- serend, on 10/21/2007, -3/+93In other news Apple Store is hiring.
- totorototoro, on 10/27/2007, -2/+73Seriously, would you want to work with some ***** who not only got a free phone from their employer, but then turned around and tried to rip them off for another $100?
- ChromaVita, on 10/23/2007, -7/+43The description of this article is BS. Everyone knows iSlips only come in white, or black for $100 more.
- teqonix, on 10/19/2007, -4/+32Honestly, as much as I like to rag on Apple for bad decisions, I can't put this down as one of them. After a company gives you a free $600 product, and you turn around and knife them in the back by dishonestly saying you're a poor early adopter is nothing short of stupid and completely unscrupulous.
Have fun staring at your pink slips, guys. - Smiley09, on 10/18/2007, -1/+27"Apple has attempted to respond to our request for comment, but did not comment on the story."
How does this work exactly? - yikiad, on 10/18/2007, -3/+27what a bunch of dicks...
- andnever, on 10/18/2007, -2/+24in other news stealing will get you fired.
- Alegoo92, on 10/19/2007, -10/+28Wow... just wow. Partisanship rules your life doesn't it?
My and my republican ass waited in line on iDay just like the rest of you people :D - sockpuppets, on 10/18/2007, -1/+17They're on AT&T.
- rauz, on 10/18/2007, -3/+17Yes you do.
- AriaStar, on 10/19/2007, -2/+16They got the phones for free. The employees weren't out anything. Why do they think they're entitled to $100 on top of free phones? The phones were a nice, unexpected bonus. Talk about a bunch of greedy, unappreciative *****.
- takamalak, on 10/18/2007, -2/+15Must have been lonely for you. You know, to be surrounded by all those liberals.
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -5/+18Your life must REALLY suck. There is no way you can enjoy yourself constantly looking for ways to whine like a little bitch about politics over EVERYTHING.
- edwartica, on 10/18/2007, -6/+18iDon'tcare
- ronmexico, on 10/19/2007, -0/+12Stealing is stealing Jenny. Firing is appropriate for these people.
- mablco, on 10/19/2007, -3/+14i hope the "genius" matt at the apple store in costa mesa got fired. he's such a prick.
- setrusko, on 10/18/2007, -2/+12They deserved to get the boot. They should have gotten their iPhones taken away too.
- sjbdallas, on 10/18/2007, -1/+10Apple flavored of course.
- mykool, on 10/18/2007, -1/+10I wonder how many of them thought - "hummm they got me training a replacement, I must be moving up."?
- Konstantino, on 10/18/2007, -1/+9Buried for failure to properly perform any sort of "i" joke correctly.
- wiihuck, on 10/18/2007, -1/+9speaking of flooding the comments...
- REUYL, on 10/17/2007, -1/+8GTFO!
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -5/+12iSpent (your store credit)
- Konstantino, on 10/19/2007, -2/+8Wait a second here. Apple gives free iPhone to employees. Employees take advantage of $100 credit, regardless of the fact that they didn't pay for it in the first place. I'd say they deserve to be fired.
- daldredge, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7Unless you are the CEO of the company and the person you stole from was Woz.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6touché
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6Actually, most employees are such "at will", they can be fired for any reason at any time. Firing a retail employee is quite easy, legally.
- HOOKSTER1231, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6You hypocritical bastard! your flooding the comments more than anyone here! You are just spewing the same overy spaced out thing over and over!I think you need some time away from your keyboard there big guy.
- DiggMasterJ, on 10/18/2007, -0/+5Oh how the mind of a greedy ***** works! I bet that is exactly how they tried to rationalize their theft.
- daldredge, on 10/18/2007, -2/+7When Woz and Jobs first started they had a contract with a company (Atari I think). The agreement was that they would split the money from the contract 50 / 50.
Jobs then lied to Woz about how much they contract was worth and kept the extra for himself.
That is the type of man some on this site worship. - sullyz0r, on 10/18/2007, -0/+5Basically the same as "Refused to comment"
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6I would want to work with him so i could laugh histarically when i ratted him out to take the newly open supervisor position.
- imnojezus, on 10/19/2007, -0/+5I don't know if it was that harsh. They gave their employees a free iPhone, and the employees turned around and did something dishonest. They should be taken to task for that. I wouldn't want someone to work for me if they were effectively stealing from me.
And the procedures DID catch the problem. That's why these people are getting fired. - wiihuck, on 10/18/2007, -3/+7iKool-aid
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4That would be my guess, i'm sure they thought they could get away with it
- GiggleStick, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Order Word?
- airj1012, on 10/18/2007, -1/+5These employees obviously just weren't thinking. They tried to exploit the loophole that someone found to get some extra cash. I bet they never thought they'd get caught, but thats really not the point.
I think Apple did the right thing here, well at least they shouldn't condone these employee's actions. - ThatsUnpossible, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3In other news, Ars Technica infringes on iStockPhoto by using a stock photo they didn't pay for (check the watermarking).
- ZenMojo, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3"Refused to comment" sounds too abrasive. Seriously, it's Apple, even when they're screwing you you know they're doing the right thing maybe probably.
- shampoovta, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Is that why some refunds had problems? I remember a story about refund accounts or cards or whatever being empty when they were redeemed.
- ThatsUnpossible, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Coming from someone who obviously has never had employees............. "Not so fast, my friend!"
- SuperSneaks, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3Yeah I bet you love that wonderful Trojan.
- RogerStrong, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Well, that's *one* way to do a "voluntary" Reduction In Force.
- Alexandru25, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2***** for sure... It is very impressive of Apple to give 600 dollars worth of product to sales associates. ***** when I was in High School I worked at Best Buy.. I got nothing.
- PathDaemon, on 10/18/2007, -2/+4I can totally see myself working in an Apple store, a slow part of the day, reading about the rebate on Digg, and trying it just for fun to see if it would work. I'd yell out, "Holy *****!", call over my friends/coworkers and laugh about the situation. And, yes, I would probably spend it eventually... though I might still write an email to corporate to ask if they were aware of the bug.
- PathDaemon, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3And on the same note, you, my friend, don't appear to understand humor... or the whole iUsage in words.
- lonnieh, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3"don't flood the comments" but you posted that 5 times?
- PathDaemon, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2How many comments are you responding to with this?? Talk about flooding...
- NextGenXbox, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3Hahaha. PWNED. That's good that they get fired. Why would you be a douche and cash in $100 on a phone that you got FREE!?
