- saffad, on 09/03/2009, -5/+618the 'art' of breaking glass. jeez this isn't ocean 11 they threw a damn brick at the glass
- Sherman901, on 09/04/2009, -8/+454I dugg this because they executed that like ***** professionals.
- manoftheisland, on 09/04/2009, -3/+435they used the windows flaw
- shamos, on 09/04/2009, -1/+352the reporter was one step away from rubbing one out to that
- fragMasterFlash, on 09/03/2009, -137/+479And nothing of value was lost ;-)
- BossKey, on 09/04/2009, -6/+268But I thought Macs had better security!
- Barryn13087, on 09/03/2009, -4/+251All that run cost was a brick. Talk about getting the most bang for your brick.
- haze454, on 09/04/2009, -3/+226one of the benefits of magnetically released power cords.
- shyawnkarim, on 09/03/2009, -20/+223Those criminals get an "A" for effort but I still hope they are caught. I hate theft.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 09/04/2009, -3/+160Who cares. They will sell these laptops on the street or eBay. I don't see how Apple having the serial numbers will prevent this.
- Gm7Cadd9, on 09/03/2009, -19/+168The Apple Store likely knows the serial of each piece of stolen equipment.
Those thieves might be dumb enough to try and move all that hot merch, but they'll need an assload of power adapters first. - DLun203, on 09/04/2009, -3/+149Usain Bolt couldn't beat that time.
- nightmare1228, on 09/03/2009, -2/+132It's strange to see something local up on digg. I live only 15 minutes away from that apple store. I've grown up watching this news cast and I must say this isn't anything new. That guy always exaggerates everything.
- spriggig, on 09/04/2009, -4/+126Fat security guard comes out of bathroom, pulls up pants and does a double-take. Classic!
- gowingsgo, on 09/04/2009, -1/+122They probably stole the brick too.
- grimacebrown, on 09/04/2009, -2/+97That... was actually a pretty impressive robbery...
- BugMeNot2, on 09/04/2009, -2/+92Dudes, you two should totally meet up at a liquor store.
- MtheoryX, on 09/04/2009, -5/+94CSI style!
Horatio, we've located the suspects based on unique stampings on the brick's surface from the manufacturer.
"Looks like these thieves... are about to ***** brix."
*puts on sunglasses*
YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! - Resistoon, on 09/04/2009, -5/+94What is the point of the Kensington lock slot on the computers, if even the Apple store won't use them?
- JoeHague, on 09/04/2009, -18/+98It seems like a no loss situation to me. All those fancy computers and gadgets are insured, so apple isn't loosing any money, in fact they're probably making money, the thieves probably get some cash out of the deal, some random people are going to get some cheap ass apple *****, the security guard probably gets a couple days off paid, the news gets to run a cool story, and a local guy gets a job fixing the window. It's like a win, win, win, win, win, win situation.
- TheDatabit, on 09/04/2009, -11/+88ok sir you win for that one. I still hate Apple but that was just well played.
- inactive, on 09/04/2009, -2/+73Here's how to get busted breaking into an apple store....bring 4 friends....you know one of those pricks will talk and you'll be *****.
- inactive, on 09/03/2009, -13/+82I wonder where they will buy 23 magsafe power adapters.
I wonder if they realize that all of those computers have serial numbers and are connected to mobile me. - jdmulloy, on 09/04/2009, -0/+64Unless their insurance company is AIG
- veriix, on 09/04/2009, -3/+66That would be hilarious if they tracked them down from where they bought the brick.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 09/04/2009, -1/+63I don't think they care. Odds are they aren't keeping them and will be selling them to people on the street who don't know any better.
- nunofgs, on 09/04/2009, -6/+62I submit to you, sir, that if you go around insulting people over a comment on a website, you're the idiot.
- lolupissed, on 09/04/2009, -6/+601. Smash
2. Grab
3. ????
4. Profit - blacklilyninja, on 09/04/2009, -0/+51i live about 15 minutes away from the dude who lives 15 minutes away from the other dude.
- Darrelc, on 09/04/2009, -2/+52I must say that is one of the funniest comments I've read on digg all year
- fr3nch, on 09/04/2009, -1/+49Magsafe power adapters put to good use!!!!
- protargol, on 09/04/2009, -0/+47I hope they use that footage in their next promo video for that feature.
"See how easy it is to remove the power cord? Also, the MacBook Pro is easily stacked for your convenience" - S1ngular1ty1, on 09/04/2009, -1/+44I'm surprised it took this long for this to happen. If you make your store out of glass, this is bound to happen sooner or later unless you use bullet resistant glass.
- garagepunk, on 09/04/2009, -4/+46i got one of those, a mac book air, no power adapter though, was 500 bux, bargain !
- Auraness, on 09/04/2009, -2/+44Don't kid yourself. If Usain Bolt did that, you'd think it was a ninja.
- shwerm601, on 09/04/2009, -2/+43perhaps even, no i hate to say it but, Another mac store and another brick ?
- thenorwegian, on 09/04/2009, -1/+42I live way far away from the guy that lives 15 minutes from the guy that lives 15 minutes from you but I'll be creepy and fly in to meet you guys for a drink
- rrasco, on 09/04/2009, -0/+39the emphasis was warranted, they're ***** professionals.
- BossKey, on 09/04/2009, -0/+38"I wonder where they will buy 23 magsafe power adapters."
Buy?
(or, how about any store that sells Mac accessories, starting with amazon.com?) - Nirgaul, on 09/04/2009, -2/+39I think the reason they seemed to be praising the robbers was to get them bragging about it. Make them feel like celebrities. Sooner or later, one of them is going to boast of that to the wrong person and they'll get ratted out. That's the only way they can be caught.
- christoast, on 09/04/2009, -2/+38You almost want to say... well done, well done indeed.
Their hearts must have been racing all night. - ruzmutuz, on 09/04/2009, -1/+37that reporter was a ***** idiot:
"watch again as the thieves show skilled practice at the art of bringing down that plate glass window"
How is chucking a brick at a window skillful?
And then he goes on to describe what the thieves were wearing as you watch the footage. - Jeebugorn, on 09/04/2009, -1/+37they're porn stars?
- inactive, on 09/04/2009, -1/+34you think they plan on using them ?
- the_snitch, on 09/04/2009, -3/+35as an apple tech.. you don't know what you're talking about. blastcube is the closest.. it's called the "Blank Board Serializer", it's a bootable disc, and it only works ONCE (after spelling that out through 3 OS9-Style dialogs to really make that clear)
- BigSwole, on 09/04/2009, -0/+32"YOU ARE ABOUT TO WITNESS EXCLUSIVE SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE OF A SPECTACULAR SMASH AND GRAB"
- Nephersir7, on 09/04/2009, -2/+33http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR414LL/A?mco=OD ...
I wonder if they had some in that store.... - Astrad, on 09/04/2009, -0/+30Scaring off security guards? There's an app for that.
- Oztog, on 09/04/2009, -0/+27Not just the reporter...but really it was on my to-do list anyway
- guybrush3000, on 09/04/2009, -2/+29I caught em!
It was nightmare1228 and mascott106! They practically confessed -
