- eShinn, on 11/05/2008, -2/+14"You look like an IBM type."
- UselessTrivia, on 11/05/2008, -1/+12IBM engineers a hell of a product. Combine that "hit it with a tank and it won't break" mentality with Apple product design, and that's going to be some awesome gear.
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -6/+16Yes yes Apple please hire more people for things like Phones, iPods, and other small gadgets, however please continue to skip past Pro apps like Final Cut Studio, maybe even looking into SLI Technology for stronger GPU performance for Pro's who rely on GPU performance, or even fix some of the Mac Pro problems.
Apple I know Blu-ray is a big bag of hurt, however not all of my clients want their final product to be on an Apple TV (of course you might want to look into fixing that to) they prefer a Disc, not a file.
So please continue to NOT do anything with Pro apps or pro hardware, continue to come out with laptops with no firewire, overpriced Monitors designed to only work with said new laptops, One piece construction and handheld devices, Us Pro's really need that kind of crap.
I wiped my Mac Pro and went with Windows and Adobe CS4 for PC and walked away from you Apple, You are now Bitter. - hansolo, on 11/05/2008, -0/+8Why downvote that? Obviously you didn't read the history of Apple and the interview between an IBM guy and Steve Jobs.
- jamesmcm, on 11/05/2008, -0/+8downvote? It's called bury here.... you redditor!
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -1/+9Husband of human resources lady gets a promotion.
way to think different. - CalcProgrammer1, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7It does scream quality products and durability though, my ThinkPad from 9 years ago is still running strong today, only thing I've had to replace was the hard drive and battery. If an IBM worker is in charge of Apple, he may fix the cracking case and probably find ways to make it last longer. IBM is known for durable and long lasting products.
- bpevans, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7And IBM is suing him over a noncompete agreement with IBM employment agreement...

- dajuggernaut, on 11/05/2008, -0/+6i feel complete apathy towards these comments.
- SilverRocket, on 11/05/2008, -2/+7A good sign. Presumably we'll be seeing acceptable battery life from devices like the iPod touch and iPhone shortly...
- cmsjustin, on 11/05/2008, -3/+8IBM doesnt exactly scream "sexy consumer electronics"
- ColorBlind, on 11/05/2008, -1/+6Welcome to the real world. Enjoy your stay.
- timusca, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4Time to change your username... but you argument doesn't make sense. You could have gotten CS4 for the Mac too, which has nothing to do with any of your arguments.
- Commodus, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Well, they DID joke that it would be great to hire every engineer in Silicon Valley...
- Murdats, on 11/05/2008, -1/+5won't that hurt apples plan of getting everyone to update their disposable devices constantly?
- alittleroy101, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4just like some people just HAVE to leave asinine comments.
- Chirp08, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3If you don't want to work with the formats Apple is invested in then switch (just like you did). We are certainly in a transition period from physical mediums to pure digital distribution which makes things tough, but nobody is forcing you develop for one or the other and you have control over what clients you choose to work with.
- jerkfaceirl, on 11/05/2008, -0/+3i did until I read yours.
- MortalynFlux, on 11/05/2008, -1/+3The type of person needed to lead a team to create a new, innovative product is a different type of person needed to keep things going efficiently, effectively, with quality, and at a profit.

- syda, on 11/05/2008, -3/+5This took quite some time to hit the front page, I read this yesterday morning. Dugg nonetheless.
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2I do wish I could change my name.
As far as CS4 for the Mac, fairly unstable on OSX leopard, CS3 was no better. I am seeing alot of problems on a daily basis working with Quicktime, The only reason I am even on a Mac was due to my choice years ago to use Final Cut Pro, which tied me to the mac. I no longer need to pay Apple tax for hardware, or software and can just use Adobe's products on Windows and be done with it.
When it comes time to upgrade the editing machines I will not buy Mac but will go with a Custom built PC instead. I was PC for years before switching to mac and welcome the change to something more stable. - inactive, on 11/05/2008, -2/+4AHHHH!!!!
Look at my hand held international business machine!
It ***** rocks the ladies. - Deejster, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Erm - Thinkpad? The most successful mobile computer of all time?
- astutissimo, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I want a Cell processor in a Mac, please.
- stygiansonic, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Pirates of Silicon Valley is a great movie that features this scene:

Despite it being a made-for-TV movie, I found it to be decent. - hansolo, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1my bad. :) I have both open at same time typically.
- Macintoshreader, on 11/05/2008, -1/+1@Murdats:
Then explain to me how my iMac G3 (from 1998) is still running like new and the only thing that has needed to be changed is the hard drive.
Explain how my friend's iPod Classic 3rd gen (from 2003) is still working like new and only required the battery to be replaced.
STFU, you troll. - eShinn, on 11/05/2008, -2/+2Just so you know. I voted for Obama, but this isn't the thread for it so I dug you down.
- Zippo, on 11/05/2008, -4/+4Here's hoping the new guy doesn't ***** up the iPod or iPhone.
- cubicledrone, on 11/05/2008, -0/+0Enjoy DOS. I hear all the popular people think Vista is Mojave 7 and the start button is circular now.
- franklymister, on 11/05/2008, -2/+1Because if anyone understands the unique culture of Apple and knows how to take the kind of risks necessary to thrive in the world of mobile, it's a guy from IBM.
/sadcasm - meghalc, on 11/05/2008, -2/+1This might be a reason to stop Jailbreaking of the Future Iphones/Ipods.
- Halligan, on 11/05/2008, -4/+3IBM does not know mobile. Hang on to your current and maybe next gen iPhone/iPod because if this guy brings any IBM baggage to Apples mobiles, Safari occasionally crashing on the iPhone will be the least of your problems.
- CyberStriker, on 11/05/2008, -4/+2Two words: MobileMe
- inactive, on 11/05/2008, -3/+1If it bothers you so much why did you buy them? Some people just HAVE to buy something.
