- HunterTV, on 11/15/2007, -0/+36And you get Safari 3 too.
- perre, on 11/15/2007, -0/+28It looks to me like Apple is doing a better job of documenting their fixes.
- newbill123, on 11/15/2007, -0/+22Wow, forget what I wrote above. Apple has included Safari 3 in the 10.4.11 update for Tiger. This is a very welcome change!
- Rice, on 11/15/2007, -1/+15This is somewhat sad for me. Tiger was a solid OS, and this appears to be its last non-security update.
I'll miss it. - snookums, on 11/15/2007, -0/+12Wow! I downloaded the update this afternoon, and I have to say that I noticed an immediate difference. Safari is working great with digg not. No more pinwheels when I open an article.
- xGrill, on 11/15/2007, -1/+10i miss tiger now :(
- chrisbarr, on 11/15/2007, -0/+9As a web developer I'm very glad about this. I realized after I upgraded to Leopard that I now had no way of testing my sites in Safari 2, and now everyone will eventually have Safari 3, which is great! (Except those people who are still on pre-Tiger systems...oh well)
- Vector713, on 11/15/2007, -0/+8yes, but if they back up their claims with real results.. does it matter?
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -1/+9The update includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, the company said.
That's what they always say! - oneoverzero, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7You believe wrong.
- diggimator, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6It's their ploy. 10.4.11 destroys your Mac so that you wished you have had Time Machine.
- usingpond, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5Seriously? Fixing bugs is a sign of a newer version's failure?
So I guess Apple should just pretend Tiger doesn't exist anymore. Also, you know how DX10 is Vista only? Yeah, the equivalent of that here is Safari, except Apple isn't a bunch of lying douchebags and gives it to Tiger users for free. - edebolt, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5I tried installing 10.4.11 over top of 10.4.10 and it hosed up my MBP so that it would not boot. Said launchd was missing. Ended up installing from disk 10.4.5. Lost the whole afternoon. Might try .11 again. Maybe something on my system was corrupt. Hope it does not happen to anybody else
- MacParrot, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Here is a link to two Dashboard Widgets that almost every Mac user should have. The Application Update and Widget Update widgets. Application Update widget allows you to set paths to other folders where you might keep applications as well. Widget Update...um...updates widgets.
http://blog.gkaindl.com/downloads/ - diggimator, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3New to Safari 3? Try pulling a browser tab down to get a thumbnail of the page you're at.
- MonkeyFarts, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3Actually Apple just released an update for Panther today.
From: http://www.macworld.com/news/2007/11/14/panther/in ...
"Apple on Wednesday release a security update for Mac OS X 10.3.9 client and server.
Security Update 2007-008 is recommended for all users and improves the security of several components, according to Apple. Affected components in the update include AppleRAID, bind, CoreFoundation, Flash Player Plug-in and Foundation.
The update is available from Appleās Web site."
I'm sure Tiger will continue to be supported for some time to come. =) - PeteyBugs, on 11/17/2007, -0/+3Got it - check out the fix (without reinstalling the OS) here -
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID ... - bedouin, on 11/15/2007, -0/+310.4.11 broke Pithhelmet again. Hopefully a workaround will appear soon.
- pinchies, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3This update includes all the latest security updates so you know..
- nakile, on 11/15/2007, -0/+3At least Apple isn't showing off Mac OS X 10.6 already.
- jkgm, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2As if it needs to be said again...
If you have trouble with things breaking (like widgets or drivers), install the COMBO update! - boozedrinker, on 11/15/2007, -3/+5Leopard isn't solid?
- mattcurrie, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2So did Safari 3 final come out with Leopard? Or is it still "beta". Any news about the Windows version?
- ucg1, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2Apparently you aren't very good at communicating your thoughts
- kevdotbadger, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2Wish me luck. I'm updating.
- gmprunner, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2Your problem is common: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID= ...
- MacParrot, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2Funny, could have sworn that Apple also still releases security patches and updates to 10.2 and 10.3 as well. Guess that means that 10.3 and 10.4 were failures? Or.....could it just mean that a company (almost any company including Microsoft) supports their software with needed patches as required? Nah, that's just crazy talk!
- ThreeDee912, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2I'm using Safari 3 right now. Seems speedier...
- stalefries, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Try holding option down and hitting the little X that pops up on each one. Then re-add them.
- sudowrestler, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Good thing you aren't, then, and thus can avoid making such a doofus remark.
- zgeorge, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2Uh... if your Mac won't even boot. Time Machine helps squat.
- Sid0101, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2Yeh, same problem here.
- Niightwitch, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Try repairing the disk permissions.
- anti_hax0r, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2all you have to do is downgrade
- MacParrot, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Not sure why you got buried unless some people hate to see someone happy with the latest Mac OS on older hardware. I have a 933Mhz iBook with 768mb of Ram and it's running faster than under 10.4 as well. The only two problems I've had has been "Back to my Mac" not working (which is one of the reasons I wanted 10.5) and some older shareware programs no longer work. Also when I installed iLife 08, the new version of iMovie wouldn't load (but I despise it on my main machine anyway). Saving up for a MacBook Pro as my next purchase, but this almost 5 year old laptop running the latest OS is rock solid until then.
- MIC4311, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2Some my widgets wont update. Weather and espn sports. I'v ever tried to refresh them manually. Nothing. Am I alone?
- ibookfast, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1weird, why the buries? love how you can refresh to the same place, not the top of the page.
- MacParrot, on 11/15/2007, -1/+2Sounds like people should hold off on updating until some of these issues are solved. As with anything of this nature, make sure your data is backed up.
- chrisbarr, on 11/17/2007, -1/+2very very fast! I actually had to stop using Firefox for casual browsing because of it.
- mintshows, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1..
- diggimator, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Windows version of 3.0.4 came out the same day according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_%28web_browser ... Apple's website still says "beta," but it's much more stable than a few months ago. http://www.apple.com/safari
- kevdotbadger, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1..and safari has crashed about 4 times.
- kevdotbadger, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Well, my airport problems seems to have stopped.
- Terc, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Yup, I was going to say, my parents still run 10.3, and when I'm home for the holidays there are always updates waiting to be installed.
- inactive, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1you tosser
- ThreeDee912, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1You can do a full system restore with Time Machine via the Leopard install disc, if needed.
- mintshows, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Same problem here.... I started the update...left to get some coffee...when I came back my MBP was locked up. I was forced to shut it down, then surprise! Nothing.... won't even boot to single user mode...never seen that happen before. ....I'm now doing an archive / install from the OS X install disk.
- etx313, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1Ok I'm going for it! :X
- robojames, on 11/15/2007, -0/+1are you folks using yaboot?
- PeteyBugs, on 11/16/2007, -0/+1Same problem here - boots to grey screen witha pple and spinning circle, and sits there forever.... Apparently we're hosed? If anybody gets theirs back up and working, post how, or a link...
