- valis, on 11/10/2009, -14/+138Apple's historic "1984"-inspired video advertisement has finally caught up with them. They have become their own villain.
- mlw4428, on 11/10/2009, -3/+82"There's an app for that."
They just won't let you run it. - brbeaird, on 11/10/2009, -10/+84Absurd. This sounds like a fantastic, educational application. Get over yourselves, Apple. If these representatives couldn't handle a silly drawing of themselves, then they certainly never wouldn't have made it all the way to getting elected.
- BradGroux, on 11/10/2009, -6/+62Yet Microsoft is still lambasted as "everything that is wrong" in the tech world. How people can be huge fanboys of a company that does crap like this is beyond me...
- whalefarmerjohn, on 11/10/2009, -9/+50Apple banned it for making fun of public figures on BOTH sides of the aisle, not just Pelosi. What a biased title.
- niradg, on 11/10/2009, -15/+54The iPhone is a closed platform. Apple can approve and deny at its own will. Free speech has nothing to do with it. If you want the freedom to buy and create what you want, don't buy devices that run on a closed, proprietary platform!
- peestandingup, on 11/10/2009, -2/+32Thats what Im saying. You all knew this going in. Speak with your wallets. Cause everytime someone buys an iPhone, you're basically saying you agree with their policies & to give you more of it.
Might as well just drop your pants, bend over & put on the anal lube yourselves as far as Apple is concerned. Cause thats what you're asking for. - getoffmybridge, on 11/10/2009, -2/+27You're a thought criminal.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 11/10/2009, -2/+25I absolutely despise Pelosi, but I don't see where it says in the article it was banned only because of her bobblehead; it seems like more of a general thing than just one person.
- gl77, on 11/10/2009, -2/+25exactly, time to buy a droid instead.
- ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -4/+25What does this have to do with Pelosi? She had nothing to do with it...you DID read the article, right?
- mark322, on 11/10/2009, -2/+21Guess they need to rewrite it for Android. I don't see any ***** rules like that in Google's terms and conditions.
- PopcornDave, on 11/10/2009, -0/+18Maybe Verizon needs to make a commercial with someone throwing a sledgehammer at an iPhone?
- wTheOnew, on 11/10/2009, -0/+15From an outsiders perspective though, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Apple would approve fart applications and then turn around and deny this...
- EvilJelloMan, on 11/10/2009, -13/+28Selective censorship? Read the ***** article, you partisan hack. It included everyone in Congress, not just Pelosi.
Incredibly misleading headline on this one. But that's no surprise. - chall2001, on 11/10/2009, -1/+16Understanding what you're commenting on must be a "hallmark of organized liberalism".
Why do you hate America? - theOster, on 11/10/2009, -0/+13there's a hammer for that
- Blinker1315, on 11/10/2009, -32/+43No surprise here, selective censorship at work. My younger son would've loved that Pelosi app as a stocking stuffer at XMAS.
- psullivan85, on 11/10/2009, -0/+11Well, I guess that puts an end to my healthcare-inspired Frogger game.
- krellor, on 11/10/2009, -7/+18Yeah, no way to start making an xbox game with the freely distributed XNA framework and SDK without calling ms first... Oh wait, that was driveling ***** leaking out of your mouth, I'll just forgo any further sarcasm. You can start making a game for the Live marketplace whenever you want. It might not get final approval, etc... but you can "even get start" as you so awkwardly put it.
- Bookant, on 11/10/2009, -3/+14Buried it for that very reason.
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/10/2009, -6/+17Dear Apple,
I bought an iPhone when they came out, but I certainly don't consider myself an "Apple Fanboy". For the most part I like your phone, and I have a handful of apps that I use on a regular basis. However given your seeming schizophrenia over how you decide what applications to approve and what not to approve I find myself growing less and less likely to ever purchase another iPhone (or an iPod) if you don't change your ways. Your behavior is driving me to seriously consider one of the many Android, Palm, or Blackberry phones simply because I can get apps on those phones that you believe your customers shouldn't have access to. Great way to induce customer loyalty. Oh yeah, and I have plenty of family & friends who look to me for technical advice. Consider them all to be lost potential customers of yours as well.
(Dunno why I even bothered with this since I know nobody at Apple will ever see this much less have any impact on them...) - tnoy, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12I don't see what the big deal is, he'll probably just make a flash version that you can... oh wait.
- yacks, on 11/10/2009, -1/+11This should be Banned for inaccuracy.... It's the whole Congress not just Pelosi..
- Loonacy, on 11/10/2009, -0/+10"Slippery slope. If they allow this, what about the next app that pushes the envelope a bit further?"
Sounds like a good idea. When can we expect it? - fuzzynyanko, on 11/10/2009, -1/+10Yeah, I stopped Microsoft hating in the late 90s when I realized that companies like Sony and Apple are only better to some degree. Okay, the fanboys didn't help with that either.
- PopcornDave, on 11/10/2009, -4/+13Dear IphtashuFitz,
While we appreciate your concerns, since there are still enough people lining up to buy our products, we really don't give a flying ***** about your opinion until our sales dry up.
Apple - MrEguy, on 11/10/2009, -2/+11Precisely why I have NOT bought an iPhone. I despise this company and what it is doing to censor artistic expression.
- mrpither, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8try searching for "obama" in the app store someday.
- acknotSW, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8I'd like an app where I can flick manure at members of congress who vote against the public’s interests. Maybe it should aggregate other users manure flicks and post the manure rankings on a website with images of each member buried up to the appropriate level.
- snotrokit, on 11/10/2009, -1/+8you are both correct.
- Gr00ver, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7I still have the originally released C64 emulator.. and there's now an update for it that "fixes" it. I'm choosing to ignore the update.
- FredFredrickson, on 11/10/2009, -3/+9What kind of a loser wants Apps as stocking stuffers anyway?
- ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -11/+17Yeah and they also banned a legally licensed C64 emulator...what's your point again?
- boogie606, on 11/10/2009, -6/+12F**K APPLE
- Laminarcissus, on 11/10/2009, -2/+8I really wish Apple ran the whole world, I'm sick of making my own decisions.
- nedzeve, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6And she grounded you for not making your bed, didn't she?
- diggbigwig, on 11/10/2009, -2/+7Blocked another "App for that"
- ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -6/+11Please explain Pat, I'm sure this will be fascinating.
- warcin, on 11/10/2009, -2/+7Apple has always been more "Evil" then Microsoft ever was. Microsoft was just more successful at it
- catalysis, on 11/10/2009, -2/+71. Find a story about congress.
2. Put Pelosi in the title.
3. ???
4. Freeper cirlce jerk - JasonCox, on 11/10/2009, -13/+18So wait, a bobble-headed Nancy Pelosi is bad... but Adolf Hitler's book 'Mein Kampf' is ok?
WTF Apple. - mikebrinkman, on 11/10/2009, -3/+8Apple bans all political apps. It's in the developer agreement.
- IneffablePolk, on 11/10/2009, -3/+8If you don't like Apple's policies, buy an Android based phone. Or a Palm Pre, those things look pretty snazzy.
Apple is a business. Buying something else is the only way to get their attention. - PopcornDave, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5And you're posting telepathically then?
- jrm125, on 11/10/2009, -4/+9Jailbreak!
Hopefully see this on Cydia shortly. - il128, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4The Droid looks sweet and is OPEN! Bye, Bye AT&T!
- krisrm, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5Yes, and Apple's been so supportive of that, too, haven't they? You could just save everyone time and hassle and get an Android device.
- nedzeve, on 11/10/2009, -2/+6Buried as inaccurate. Apple banned the app relating to ALL Congressmembers, not just Pelosi.
