- thenoise, on 10/17/2007, -0/+61sigh. why can't this link on digg go STRAIGHT to the actual material that is being dugg? thanks for the useless link saying the exact same thing the digg link says.
- cave, on 10/10/2007, -4/+44Next time, our lord and saviour Steve Jobs will turn down the sun a bit for ya.
- OS2Guy, on 10/17/2007, -23/+63Cool. But not needed. The iPhone sells itself. Nearly all my friends have bought one and if they haven't they will as soon as they can dump their contracted providers. The one guy is right about needing just his wallet and iPhone. I use to carry around an iPod, a Cell Phone, a mini-camera, an address book, and my BlackBook to watch movies and access the 'Net. Today I just carry my wallet and the iPhone.
- battletops, on 10/17/2007, -5/+41It won't be long until someone spoofs these with a story about how their iPhone got bricked.
- drewfer, on 10/17/2007, -0/+20Straight to the apple page: http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad12/
- corporalclegg24, on 10/10/2007, -8/+27Not a good one. The software on almost every other phone sucks, that is what people don't realize when they say they have the same features.
- Alegoo92, on 10/17/2007, -3/+21I hate testimonial commercials: only because I can almost never believe them.
- Merb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17i feel like stephano beat up some kid for his lunch money and took his iphone too. bonus!
- dotbacher, on 10/17/2007, -1/+13The visual voice mail is the best one. My only complaint about VVM is that it can take up to 5 minutes for a voice mail to show up after I've missed the call.
- neffy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Yeah? How did you get the contacts into your phone? It took about 10 seconds after activation for my address book from my computer to sync to my iPhone. The first time I plugged it in. Without configuring anything.
- pintomp3, on 10/17/2007, -2/+13i just saw one on tv where a guy talks about how it replaced four devices: ipod, camera, a phone for making calls, and a phone for sending text messages. it was such a stretch i thought it was a parody. it replaces your ipod and cameraphone and does it in a nice package, but to suggest that someone carries a separate phone to send text messages is stupid.
- Storm9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10ooh i like the lighting effect
- dusingaz, on 10/17/2007, -10/+20I get it is outside on the street but that hard lighting really bothers me. Not very apple, and the people while real are not very convincing sales people.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Fanboy isn't the same as liking a product. I'm sure he's perfectly aware of the iPhone's flaws, just as I'm aware of the exact same flaws in my iPhone. That doesn't change the fact that I, too, only grab my wallet, keys, and iPhone before heading out (and have much more functionality from that than I did with my old cell phone and iPod approach).
If I (or he) was a fanboy, he'd be pretending the issues didn't exist while forcing the fact that he had one and you didn't down everyone's throats. Guess what! I own an Xbox 360 too, and like it. But I'm no fanboy by any stretch of the imagination. - notepaddotexe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11I liked them...
They had a good feel and Apple didn't "put down" any of their competitors in these ads. I think I have to buy one now. - neffy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Yeah! stupidface.
- virtualball, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Being a fanboy doesn't make him wrong, the iPhone sells itself and the commercial was right.
- ECas123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9My bulb just lit up, be right back....
- thrasher9898, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11I really actually like them surprisingly. It adds a new personal touch. I've got to no clue why my initial inclination is to hate them, but I can't help myself from liking them.

- jadjadjad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+75 minutes? that's edge for you.
- pyrates, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6to the guy who carries 4 devices which included a camera and now just carries an iphone, how the hell is the iphone a good camera?
- pierrefilms, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Nickname for the black MacBook.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/11/2007, -10/+16Apple's marketing team PWNS.
- eq2s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Don't you guys need to carry keys to open doors?
- carrera594, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6no i just walk around with my iphone and jam it into the keyhole. /sarcasm
- Nick519, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6wow, i don't know where to begin with a comment like that...
BANNED. - LaughingMan11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6How is that so hard to believe? Isn't the email-centric phone the entire business model for RIM and the Blackberry? At my company, I know most of our road-warrior types carry around a personal cell phone, plus a company issued Blackberry for email. This is how things are in reality for a lot of people.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5What does that mean? Are you suggesting that Cheney has a fake penis? Or in fact confirming that these are real people? Were you attempting to add a random bit of political commentary (if talking about a politician's penis could be considered political commentary, excepting Bill Clinton's, of course) to a failed attempt at an attack on Apple and their use of "real" people?
- ibone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I feel like stephano is gay, what man carries a purse for his ipod, cell phone, digital camera, and other cell phone, (for txt messaging... lol!). He is a guy that used a BAG for his electronics. LOL im sure he had a tampon and some lipstick in there too.
- pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I know several people who have a Blackberry for e-mail/texting, and another cellphone for just calls. (Some people just could never get the hang of using the number keys to type text)
It is not that uncommon among the target iPhone market, which is probably exactly why the commercial points out that truth. Hell, I used to just carry and iPod and a Cellphone, and simply losing the iPod makes everything more lightweight, and easier to manage. Having my e-mails and easier texting is an added bonus. - pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That's a big improvement over the spotty service I used to get though. At one point I wasn't getting voicemail notifications until days (yeah, days) after I missed the call.
My first VVM showed up nearly instantly. :
As was said, opening the tab would probably force a check. - warnergt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I"m the guy who owes Doug money. My voice message gave him directions to come and get it. Now, he will never see it.
- FTLJohnson, on 10/10/2007, -13/+17What's with having the nice clean black background, and then at the end zooming out and showing the "set" on the street. Do they expect us to think that these people are not actors, and that they just found them on the street? What is up with that? Strange commercials. I think Apple is slowly and collectively losing it's mind.
- FTLJohnson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Uhm, are we sure that they are "real"? Where exactly does it say that? Or did you just ASSUME that because they zoomed out and showed the set...? If that's all it takes... then I guess it's brilliant marketing.
- Billions, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Hey man, Diggs come and go so fast, does it really matter? Roll with it; it'll be gone by this afternoon. I don't follow Linux, but I don't get mad at seeing posts about it. It's all part of this crazy "information superhighway!"
- spammishking, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4So you leave your doors unlocked?
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Well that's kinda the point. They probably got a token amount for doing the commercial, but they're all making completely valid points that any user would be able to happily make after having their own iPhone. Granted, I've never gotten my girlfriend fired for talking about forgetting her boss's fiancé's name in a commercial, but they're speaking the truth.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6no. its good marketing. be more creative next time.
- pintomp3, on 10/24/2007, -0/+3for text messages, yes it's hard to believe. for corporate email, the iphone doesn't do that anyway. for pop/imap, a lot of phone already did that, didn't need a separate device. i realize it's just an ad and they will exaggerate a bit, but that really was pushing it. the iphone is a great phone and pretty much sells itself, didn't need to go that far.
- aj28, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Anyone who bought an iPhone and had it bricked has no right to complain. Hack at your own risk kthx - The real pros don't whine, they find a new way in.
- pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Apple ads have a history of being interesting, and even Microsoft recognizes that the Apple marketing team is top notch (recall the old Microsoft produced video "fixing" the iPod box). So it is interesting to see what they come up with next.
Not to mention, that other funny/interesting ads show up on digg too, not just Apple ones. - cloudcity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I have noticed this too... Is there a way to manually force a check for new voicemail?
- spargett, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Because then the website hosting the story wouldn't make money off each person who visits.
- LaughingMan11, on 10/24/2007, -3/+5pintomp... is it really that hard to believe?
At my workplace, I know a lot of road-warrior types who carry a regular cell phone (mainly for personal use), and have a data-only blackberry for corporate email.
I am skeptical if it can totally replace the Blackberry with their enterprise mail, but the fact is, a lot of people do carry around all that. - manbear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2the iPhone lets you phaseshift thru doors, duh...
- mavedatthews85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I heard one of the third-party apps actually lets the iPhone unlock hidden dimensions...
- kernel16, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Thanks to Digg I'm all for this Ron Paul guy even though I don't know what he stands for, but I heard he's Jesus reincarnated. I also have this urge to install Ubuntu (was it made by an African nation?) on my 95 IBM Aptiva. Furthermore, there's no comparison to the flame wars with Jewish/Israel Zionist found on Digg, it's fun for the whole family. One of my finner reply was: "New engine will be powered by dead babies in the oven." I also want to buy all Apple products, and then 'hack' them only to blog about how Apple is evil for my Apple products no longer function properly. Downgrading software is what all the cool kids do, it's like fashion, wearing 70's cloths is in as running on patches from 1998. I no longer care for anything that isn't a top 10 list, and it also has to be of all time, not just limited to this century. Whether everything on the list is in fact from this century is irrelevant.
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The fact is that Apple has replaced Nike in the advertising world, and that means something. They are the most envied company when it comes to their marketing, as well as one of the most copied. So yes, it is news.
