- MurphyMac, on 12/16/2008, -35/+575That sucks.
- chrismusaf, on 12/16/2008, -23/+398I hope he's not dying...
- RobbyDigital, on 12/16/2008, -32/+378Nooooooo! MacWorld is like a second Christmas! Santa Steve, don't do this to me!
- Eminemdrdre00, on 12/16/2008, -16/+302WHAT THE *****!?
- BxBoy, on 12/16/2008, -12/+268Maybe they can get Steve Mobs.
- hove, on 12/16/2008, -8/+254We're all dying, just some faster than others.
- hungarianhc, on 12/16/2008, -13/+216Let's all hope Steve is healthy.
- tacojohn, on 12/16/2008, -21/+208I always wanted to attend a Steve-note– looks like this will never happen. Sux.
- nealyng, on 12/16/2008, -12/+176Yay, I can't wait to look at Phil Schiller's manboobs for 2 hours.
- angelgabe, on 12/16/2008, -3/+161One more thing...
- leontes, on 12/16/2008, -14/+164The 2009 keynote has happened. As expected, no revolutionary products revealed. Nothing of note. Just a refresh of the Mac Mini. Just as the mac faithful are just about to pour out of Macworld, downtrodden, a voice rings out of the microphone.
"Just one more thing."
Steve Jobs, healthy and fit and in his trademark turtleneck, stands with his hands clasped together at the podium. He smiles as the audience members fall silent, taking their seats. "We aren't quite done yet... Say 'hello' to the..." - astrobela, on 12/16/2008, -14/+147Well then... will be Phil Schiller wearing a black turtleneck?
- deweyhewson, on 12/16/2008, -4/+116And the black turtleneck makers of the world shed silent tears...
- roessnakhan, on 12/16/2008, -16/+128Direct story link: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/12/16macworld ...
- magneteye, on 12/16/2008, -4/+70Maybe they can get Fake Steve.
- achantra, on 12/16/2008, -6/+71I guess this means no big announcements
- aliguana, on 12/16/2008, -20/+82new OSX. Install it on any machine you want! We know in this recession that people can't afford our hardware, but at least they can afford the software. .... *dream fades out to the sound of 1000 fanboys digging me down*
- gettempapa, on 12/17/2008, -1/+63iPhone shuffle: calls random person every time.
- MurphyMac, on 12/16/2008, -4/+53People with deep ties into Apple and Macs for their career enjoy coming to this show and meeting with each other - that's why. Without Apple attending the show is doomed. It's always been fun and productive for the attendees. Now it's over.
You couldn't figure that out yourself? There's more to the tech world than just reading product reviews on the Internet. - bweltondav, on 12/17/2008, -2/+48iDie.
- its...Betty, on 12/16/2008, -1/+46You do NOT talk about Fight Club
- secretmrx, on 12/16/2008, -1/+45Thing is I bet they will either kill that or there will also be no Steve...
WWDC has always been more of a dev conference with Macworld being the place to launch the big products. - zosoIV, on 12/16/2008, -3/+43He will probably show up near the very end just in time to say "...one more thing."
- ThatGeek, on 12/16/2008, -2/+42I PEE ON EVERY ONE OF THEM!
- inactive, on 12/16/2008, -2/+41You did your own "one more thing"!
- ChillEnt, on 12/16/2008, -17/+56Nooooooooooooooooooo!!
- Theli, on 12/17/2008, -1/+37OS XI?
iPhone shuffle?
Copy and paste?
Mac tablet?
A laptop so flat, it's actually 2D?
Return of Firewire? - ether3a1, on 12/16/2008, -27/+62Oh damn, but at least we have WWDC to look forward to for mid-summer announcements and previews...
- cfeick, on 12/16/2008, -1/+36you have just given us all hope
- frieddonuts, on 12/16/2008, -2/+36Even as a Windows fan, I enjoyed reading about the new Apple gadgets coming out. Surprising that they would pull it since it's great publicity.
- Nick2632, on 12/17/2008, -0/+34I'm calling it right now:
Phil is going to give the keynote and at some point he's going to give the classic "But there's...one more thing" at which point Steve Jobs will make his grand entrance with the usual black shirt, jeans, and sneakers. - vivvivtzz, on 12/16/2008, -1/+34darn, really enjoyed these events.
- chris54950, on 12/16/2008, -1/+31This tells me one thing: Apple is sick of having to wait on, or hurry up, releases of major products to correspond with events like these. They probably just want to create more of their own events to announce what they want, when they want to.
- gettempapa, on 12/17/2008, -0/+28I think he will say "But there's... one more thing" and Steve will walk out dressed as Santa Claus and they will announce he will be replacing Santa Claus.
- TVarmy, on 12/16/2008, -3/+30I don't want to have to RSVP AND activate my invitations.
- yetAnotherCroc, on 12/16/2008, -4/+31Dont worry. If you get a Genuine MicrosoftWorld Invitation 2009 Enterprise Edition Ticket they only ask you for a small sample of blood and three fingerprints. It's the suckers that get the Genuine MicrosoftWorld Invitation 2009 Small Business Edition Ticket that have to have their ticket validated before every seminar and at every stall at the expo. The Genuine MicrosoftWorld Invitation 2009 Home Edition lets you visit a maximum of eight stalls on the first level. Though they give the option to upgrade to the Ultimate edition for the small cost of $1000 and a pint of blood.

the man is obviously on the wrong track. - junkwheel, on 12/16/2008, -1/+25"Say 'hello' to the..."
..way to fade Steve out of the front man job without having it drastically effect the stock price. - abrooks, on 12/16/2008, -2/+26Black does nothing for his moobs.
- peestandingup, on 12/16/2008, -7/+31A look back:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=peestandingup& ... - battletops, on 12/16/2008, -8/+30I was at the keynote last year, and I must say it was the highlight of the show. Looks like Apple is trying to show that it can survive without Steve.
I'm kind of glad I was able to see the last Steve Jobs keynote. - Beatmiser, on 12/16/2008, -5/+27Not asking this sarcastically, but have you ever been to an Apple store? They are very tactile and hands on experiences where you are encouraged to play with pretty much everything to your heart's content. And the Geniuses (God, even as a Mac user I hate that term), are generally very friendly and hands off of upselling unless you specifically ask a question or seem intent to purchase.
All in all, it's an excellent way to learn not just about whatever device you are looking at but to see how it integrates and works not only with Apple but whatever else you may be interested in. - ozziek, on 12/16/2008, -2/+22My heart is jailbroken
- FredFredrickson, on 12/17/2008, -5/+25"...iQuit, the revolutionary new way to end an era of fanboyism, hurt feelings, and emo tears."
- takamalak, on 12/16/2008, -2/+21LOLOLOL!!!!! YER FUNNAY!!!!1
M@D PR0PZ 2 U - meamog, on 12/16/2008, -2/+20Because, despite being a jerk, he's a remarkable technology leader.
- thedragon4453, on 12/17/2008, -0/+17No, its more likely that he is just scaling back his role so it doesn't appear that Apple is just Steve Jobs. Remember a few months ago when Apple's stock dropped a bunch just because Steve got sick? Or how everyone seems to think that when Steve leaves the company will fall like it did in the 90's?
I think the last event Steve had Phil handle most of the keynote because of this. Steve may also be preparing for retirement as well.
Of course, he could be dying, and this is part of that. - championchap, on 12/16/2008, -1/+18Boom.
:( - ShloppyJoe, on 12/17/2008, -4/+21Mesmeriffic, have you ever used a Mac? they're wonderful tools for movie and image editing, recording music, and alot more. they arent just "geek hipster" netbooks. just because a computer can be both well designed, pretty, and amazingly functional doesnt mean you have to ***** on it. And how is Steve Jobs a douchebag? I didn't know heading a successful company thats fairly innovative meant you were a douchebag.
By no means am I a Mac fanboy either. I've got a windows desktop, and my Macbook Pro dualboots with Ubuntu. There are different tools for different jobs, Mesmeriffic. -
