- FearFactory, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7Nice I'm going to patent walking down the street and running up the stairs.
- Nosferotu, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7Come on Apple, quit beating around the bush and just plug that ***** directly into my brain. I'm done ***** around with interface via adaptation to human body. I want a HUD built into my vision and music in the ultimately HiFi by bypassing eardrums all together.
- psYcon, on 04/16/2009, -5/+10Wyodiver sucks.
- anexanhume, on 04/16/2009, -1/+6It should be pointed out that an apparent front-facing camera (180) is depicted, but not functionally relevant to the patent.
- sadisticmind, on 04/16/2009, -1/+6Hookers suck!
- doublsh0t, on 04/16/2009, -2/+7I sense a "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up" app for senior citizens in the distant future.
- FredFredrickson, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3What if someone steals the phone from you while you're asleep on the train?
- Janv1er, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3I wouldn't trust anyone plugging stuff into my brain.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3I see a "Halt, Citizen! You've crossed the city perimeters and are dangerously close to violating Curfew laws! Report to Happy Time quarters for Love Touching Immediately!" app coming for our nightmarish 1984-like future...
- fuzzlepop, on 04/16/2009, -2/+5This made me so bored, its ruined my day thanks
- KennMac, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2I thought about this the other day on the train. Everyday I take the train to work and I would often miss my stop because I like to sleep for the better part of the ride. I usually wake up 3 stations away. How convenient would it be to have an app that sets off an alarm when the phone nears my destination? This isn't possible under the current restrictions... Ie. No background apps.
- Nosferotu, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2Thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out.
- tonmil, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Research moving the iPhone to Verizon
- Nosferotu, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2Thwitter?
- robbob, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2That's thinking out of the barrel
- drjennings, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2This is a great idea. I used work on a broadcast design device called a "Henry", it was made by Quantel in the 90's. It used a pen and tablet to sense motion inputs like swipes and taps for calling menus, copy & paste, and a dozen other functions. It was VERY addictive and intuitive to use. You could call many functions of the box without even looking at the keyboard or tablet.
I'm sure this type of iPhone input would be different..., but kinesthetic interfaces are fun and can make complex commands much easier to use. - FredFredrickson, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2It senses when you've put it down for a second and yells at you to pick it up and start playfully pawing at it again.
- vl002001, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2wow, that is an old commercial.
it clearly was pretty good if 15 years later people are still quoting it.
in 15 years i think i will still be making "gellin' like magellan" jokes - yavor01126, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1mmm strange
- nokstar, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1OR it takes 20 minutes to get from your stop to your next stop, set the timer on your iPhone for 17minutes?
trains are pretty time punctual no? - Virgule, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2"Examples of how this could be used include pointing your iPhone's camera at a building and the phone telling you what building it is by combining GPS, accelerometer and compass information. The iPhone could even overlay graphics and text on top of the image to provide additional information. Another application described is the ability to show information about stars and constellations simply by pointing your iPhone towards the sky. "
BAM!, yo did it again. - mercury187, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2ha so true
- mercury187, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2I think you have the words Microsoft and Apple transposed in your comment, MS phones have had copy paste and vpn and countless other features the iPhone got slowly upgraded to.....
- easthigh, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1Two words: Power Glove.
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -3/+3Wow, I don't even want to think about how much Apple would charge for an iBrain. And I think I'll pass on being linked to the Apple Hive. Just a bunch of elitist, cyborg sheeple. I'll pass. But good luck with that!

- x713, on 04/16/2009, -3/+2While you are at it, you should patent your penis enlarging while doing those activities as a result of motion detection.
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -14/+7Apple Sucks!
- seltaeb4, on 04/16/2009, -11/+4If you want to know what Microsoft will attempt in 5 years, look at what Apple developed 5 years ago.
- homercles337, on 04/16/2009, -14/+6"Apple researching"? Ha ha, nice oxymoron.
