggy scroll on vista 64bit yea apple purposely made this. - kitsua, on 09/09/2008, -29/+90Was kinda hoping for a 32GB iPhone. Oh well.
- snverhallen, on 09/09/2008, -4/+64If the bugs are fixed I'm happy. In my opinion, first get the OS right then add features.
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -1/+59In some jurisdictions it's illegal to shake your pod in public.
- vault, on 09/09/2008, -14/+68why?
- duerra, on 09/09/2008, -1/+53$3 per TV show episode for something I'll probably only watch once or twice, and can usually watch for free in HD on the network's own web site, and is otherwise totally encumbered with DRM, making it so that I can't stream the video from TVersity to my TV via my PS3 unless I have some proprietary Apple hardware? No, thanks.
- kuuuli, on 09/09/2008, -0/+48I heard the new speakers and the button will appear when you install the update.. I guess we'll have to find out..
- ZephyrNinety, on 09/09/2008, -10/+54Wow, Genius actually works fantastically
- petebot, on 09/09/2008, -4/+43my umbrella ella ella a a ella ella a a ella ella a a ella ella a a
- Hortnon, on 09/09/2008, -7/+43***** Digg
- Hortnon, on 09/09/2008, -5/+39You can probably see where I'm going with this. The point is, I hate Apple's proprietary systems.
- Hortnon, on 09/09/2008, -5/+36Wow, Digg cut me off 3 times in a row. Real comment:
Meh, drivers are what, 500k apiece? When 250GB hd's are sub $100 these days, are 10GB OS installs that big a deal? I've got 1.5TB storage just in my desktop that cost me - theblueprint, on 09/09/2008, -4/+34Allowing OS X to be installed on any hardware would solve the $800 notebook issue, but it wouldn't really be beneficial to Apple or it's current users.
If you're "nerdy" enough to care about the OS, you're nerdy enough to pirate Leopard. I doubt that Apple would see much of an increase in sales of boxed Leopard, and would only see gains from pre-installs.
Current users reap the benefits of a limited number of hardware configurations. Everything works flawlessly (generally) and re-installs are a breeze. I don't have to dedicate hard drive space to thousands of mobo/video card drivers that I'm never going to use.
I've paid the "Apple tax" and *love* my MacBook Pro. When it comes time for another computer, I'll gladly "overpay" initially to get the absolute best PC experience (imo). - kuuuli, on 09/09/2008, -0/+29kinda wonder how the "shuffle to shuffle" function will be like... People walking around, shaking their pods.. The streets will never be safe again...
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -5/+34so he can listen to that song by rihanna on z100 AGAIN
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -4/+33Apple sold more computers last quarter, than any other quarter in their history.
They still have more quiet market share to grab before they have to give in to the 800 laptop area ;-) - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -0/+26We weren't meant to know about most of this. It's your own fault for reading rumors which became fact...
- Heiliger, on 09/09/2008, -2/+28Slightly off-topic... but does anyone else find the Genius button on the iPod Touch's UI repulsively large? Am I just a design snob?
And... I double-posted. Bury Bury Bury. - LawSchoolBound, on 09/09/2008, -0/+26The 160 GB used two platters in the harddrive. This new one uses 1 120GB harddrive, just like the new zune. They apparently decided it wasn't worth having dual platter option and just went with the one. Probably because now people who are getting the classic are using it primarily for music and not that many people have over 120GB of music.
- Hortnon, on 09/09/2008, -6/+31Meh, drivers are what, 500k apiece? When 250GB hd's are
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -2/+27i wanted a free 200 gb iphone with zero radiation
- mbonzo531, on 09/09/2008, -31/+56Thats it? We already knew all this.
Disappointing. - spoonchucks, on 09/09/2008, -8/+32Here's to hoping they ***** the interface lag!
The worst part of a firmware update release is the final hours at work until quitting time... - NyteStarNyne, on 09/09/2008, -0/+24Yeah Apple needs to search and destroy the mole(s) they got. Everything is more exciting when unexpected.
- crowbar77, on 09/09/2008, -1/+25Yeah i was hoping to see the 32gb at the 16gb price point and a 64gb model.
- jaymulder, on 09/09/2008, -3/+25If everyone in the world had a credit card to get an apple id. I'm just a kid and they are denying me functionality from their free software?
- skeletorcares, on 09/09/2008, -2/+24[muted trumpet] Waa--Waa.
- web2pointYo, on 09/09/2008, -7/+29boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom, boom sha boom...

- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -5/+27why not?
- Ratatosk, on 09/09/2008, -10/+31guys.... did you see on apple.com
"iTunes 8 - Rediscover your music"... that's exactly the slogan amarok has had for ages.... so stolen! - Kinnkster, on 09/09/2008, -1/+22Not to the most original slogan in the first place...
