- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is stupid. Apple will not start designing other companies' products for them. If they created something of great success they would have to sit around and think "that could have been one of our products." Jobs is not stupid enough to do this.
- ujwal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The business of "consulting" is that you are much smarter than the rest of the crowd in ideas. You leave the implementation of those ideas to others. McKinsey is one of world's most respected company because its in the ideas business. And they dont sell their ideas cheap. Consulting can be very profitable if you are a Mckinsey of the Tech World. Apple is extremely smart in coming up with Product Design ideas in the hardware of software world. They wont feel stupid if their great ideas make great products that reach a wider audience than they could do themselves -- distribution and "long term" sustainance is not their strength. If it were Macs would not have 5 but 20% market share (atleast). Bottom line if everyone did what they are "smartest" at the law of optimizations would make everyone rich. McKinsey and Bain reap the benefits of that law. Apple too could. They have the stuff to do it.
