- dbking, on 10/10/2007, -6/+49i feel sorry for those who bought it yesterday.
- Veight, on 10/10/2007, -12/+45You whiny ass bitches really need to go find a corner to sit in and cry. No one cares that your dumb ass spent $600 on a phone.
- glasnostic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31damn.. tempted
- epistemological, on 10/10/2007, -5/+34Just spoke with apple store near here in Seattle, WA. They are refunding money on the difference, even if you bought it on launch day. Just bring the receipt in. YAY.
I would suggest in the future you actually do something more productive then spam digg if you are looking for any kind of resolution. That said as technology evolves costs will come down, if you could not afford the original price you should not of bought the phone. - monsterofNone, on 10/10/2007, -21/+45that's an interesting move. kicking every early adopter apple loyalist in the teeth. it's like saying "do you feel like those last two months of having an iPhone when no one else had one was worth $100.oo a month? cuz that's what it cost you." the message for early adopters is ... don't trust us. wait a year. or two.
and yes i am one of those spitting bloody teeth.

Free Shipping Too! - seans9, on 10/10/2007, -11/+32haha to everyone who bought it when it came out
- iMark, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26Gosh - just think how many people Apple ripped off with the original iPods. $399 for a 5Gb, a monochrome screen and a mechanical scroll wheel.
Hardware gets better and cheaper year in, year out. You pay what you think something is worth. There's little point complaining when the price falls. - FearlessFreep, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Given that so many were saying "wait...the price will drop"....
Congrats on two months of exclusivity - NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -3/+172-year AT&T Service agreement. Un-tempted.
- stellamaris, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Well if they did any research like a good consumer should, they would have known that today is a big Apple event and certain changes would probably be made.
- stormgren, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14"even if you bought it on launch day."
*****. - melessa, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14I just bought myself the 4GB!!! I can't wait for it to come! So happy i didn't impulsively buy it when it first came out! Thanks to Nomad83 for the direct link..i wasn't able to find it in the store earlier.:)
- monsterofNone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10turns out apple price protection covers up to 10 days from date of purchase.
- Radar3D, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You're in West Virginia. You have bigger problems, buddy.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Nothing, I suppose. It depends on what you need. I've been running on a T-Mobile To-Go prepaid phone for a year and a half, bought 1000 minutes when I got the phone, and still haven't used them all. I'm down to about 400 minutes. I don't need, nor want to pay for, a 2-year service agreement. I want an iPhone for the gadgetry.
- Eldoo77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Hmm... you agreed to pay the price originally. Just because someone else was patient and waited for the price to drop, doesn't mean you were ripped off. It means you guessed wrong and they guessed right.
- dignon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Looks like all the anti-Apple bigots out there have run out of things to complain about.
- andy2na, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7you can call customer service and get it pricematched. if you bought a 8gb refurb call in, the refurbs are 350 now.
- harrypl0tter, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13you are the dumbass and should have waited...but no you wanted a new product the moment it came out. You should know better than that...
- cleverboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yeah, if someone bought "yesterday", ain't no thang. Feel sorry for the people that bought it on the tax free weekend in Massachusetts two weeks ago. Them, you should pity.
- datechoon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Will appreciate if someone can answer these:
- Can I use iPod + wifi if I don't want to use it as phone (travelling or does not want AT&T data plan)? I know to use phone you need AT&T account but the question is one activated can i just use it as iPod touch later ?
- Is Starbucks wifi (new feature announced today) available for this 4GB iPhone too ?
Thanks, - Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I think most Apple customers would disagree!
the user's experience with an apple product is amazing! - glasgowm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8what the ***** are you talking about
- inkswamp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7> More Graphic Designers are switching to Windows due to better 3D software & hardware support.
Have you ever worked in publishing or graphic design? Designers are NOT switching to Windows. Beyond the abysmal support for postscript and color matching in Windows and the lousy font management (wherein fonts tend to go flippin' insane for no apparent reason) is the simple fact that most software and hardware support in the design and publishing world are either Mac-only or Mac-first. Just this last month, I oversaw the installation of a software update to a RIP that was Mac-only and I worked on an advertising graphic content system that was Mac-only. On top of that, most print shops are Mac-oriented (which means longer delay for Windows-specific print jobs and therefore missed deadlines.)
There may be some exceptions when it comes to 3D design, but if you're talking about design and publishing in general, you're wrong. Most designers do need Macs because that's the standard for their line of work. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Tenlow, seriously, 90%?
How do you manage that? I think you're just *****, and probably get them more at like 40% off, because Macs hold their value. But if you can get Apple products for 10% of what they were worth, then please explain to me how I can follow your methods. - york2600, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5And if you bought a 4gig refurb they'll credit you $150 if you call. That brings the 4gig refurb to $250. Not bad for a really nice phone.
- strax, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7With apple, you should always wait 6 months from product launch.
- andy2na, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5yes, you have to go download a software unlock to do so.
they said that the starbucks thing will be available soon to all iphones - spargett, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I just spoke to someone at the SF Apple store. Refurbs get NOTHING. If you bought a new iPhone within two weeks ago. You're all good.
Other than that... you're screwed, including me. Oh well. - Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7but I had it first!
- epistemological, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Thats what I was told by the store manager. That said I have no idea if this is a company policy or store by store. And it is a $200 store credit sent to me via email within 24hrs.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Curretly stuck in the Mountains of West Virginia on assignment, my Verizon phone, off network; my buddies Verizon phone, 1 bar/off network; second buddies iPhone 5 bars unflinching.
Tell me what is wrong with AT&T. - andy2na, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5$50 for 8gb refurbs, and apple refurbs are pretty much new.
- monsterofNone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4according to the online apple store... price protection covers all apple purchases for 10 days. so unless you bought it with a time machine on launch day... you'll see no refund.
- aamir2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Firstly if you are asking about using the iPhone while you are travelling abroad after activating the phone with ATT, yes you can use it just as an iPod and WiFi, you just need to make sure you browse only when it shows the WiFi connectivity and not make any calls. Otherwise make sure you confirm the roaming voice and data rates with ATT (these can be outrageous). If you mean you want to use the iPhone just as an iPod and WiFi device all the time, then you are better off buying the iPod touch, which requires no activation or activation hack.
About starbucks WiFi store, yes it will be available for the iPhone (including 4GB) as well, but it will be made available via an iTunes/iPhone software update later this month. - mercurysquad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If you're going to spam, spam properly. Not adding http:// means your link is not clickable. You really think people will copy-paste it into their browser's Address bar?
- epistemological, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I bought my phone just under a month ago. If you check the mac fourms there are many cases of people getting $200 credits. Though it seems to be a store by store at this point.
- AceTracer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Uh, NOBODY expected the iPhone's price would drop 33% for this event. If you had told anyone that Apple would be dropping the price 33% within 60 days they would laugh at you.
- Scott2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Got one! Hell yeah!
- MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If only it covered 40 days... Bastards...
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3then you will be just in time to buy it when the next version comes out.
- sleeknerve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3well, the link set me to the wrong one i guess, nevermind
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Got mine!!! Soho NYC its selling fast.
- icheese, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yeah,except a YEAR didn't pass between price drops it was 8 WEEKS. And,most Apple price drops occur when there is new product to replace the old and the $400 iPhone isn't new. if this were say,Feb. 2008 and the iPhone was dropping in price because the iPhone 2 is out...fine,that's expected. But that is not what happened here. And it's not like the price drop was what we typically see,$25-50..no..this is a $200 drop. Thats 3 months of ATT bills, thats the ETF for the carrier you left to join att. Thats a whole lot of something else. People can debate this all day long. The people who got a iPhone w/i the past 8 weeks will be called whiner s or suckers and the ones who waited will come off as smug know-it-alls.
Fact is,many of those who were so smart as to 'wait' didn't do so out of intelligence, they did so because they couldn't afford an iPhone at the old prices.
But,enjoy your time in the sun, brag about how smart and lucky you are. Brag about how for what we paid for our phones you can get a iPhone AND a new Nano. - spicytuna, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5now just need to unlock it, got one for development :)
- briankoenig03, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Only if purchased within the last 10 days. I received mine exactly 14 days ago and I am forced to go through the RMA (read:10% fee) process. I specifically asked about a credit and was informed that after 10 days the price credit was no longer an option.
- partch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I called and threatened to cancel my AT&T service and they gave me a $100 credit.
I figure, if I bought a phone that they attached a two year contract to, you bet I'm complaining if that phone is discontinued & the price drops 33% not two months after I "sign up". Anyway, if any of you guys try this I had to get right down to the cancellation pat before their rep offered up a Benjamin.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2$200 down from $499 is 60%, not 90%. 90% off of $499 is $49, and I doubt you'd be able to get an iPhone for that price.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I am really tempted for the same purpose. Are you sure you didn't agree to a 2 year AT&T just by purchasing the phone or by clicking on "I Agree" anywhere?
