- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Finally something to shut up the very vocal few with the whine!!! I know two people with MacBook Pro's and they never had any heat issues. I'd bet my left testicle, that the percentage of new Dell's with heat issues is far greater.
- underburn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ill bet they feel stupid for opening their macbook pros and voiding their warantees now... haha suckers.
- gusx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool, now there's only the whining problem left till I order my Macbook pro
- cameo3171, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just dugg this from the website talking about the SMC update. Its good news pips!
Why was it taken out from the queue? - rakaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't noticed a heat difference. When I first got my MBP, the fans would only turn on while encoding DVD, and now they don't even turn on then.
The whine is still as persistent as ever. - Benjin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it's about frigging time, now i can finally buy a MBP, but i wonder what it'll be like for the people who reapplied their thermal paste after they install the firmware update.
- tms8707056, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just installed the update. I have never heard the fans run like that before. In fact, it is the first time I have actually "heard" the fans. I also had a slight whine on my MBP and now it is definately not as noticable as it was before. So, this update does address the whine issue to some extent. I haven't had time to notice any difference in the heat.
