- opticrime, on 07/08/2008, -2/+346Hello Apple My Name Steve Jobs. I forget mY password. Please email it to Me at asfj23rmf@discountmeds.ng.
- ChestRockwell, on 07/08/2008, -4/+215Maybe I should ask them to stop DRM'ing songs I buy in iTunes and see if they just do it.
- jalava, on 07/08/2008, -10/+186This is where Apple is going to get blasted really hard unfortunately. Who cares about secure OS if customer support is so helpful that they give out half of your services out to anybody.
- geoken, on 07/08/2008, -1/+99And I Micheal Dell. If want you good deal for Computer, email credit card number to me at micheal.dell@vrds.ru.
- frontporsche, on 07/09/2008, -1/+88Why "unfortunately"? Shouldn't they get blasted for security lapses?
- mikesbaker, on 07/09/2008, -1/+77maybe you should stop giving them money - seriously why pay for DRM?
- DangerDaz, on 07/08/2008, -2/+69Something loosely similar happened to me. The name on my ADC account wasn't mine due to a bug in ADC, so I emailed them asking them to change it. To my surprise they never asked for any sort of confirmation.
- Sonic84, on 07/09/2008, -0/+67everything is a lawsuit waiting to happen....
- Yashar, on 07/09/2008, -8/+63This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
- greenlight2001, on 07/09/2008, -0/+51Email sent! Thanks for the good deal!
- bluesngr, on 07/08/2008, -7/+46Truly chilling!
- ProdigalFather, on 07/09/2008, -0/+39I just emailed apple asking for my username and ID.
Regards,
Steve Wosniak.
Funnily enough, I got a reply saying that I, Steve Wosniak, am not welcome to a .Mac account. They then sold all my stock options 50% undervalue and drove me in a van to an isolated part of Nevada where I was thrown out the side and left for dead. Reminiscent of 20 years ago. - bassman12593, on 07/09/2008, -0/+36Not a lot of comments make me laugh out loud. Thank you for that =]
- Mastertone, on 07/09/2008, -4/+32Hey, I was in the Chicago apple store yesterday and watched something like that go down. A salesman went up to a Genius Bar guy and told him that someone was asking how to retrieve a "forgotten" password. I didn't watch the whole process, but I do know they didn't ask the guy for ID. I thought it was strange.
They did fix my Macbook though... - bugsysservant, on 07/09/2008, -10/+37Secure OS? OS X got hacked first by a day in a comparison with Linux and Vista. And now that more people are switching to Apple, several trojans have been detected infecting Mac users. Can everyone please just drop the whole attitude of "Macs don't get malware" just because the market share was too small until recently to attract attention to their users?
- jellygraph, on 07/09/2008, -0/+24That is unbelievably unprofessional
- Cloud7654, on 07/09/2008, -0/+23Mary! Beth!! ELIZABETH!!!
- basye, on 07/08/2008, -4/+27Well that's just too damn helpful!!
- chris9902, on 07/09/2008, -0/+22I get all my music DRM free but that's because I don't use iTunes.
win-win. - Quicksilver4648, on 07/09/2008, -0/+22^^^ Would you mind giving me the 3 digit code on the back as well? ^^^
- loper, on 07/09/2008, -0/+21sigh.
- MrTbone, on 07/09/2008, -1/+22Wait I will just give it to you now.
8766 7638 8734 1342 - MakinBacon, on 07/09/2008, -0/+20It's 1hatezGatez!
- radiantstorm, on 07/09/2008, -0/+19Has Apple never heard of social engineering?
- Hellman109, on 07/09/2008, -10/+23As a PC user Im lead to believe by mac fanboys that Macs NEVER break, infact the universe will collapse on itself before that will happen, and that mac store salesmen/geniuses (aka other salesmen) have god report to them.
Therfore, buried as a lie. - cheule, on 07/09/2008, -0/+13The last name is what differs. The name the usurper used was blanked from the story, but that is the one that differs.
- rustyrobot, on 07/09/2008, -3/+16asked
- 3amboo, on 07/09/2008, -7/+19ima go ask for steve job's apple id password
- MrSarcasm, on 07/09/2008, -1/+12If you live in the US, yes.
- The2DQuartet, on 07/09/2008, -3/+14Dear .Mac user,
Your password has been reset to something anyone could guess and your credit card number has been broadcast around the world.
Best regards,
The Apple Customer Service Team - tsunamisteve, on 07/08/2008, -6/+17Apple is having scaling issues :)
- khyberkitsune, on 07/09/2008, -0/+10Having worked for Apple, I say that's about par for the course.
- LeeSoong, on 07/09/2008, -0/+10Social Engineering - always the easiest hack:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/itdepartment/5cb5 ... - loper, on 07/09/2008, -1/+11If you boot from a mac install dvd there is a option to reset the passwords. It'll mess up your encrypted stuff but will let anyone with access to the install dvd to login.
- Pittance, on 07/09/2008, -2/+11Arrrr.
- ZER0JACK, on 07/09/2008, -1/+9Excuse me, what are you doing?
- AutoTom, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8BURRY THE REDDIT WHORE!!
- BackEnThaWomb, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8I take offense to that, you'll hear from my lawyer.
- mysedai, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7Theodore! Simon!! ALVIN!!!
- wphj, on 07/09/2008, -8/+15I pay for convenience, and a large percentage of the songs are now DRM free anyway. Seriously, if someone gives me a gift card I don't care that the music has DRM, especially DRM that is so easily gotten rid of.
- elmetald00d, on 07/09/2008, -2/+9it can be removed..
itunes buying is very simple and quick. that's why people do it - therightclique, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7Yeah, that's not true at all. Macbook Pros are several hundred dollars more expensive than their PC counterparts. Do the actual research and you'll see this easily.
- zebesian, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7What is the expiration date on that card? Visa or Discover?
- ManiacX, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Yes, it is very basic stuff. You just need your own smtp server. Done it before to play pranks on friends; works perfectly.
- unitedatheism, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7Yeah, they've told me that Macs are really cheaper than PCs back in Mars...
- PathDaemon, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7Unfortunately, due to Apple ID, the single sign on for everything Apple, that's not the case: with control of someone's Apple ID, you can buy songs on iTunes, initiate repairs (if you're a technician), access your MobileMe account, access developer materials, buy stuff from the Apple Store using saved credit card info, and more...
THIS IS BAD. - Kirizan, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Marsha, Marhsa, Marsha.
- Niightwitch, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7None taken.
- Pittance, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Apple has never heard of a lot of things. Including viruses and scams. Pat them on the head and let them go on being swindled.
