- timusca, on 02/08/2009, -7/+65Are we just throwing Obama's name into submissions now for free Diggs? The description says it includes politicians from both parties.
- Idrive, on 02/07/2009, -3/+39Puzzled or not the game looks stupid...
- coolblue, on 02/07/2009, -7/+31This looks like a really cool game. It has the "bar" you need to keep balloons over and a map of balloons to pop before fiinishing the level.
With all the fart games and Southpark videos on iTunes what were they thinking rejecting this? - CarStan, on 02/08/2009, -4/+22there are other politicians than Obama?
- blergle, on 02/08/2009, -0/+15It's title is actually 'Obama Trampoline', thus casting doubt on the 'it has politicians from both sides therefore it's not aimed specifically at Obama'. In which case why call it 'Obama Trampoline'?
- Spuy767, on 02/08/2009, -1/+13Apple's rejection policies are a veritible magic 8-ball. The policies that Apple claims to use to determin an App's acceptability mean nothing and generally any app rejections will fall under the "We're Apple and we can do whatever the ***** we want." clause.
- doiveo, on 02/07/2009, -1/+11swap the polly with a girl in a pleaded skirt... best seller.
- Canumbler, on 02/08/2009, -1/+10It astounds me how eager some US citizens seem to be to reinstate the trappings of a monarchy.
- inactive, on 02/08/2009, -1/+10Damn, I wanted to watch Hilary Clinton jump on a trampoline.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 02/08/2009, -1/+7Yes I totally agree. If I was ever depicted as having a flappy mouth, I would be outraged! How dare they!
- yurimxpxman, on 02/08/2009, -0/+5I really love this screenshot -> http://www.techcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/ ...
Obama dressed in a Michael Jackson costume, saying "Touch to continue." - inactive, on 02/07/2009, -1/+6Is their app submision process automated? I get the feeling it automatically screens out based on certain keywords.
- cheule, on 02/08/2009, -1/+6You can use celebrity likenesses without consent for satire, not for promotion.
- milkmage, on 02/08/2009, -0/+5maybe Apple doesn't want to get a call from the White House:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive ...
White House lawyers want to control the use of the president’s image, recognizing the worldwide fascination about Obama’s election, First Amendment free-speech rights and easy access to videos and photos on the Web.
“Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. - sangjmoon, on 02/08/2009, -0/+5Haven't you heard. Obama is merchandise gold. Whoever controls the rights to his image is locking down on its use. They want to make sure that they get a big chunk of any money made using him.
- jfreeman, on 02/08/2009, -4/+8Solution: Android Market.
- SiRWhxr, on 02/08/2009, -0/+4JUGGIES!
- cleverboy, on 02/08/2009, -3/+7Apple's policies are fairly easy to figure out. If you wander into the grey areas, then you run a risk. Grey areas are pretty clear though. If you create an App where you can take a virtual baseball bat, and hit popular movie stars in the head... it will be rejected. If you create a virtual "dunk tank", and name it after one of the people you can dunk, you will get rejected. Anything that can be seen as OOTB defamatory... just steer clear. It's NOT supposed to turn the App Store into a political firing range. Make in GENERIC, and you're doing fine.
Take a hint, and fix the damn app so you can get it submitted. Take Obama's name OUT of the title of the App. Just call it "Trampoline". Take references to him and critics of his policies or other ***** up things out of your level texts, etc.
EXTRA CREDIT: Allow people to construct their own "stages", by choosing from a selection of images, or their own. Then let people choose the style of player body (male, female, suit, casual, etc), game theme (politics, hollywood, sports, etc), and choose from a number of heads (like the current version has, but divided into "categories" so that "politics" isn't the only topic).
Let us know when you're done. I'll buy it! - oriondr, on 02/08/2009, -1/+5Apple doesn't need any of your puny human 'reasons' to block an app.
- dragon76, on 02/08/2009, -0/+4iPhone has never EVER been touted as an open platform. It's identical to a game machine and the requirements for getting published are actually lax compared to a game machine.
That;s just how it is. It's as useful being angry about Apple not publishing your app as it is about being rejected by Sony or Nintendo to even BUY their IDE. - theRobot, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3That guys thumbs are messed up.
- adbo, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3I want to see Monica.
- coyote1284, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3I take it you've never watched Connan O'Brian...
- Lhandroval, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3Maybe they're telling us to go outside?... and jump on a real trampoline?
- JonLatane, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3I want The Man Show back so bad. Jimmy Kimmel was not a worthy trade.
- Spuy767, on 02/08/2009, -5/+8When the people wo voted for him stop acting like he is? Obama's just another flawed politician. Maybe he's better than Bush, Maybe he's better than McCain, maybe he isn't. One thing he is is a a helluva salesman.
- coyote1284, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3*shudder*
- MacParrot, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3"it shows our president flapping his mouth around and it is offensive to show the man running our country in that light"
Wait, are you saying that just because the current office holder is more popular than the previous one that he can't be held up to ridicule? Doesn't that stink just a little bit of hypocrisy? NO person holding public office can't be ridiculed for real or imagined mistakes. Obama is just another public office holder. - xCIone, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3LOL politics
- Myztry, on 02/08/2009, -1/+4What's wrong. All the politicians can go take a flying jump
- Frozo, on 02/08/2009, -0/+3And what about my "Make Jobs Eat" app? Totally rejected :(
- Myztry, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2and no knickers...
- boogie, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Let's just all try to keep the App Store clutter free... I would hate to wade through 300.000 joke apps before I get to the real handy app I was looking for.
- Raian, on 02/08/2009, -3/+5whether anyone likes it or not-- it's a political satire/cartoon... even if it doesn't try to be.
- coyote1284, on 02/08/2009, -3/+5When ***** like you stop referring to the PotUSA as "the Messiah".
- CySailor, on 02/08/2009, -2/+4I for one am thankful Apple is deciding what I should and should not have on my iPhone and look forward to the day Apple will make more decesions for me so I can spend more time explaining to the unwashed masses why everything Apple does is actually perfect.
- inactive, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3Independent?
- Je55e0wn5y0u, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2at least somebody agrees with me
- yvrview, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2How much are you paying for your shiny wee machine every month?
"Applications must not contain ... or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users."
Should Apple be able to decide what you find objectionable?
Sounds just like censorship to me.
(p.s. censorship is bad.) - yurimxpxman, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3I wanted to nail pailin.
- theaceoffire, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2Maybe this is why Apple rejected it?
Not enough cheerleaders? - coyote1284, on 02/08/2009, -2/+4Like what, like me? Wouldn't you just feel like an ass to know I agree with the rest of your statement? Yeah, I voted for him. That doesn't mean I *don't* recognize he's a politician. It doesn't mean I agree with everything he does. What my previous comment means is I am sick and tied of "the Messiah" coming from people who think that anyone who in any way supports Obama is performing verbal fellatio on the man... kind of like how any percieved support of Bush was construed as "jackboot followership of his dictatorship" (which I've also been accused of.) Just ***** give it up, move on, and do something other than bitch about "Obamanistas". (IIRC thet was your word, right Spuy?)
- freesf, on 02/08/2009, -4/+6Apple fanboys are busy Digging this Sunday morning, I guess no date last night...
- Je55e0wn5y0u, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2that guy from the subway commercials?
- kinseyincanada, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3the most logical answer is that the images of presidents are copyrighted.
- Subduction, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3But if Apple isn't involved, how will I know?
- gcnaddict, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3Simple answer:
Gore is a politician. - Vektuz, on 02/08/2009, -1/+3That's pretty much what you get for developing for a platform like the iPhone, where you're at someone elses whim whether you succeed or not. (Especially on the iphone where you won't know if its okay until you've already spent all the dev time getting it working).
- MacHarborGuy, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2Apple blocking apps has nothing to do with the constitution. The Constitution protects against political censorship, not retail censorship.
- DEIx15x8, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2I was getting ready to see some Obama spam but this app actually looks really cool and is more bipartisan than congress!
