- maesterxen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Steve Jobs has just announced iPhone, a widescreen iPod and an internet mobile communicator. But it is only one product and it is called the iPhone.
http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/live-from-macworld-2007-steve-jobs-keynote/ - thrillho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Finally....enough with the damned rumors already
- andrewcod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Stats: 3.5 inch widescreen, 11.6mm thick, uses multi-finger gestures, runs slimmed down OS X, syncs calendars, contacts, etc., core animation built in, syncs everything through iTunes, can tell if being held vertically or horizontally - changes screen display to suit, highest res display they've ever shipped. More still coming in...
- Kola, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Before it's announced let me pray "pleeeeeease don't be too expensive."
- TheWiseFlea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://blogspot.roaminghack.com/ for all you Verizon people.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The thing is massive. Is this supposed to fit in a pocket or a man bag?" - flag564
Um, the iPhone is about the same size as the Zune (it's actually thinner than the Zune), which you are so madly in love with. Yet I distinctly remember you arguing, quite rabidly as usual, that the Zune was not too big at all.
Flag the flip-flopper.
Not that we're surprised. You can't help but spew nonsense every time you touch a keyboard. - Scott2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too late, $499 and $599 with contract. Cingular only.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Hey flag, will you eat crow for calling the iPhone rumours fake?"
Flag eats crow every time he opens his mouth. - fvjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This phone is just amazing. My mind is spinning at how elegantly it will replace my *new* Samsung Blackjack and my 80GB iPod. Also, just think of the 3rd party software/hardware that will be developed for this thing... GPS, messaging, presentations, etc... Its kind of what the Newton probably would have evolved to.
I predict the next generation of iPods will be exactly like the iPhone.. but without the phone of course. That will be crazy!!!
Zune anyone? - maesterxen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You think this is massive?
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/01/dsc_0184.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want one!
- maesterxen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2More info: Wifi, Bluetooth, Quadband, EDGE, Visual Voicemail and the killer app, "Making a Call" :P
- kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you've recently been shopping for "smart" phones, you'll realize that the price is right in line with any new phone that is released.
- Recode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks really cool. But looks fragile as well. I toss my Treo around and sit on it and not a scratch on it. Wonder rugged this will be.
- dezmd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes but its not a PoS3. Its something that you will actually use day in and day out and can have a direct effect on your life beyond making you sit on your ass and move your eyes, thumbs, and index fingers repeatedly all day. Those of us who have been putting off a Treo/insert other overpriced pda phone here/ despite needing the functionality are finally shown a product worth using. Quad band, WIFI and Bluetooth, Built in full browser, good sized screen, camera, and, most importantly, fully usable email and app suite that should be able to immediately open attachments and view them without having to dig out the laptop or find a desktop. Plus I don't have to carry my ipod around seperately now.
- lerinlas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All I have to say is that it costs the same as a PS3, and I didn't buy one of those.
This thing comes with a 2 year contract...
Wish I could afford it, but I can't imagine paying that much. - PhillyMJS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wall Street seems to like the news... I've got macrumorslive in one tab and NASDAQ in the other... Apple stock was up over a buck during the Apple TV introduction, settled down to up a few cents, and then shot up nearly $3 during the phone intro.
I'd be very interested to see a graph of the stock price along with events in the keynote. - mattems, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i am not a mac user and use windows based pcs, but i have to say that the iPhone is one slick and functional piece of hardware / software. Absolutely love it and looking forward to getting my hands on one when they come out here in Australia. APPLE FTW!
Also the keynote was great, Steve did very well!
Would be great to see a larger hard drive on the iPhone though, maybe 20 gig and up, also would be nice in 3g, but what a excellent piece of hardware! - diggPriest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thanks for the updates Xen...
- zang74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hey flag, will you eat crow for calling the iPhone rumours fake?
- TheWiseFlea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Stock just surged almost 4 points after announcing the iPhone.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=AAPL&t=1d - tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1flag you're an idiot. it's smaller than the Moto Q
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I'm waiting for some Mac-haters to come along and, inexplicably, create reasons that this sucks and is inferior to other phones on the market.
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2big fingers + small screen = flop
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1The thing is massive. Is this supposed to fit in a pocket or a man bag?

What is Digg?
