- VipeNess, on 03/04/2009, -9/+51I purchased an iMac 2 weeks ago, and the new ones came out today. Apple allowed me to exhange for new model today. Apple, Thank You for treating me like a real customer.
- Dr3w, on 03/04/2009, -2/+19Had to check, and yep, you're new around here... :)
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -4/+17But...is it shinier?
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -2/+14What else do you expect them to do while scanning for malware?
- benologist, on 03/04/2009, -5/+17Skip the pointless summary that doesn't even link to Apple and just summarizes what's on their site:
http://www.apple.com/mac/ - benologist, on 03/04/2009, -1/+11"How did this ever get the first 100 diggs?"
LtGenPanda blindly diggs everything his "friends" submit, they in turn blindly digg everything he submits.

- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -15/+24MACs are now much cheaper than they used to be. They're only $1000 per GHz now.
- 666dorado, on 03/04/2009, -8/+17why do people who obviously don't own a mac, never owned a mac or never intend to own a mac waste their time complaining about macs?
- dizavin, on 03/04/2009, -2/+9because that would require them to be happy with their own products enough to not notice.
- piznut, on 03/04/2009, -6/+13Oh well. Maybe the next refresh will be more exciting.. Come on Snow Leopard!
- 12012009, on 03/04/2009, -12/+18In other breaking news, several thousand companies worldwide have done a minor upgrade to their offered product lines.
How did this ever get the first 100 diggs? - Wilddigi, on 03/04/2009, -3/+9Bye and Good luck
- Wilddigi, on 03/04/2009, -2/+8Because they live in their parent's basement, don't have jobs and want everything for free
- DavidTurnbull, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6Yes, but it still can't run Crysis.
- Gee1004, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6MAC address?
- m00nstone, on 03/04/2009, -2/+7I don't know any regular OSX users that have chosen to move to Windows. I call fake.
- faster6969, on 03/04/2009, -0/+5If you had done any kind of due diligence, you would have known that a mac mini update was coming. You have no one else to blame except yourself. Be thankful Apple even gave you the chance after a month to replace it.
- AdamSnow, on 03/04/2009, -2/+6Who's Bill Gate?
- peterinjapan, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3Or pot legalization. Or Obama. Or Ron Paul. There are factions here, get used to it.
- slangmann, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3^^ EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS MAN
He likes apple and he isn't a freak who attacks people, instead he presented his side of the in a normal human-like manner, and politely told 12012009 to blow it out his ass.
I tip my hat to you sir, you give me hope for society. - digiguy, on 03/04/2009, -2/+5Just buy an external one
- Gee1004, on 03/04/2009, -3/+6More lame comments on an apple news story
- digiguy, on 03/04/2009, -4/+7Alot of stupid articles hit the front page. Filter it
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -1/+4I think what he means is, Apple can quietly release this notebook and its minor upgrades and only the rabid fanboys would start freaking out about how sweet it is and basically promote it for Apple. The differences between the two models do seem small, so its a valid point, that it may not be enough to get owners (of last years model) excited enough to want to buy it. Its certainly not enough to woo current windows users to switch.
- WhoDoneIt, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Surely you are referring to the cosmetic line when you spell it line that, correct?
- 7aji, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Don't you know?? Steve Jobs does the upgrades himself with a tiny screw driver. That's the only explanation for it!!
- tupperbacharach, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2***you are not your aluminum computer.***
An "instant classic" line! - bigsteve, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Apple has been promoting it zero years. Blu-Ray technology licensing is now simplified, and I suspect Apple and any others who've been waiting to adopt will do so now. Apple has always been a control freak when it comes to adopting technologies into it's "walled garden." If you don't like it, buy somewhere else, vote with your dollar.
- bigsteve, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2I don't know, they've been gaining market share steadily and continuously in just about every market sector for at least a year or two now, notebook sales vs. other manufacturers, browser usage, etc etc
- PrometheusBorn, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Someone needs to learn some basic math skills.
Or ease up on either the exaggeration or boring mantra 'Macs are expensive, hahahahaha'. - bigsteve, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Yea really. Not an Apple apologist or anything, just a self-proclaimed smart shopper. Any big-box retailer would have laughed you out of the store if you suggested you should get an upgrade return after 28-some-odd days, 10% restock or not.
- Radan, on 03/04/2009, -4/+6This is not breaking news, nor is it claiming to be in any way. If you are not interested in Apple related news, then I recommend you to filter them out, which is very easy to do.
I found this interesting, in fact, I specifically look after these kinds of news after each product refresh by Apple since they themselves don't raise any flags about it so this is the only way to know about what is new. - inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+2Yeah, who is this Gate person that you speak of?
- dizavin, on 03/04/2009, -4/+6"WHAT?!, don't be happy because a company treated you fairly!!! you MUST hate Apple because PC's are cheaper, even though the software that comes with or that can be bundled in on a mac that isn't available on a PC are the reasons you'd by a Mac.
the price is all that matters! you MUST not deviate from that!
if you can save a buck by switching to a different product that may not even provide the tools you need to get your tasks done, you HAVE to do it. the price is all that matters! you should go back and yell at Apple right now!" - Jem7vwh, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1They are pricing themselves out of the School Systems.
We are now talking Linux in our dept to save money on budget cuts. - soopafly, on 03/04/2009, -3/+4That's nice.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I moved for software reasons, Adobe supports Blu-ray authoring, Final cut pro does not, Adobe will work on less expensive pc's and more expensive macs. I picked the cheaper of the 2.
- Auzy, on 03/04/2009, -3/+4Dizavin..
1) All the tools available on OSX are available on Windows
2) The tools available on OSX don't even work that well in many cases. Like FCP has compatibility issues in many cases. And USB compatibility in iMovie is rediculously limited. Its why Final cut express has trouble selling, if its not a firewire camera, its probably not supported!
3) The new Mac Pro's don't even offer a quadro anymore, and none offer SLI..
4) OSX's strong points have always been movie editing, and photography. And now, check the blogs and forums, and even they haven't been too impressed with Apple recently. Apple's iMac screens have pissed off many customers who need color accuracy.
5) Which leaves home users as Apple's main crowds. Gamers wont want them because the video card offerings sucks which leaves general home users. Many of which are suffering the effects of the recession and are happy with a cheaper computer (they are the don't care crowd).
6) For a short time, there was no way to buy a webcam for OSX (when they axed the iSights, and UVC support wasn't available).
7) Apple sold OSX Leopard server where everything was buggy, nothing worked (and yes, thats the reality, I'm not making it up. Everyone who set it up agreed).
8) Apple also took much longer then everyone else for Windows 64bit support for iPod's (took them a year). People had to return their copies of windows because of Apple
Apple management has gone downhill recently, and they have stooped to even charging for an 802.11n driver. Apple USED to be good, but if I applied for a job as a manager there, I would change plenty, because Apple are reverting all the good things they did which led to the recent climb in marketshare. They now charge for everything, and have started to resort to distorting the truth regularly.
Furthermore, Steve sneaks in a lot of "semi-lies", like: "we patented multi-touch", or spaces is innovation (every other OS already had it). Spotlight!! (wow, windows and linux already had great implementations available). Meanwhile, Apple pretends OSX can't get viruses, and they give the impression that PC's constantly crash. Microsoft could initiate a class lawsuit between manufacturers to sue Apple dozens of times for deceptive advertising
So, I'll be waiting here for your amazing "tools" you claim OSX has which other OS's don't.. Please explain...And don't say aperture, because all of our customers actually preferred lightroom overall.. - ethana2, on 03/04/2009, -2/+3Hey you scrolling down the page clicking all the pretty little red buttons... Try the green one next to this post here, to, you know, switch it up a little.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2He didn't mention Windows. You can install Linux or Mac OS on an HP laptop.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Seeya, however the money i save on hardware lets me buy 3 times the equipment. My eyes are open.
you are not your aluminum computer. - theblacknight, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1And they're bigger, heavier, have a shorter battery life, and don't last as long. Some people like that and some people are willing to pay more for a laptop that's thinner, lighter, longer-lasting, etc. The wonderful thing about the free market is that no one is going to make you buy a Mac, and no one is going to make me buy Windows.
- manogamez, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Good stuff.
- CaptObvious, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I lolt
- surferjoemaui, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I Like Nice.
- videodroner, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1It made you reply.
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1wait - I'm guessing you don't need the minor improvements the new imac offers so why not wait?
- tupperbacharach, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1Apple products are not the thinnest/smallest, and they are not the lightest, nor are they longer lasting.
In fact, Apple uses mostly standard, low-end parts on the inside of their computers, with the only practical difference being the enclosure (which isn't that different and which is frequently more problematic than most PC enclosures. -
