- Shaggy3, on 01/02/2009, -4/+22No. Apple is never ever going to release a glove.

The brand new iGloves.

- dustbowl, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7yeah... memories of Nintendo for sure!
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7Make it 174.99$ and you got yourself a deal!
- thetrza, on 01/03/2009, -0/+4Seventy-five dollars is far too reasonable for half of an Apple product. With poor people buying PCs, HDTVs, Xboxes, and Playstations these days you wouldn't want any filthy poor people to get their hands on any iGloves.
- dogshaft, on 01/02/2009, -1/+5improbable
- pyrates, on 01/02/2009, -1/+5If you saw it on the dupe checker, you were supposed to then digg his story since he submitted it first.

- orlyfactor, on 01/02/2009, -5/+8Didn't Nintendo already try this? Can't wait for that lawsuit.

- NovaPrime9, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I've actually been wondering when SOMEONE would do something like this. On really cold days, when I'm driving with my gloves on, I either have to remove a glove to get my old 3g iPod going, or push the play button with my damn NOSE. I guess that wouldn't be the case with the newer click-wheel models, but iPhones and iPod Touches will have the same problem. Either shed a glove, or point-and-lick.
- ncredblstrength, on 01/02/2009, -2/+5As long as they don't stop working at midnight
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3And the OJ slash and dash game
- wiiittttt, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I laughed a considerable amount.
- aaronfleishman, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4Did the other people leaving comments even read the article?
FTA:
"The invention...is a COLD-WEATHER GLOVE consisting of two layers: a thin inner shell and a heavier outer shell."
"...this application at a minimum demonstrates Apple's awareness of the difficulty of using Multi-Touch devices in cold-weather environments and documents some of their efforts to address the issue." - AngelX, on 01/03/2009, -0/+3Um, has anyone ever tried to use their iPhone in the freezing cold without gloves? It is NOT fun.
The touch screen doesn't respond to touch through regular gloves, making it nearly impossible to answer your phone or text without taking your gloves on and off, which gets really annoying.
This is a great, and much needed invention... I was wondering when someone would come up with something like this. - jakash, on 01/02/2009, -3/+6This would probably wind up being an over-priced white glove...
- Dumbledorito, on 01/02/2009, -1/+4Made of moisture-repellent low-friction NiLon(tm). Heat and vibration features sold separately.
- eadnams, on 01/03/2009, -0/+3well, it was -40 today, i woulda really liked gloves that let me use my iphone.
- mouthymadness, on 01/02/2009, -4/+6You jackass.
- dasunst3r, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2The situation's no better for phones with full QWERTY keyboards because the buttons are so small.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -0/+2You obviously don't live in a cold climate.
Today, in my city, it was half a minute of exposed skin to get frostbite, and i'm not in the yukon/nwt/alaska.
I'm in Alberta. Shelter can easily be 15 minutes walk away. - aaronfleishman, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2Umm??? These gloves are NOT REQUIRED to use a multi-touch device. Their sole purpose is to enable the person wearing them to use a multi-touch display without having to remove the glove. Ya know, like if it's cold out?
- linagee, on 01/03/2009, -0/+2Ew, the glove is all sticky. Better guess again.
- Hercules, on 01/02/2009, -2/+4Apple could release a glove to use their products that did absolutely nothing other than have an Apple logo and people would still buy it.
- DelMonte, on 01/02/2009, -2/+4The difference is that you garionw have only 25 friends who don't seem to have much activity (zero recent shouts for example). While albyliontk has 164 friends who recently sent over 10000 shouts and dugg over 9000 stories (yes, that's the number, over 9000).
Yeah, albyliontk is a "power-user", gaming the system, while you garionw are simply a normal user that wants to contribute to digg in a fair way.
Let me guess... I'll be dugg down by a couple of albyliontk's 164 friends... - omgwhataguy, on 01/02/2009, -3/+5The new iGlove will also help you play a flawless game of Rad Racer.
- CTK14A, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2You don't wanna know where it's been though.
- rofflcopterr, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Hmm.. that's weird.. I already have a pair that do this. Maybe they're just trying to patent the ability?
They're the E-Tip Glove from The North Face:
http://www.thenorthface.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv ... - mesomorphicman, on 01/02/2009, -1/+3two different implementations... can you carry MS Surface in your pocket?? If APL made a table-top device they would have no need for a glove, yet if MS made a touch phone or pocket device they would need the glove. Be sensible in your comments.
- julian02392, on 01/02/2009, -1/+3I hate having to take off my gloves in winter to use my iPhone
I try to use my chin to answer it - MeatyMcBeef, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2DAMMIT! I seriously have a pair of gloves laden with LED and fiber optics that I've been trying to use in conjunction with a multitouch screen I'm working on...
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+3Soon we will all be "Master Hand".
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2But can you eat ice cream with it - like Ali G's Ice Cream Glove?

- tymdautyt, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1I just filed a patent for vibrating glove.
- KingGorilla, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1No way! that couldn't be a real Apple product. It's too affordable
- chadisawesome, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1I love the iGlove. It's so BAD
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2Can't wait for the Power Sock
- adkenc, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1are there any decent fifa games on the wii?
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1"Umm??? These gloves are NOT REQUIRED to use a multi-touch device."
I didn't say anything about that. If these gloves are to be used in cold environments, then its the dumbest Apple product yet. Normal gloves with a contact tip on two of the fingers. Neat and at only 5 times the price of normal gloves?
PS
Good luck at getting electronic gadgets like the iPhone or MacBooks to work in sub freezing temps. - supermanred, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1This is actually a great idea. Especially when it's 20 below (Celsius) in the winter... I recently discovered Zune premium headphones, which have a cloth wire that is great in the winter. Although the Apple premium headphones sound 2x better, the apple headphone wire freezes in the cold. Once the Apple headphones freeze, it's like having a stick attached from your ears to your iPhone.
A glove would actually be pretty cool. -
