- lessew, on 11/06/2007, -22/+168It is a beauty... been using it for the last 4 months, and I have to say it's the best OS out there, hands down.
- totorototoro, on 10/24/2007, -3/+58Even with all the stuff on AppleInsider and Apple's own site about Leopard, I'm still reading reports (like this one) that imply that there is more to Leopard than just what we've seen so far. Tidbits mentioned something about a Spotlight feature he couldn't talk about, and several commentors have hinted at other surprises. The only thing that hasn't been mentioned that I'm looking forward to is systemwide resolution independence.
- iPsyko, on 10/25/2007, -23/+67Wow, take it in the mouth vista.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -4/+41Troll much?
- Tenoq, on 10/18/2007, -2/+38You obviously cared enough to post. It almost looks like you paid for Vista and now are desperately trying to justify your foolish purchase.
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -4/+38Holy ***** the trolls sure do come out of the woodwork when a new OS X release comes about.
- CymraegKatana, on 10/19/2007, -2/+33I just really can't wait to get this groundbreaking piece of software. Not only is it beautiful and streamlined, it's intelligent and intuitive as it's been made with the input from probably what are probably some of the finest minds in the computing industry. With one release for ordinary consumers, it's impossible to go wrong, unlike Microsoft's 5 or 6 ("can't remember") versions of Vista. Add on rock-solid reliability (thanks Unix), and you've got yourself one hell of an operating system. I have a first-generation MacBook and I'm so glad I won't have to do major upgrades to make Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard run on it.
Please keep up the good work in Cupertino, can't wait to see what Mac OS X 10.6 (Lynx?) turns out like. - indiekiduk, on 10/23/2007, -2/+28Yeh compiz might make an exciting youtube video but when you come to use it you just turn it off because its a resource hog and not very practical. E.g. you can't even drag files between windows when you use compiz's expose, like expose was designed for in Tiger. Linux is never going to have an impressive GUI whilst there are no standard guidlines to follow, every app is a mess, and all the coders think their way is best, makes the whole experience highly unusable.

- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -1/+22If you call people gay over stupid things like that, people think you have the maturity of a 13 year old... they may not tell you, but they should.
- yeahbuddy, on 10/19/2007, -2/+22Time to buy more AAPL!
- superkendall, on 10/19/2007, -5/+25PC means personal computer, and has nothing to do with a specific vendor (or lack thereof).
- wiihuck, on 10/18/2007, -0/+19give it a rest. we heard you the first time.
- Quix, on 10/19/2007, -7/+25Thank you Leopard for drawing the juvenile Winbots out of their dank little troll holes. Time for a serious block list update.
- Drewboy64, on 10/19/2007, -7/+24My god you trolls are obnoxious. I mean do you guys sh*t your pants when ever you see anything with relation to Apple? I mean if you hate Apple then why the hell are you reading this.... Whatever, go masturbate to more pictures of Bill Gates. Here's even one to get you started: http://www.cellphones.ca/news/upload/bill%20gates% ...
Anyways, to the point of the article, I can't wait to see what Leopard is like. I've seen the screenshots and the videos, now it's time to actually try it out. Lets hope it's just better then what MS can bring to the table which is just XP with too much eye candy and is all in all way too overpriced (I can smell the sh*t resonating from the MS trolls now...). - inactive, on 10/19/2007, -4/+20It's official, Digg is worse than YouTube.

- totorototoro, on 10/18/2007, -2/+17I think he's talking about Files and Folders. On Windows, you can Cut and Paste Files and Folders (basically a move command). On OSX, you can only Copy/Paste. Then you have to go back and delete the original. It is a rather odd omission, and I'd like to see it too.
- eboy, on 10/18/2007, -5/+20wow.
- mrsugar, on 10/18/2007, -0/+14Using derogatory language makes you look foolish. What's the point of writing that much if you're going to wreck it by using offensive language. I'm sure that really makes people agree with you.
- Minkii, on 10/19/2007, -1/+15Leopard = bow chica wow wow.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -5/+19USE THE REPLY BUTTON
- soopafly, on 11/07/2007, -0/+12Fail.
- cfulp, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11That would be more clever if Vista Ultimate didn't cost $300.
- newbill123, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11My guess is that you won't hear a word about resolution independence for a while. The ability was actually in Tiger (open the Quartz Debug app and change the scale factor), but the artwork wasn't ready for the users and the api's weren't consistently used throughout the system for developers. I bet both of those things will be pretty much complete when Leopard's install disks go out.
Still, I don't expect resolution independence to be pushed until the next generation of screen hardware comes out in 2008 sometime. Most people using the feature on their current displays (e.g. 96dpi screens) will think this is a downgrade. It's only when you start getting the higher screen densities (e.g. 166 dpi like on the iPhone) where this feature really becomes an asset. If Apple had to pull some developer & tester resources off of a feature in order to make the October deadline... well, my guess is that resolution independence was it. You can bet they will be cranking this effort back into high gear soon, but the deadline is really only when Apple gets anxious to release new high res portable displays and cinema displays... and that doesn't seem likely for three or four more months at the earliest.
So don't be disappointed about not seeing Apple highlighting resolution independence with Leopard's release; my bet is that a mostly complete foundation will be there and that it's time will come when the hardware is ready for it. - Salanmon, on 10/18/2007, -1/+12I think Rangu been abused by a Mac when we was young
- trylleklovn, on 10/18/2007, -1/+12It's still not about the way the OS look, i couldn't care less about that. It's about how it works. And here Apple wins.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11you're silly.
- marvinmatthew, on 10/18/2007, -4/+15I'm not betting on it.
If there really was something revolutionary (that we don't know about), it would have been leaked by now. Hell, anyone can go get the current developer build off of the Pirate Bay right now. - inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11You'll never win. There's always an update around the corner. What's that 3 or 4 months without a new laptop worth to you?
Smart people buy early and upgrade often. Apple's have phenomenal resale value. - jesstech, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11Sure, but keep in mind those builds are all at least a month old. Apple cut back on the number of developer builds a few weeks ago, opting to work instead with a few internal release candidates. While I'm still not getting my hopes up for resolution independence, it does make one wonder why they went through the trouble of re-working all the interface elements, like the window gems.
- MtheoryX, on 10/18/2007, -0/+10CS3? Check. Final Cut Studio? Check.
Any others? I'd be glad to test them out for ya. - hunchback, on 10/18/2007, -0/+10The problem is really with wording, for example your use of "macfags", what do you think the response would be to that? How about, ***** you, *****.
- PabloMac, on 10/18/2007, -0/+10Does it have a spell-check?
- _skin_, on 10/18/2007, -3/+13What the hell are you talking about? Apple C, Apple V or Command C Command V for the people with the new keyboards. Do you even own a Mac? Or are you the guy that installed Windows on it?
Edit... If you want to cut... Apple X or Command X - ophello, on 10/18/2007, -1/+10I hope steve jobs emails you a virus. enjoy your dell.
- tinygibbles, on 10/18/2007, -0/+9The great thing about OS X is going to http://girls.aduvid.com/video.php and downloading the malicious executable and watch as nothing happens. Go ahead PC users, click on the link...
- henhanson, on 10/18/2007, -5/+13Yes! OS X Leopard is the best OS at this moment.
Compare with Vista, it really have a new look and new features that beat Vista.
Thank Apple for this genius software. - inactive, on 10/18/2007, -2/+10Can't a Mac user have the best of bother worlds? Ahh yes they can. Windows from the foundation up is trash. No matter how many time you try to slap a patch or upgrade, it is still built upon *****. Give the Mac community equal to or less then time and it would stomp windows in the gaming market. You can't deny it. Scoff at me while you put your ipod ear buds in your ears.
- DarkDx, on 10/18/2007, -1/+9I am certainly no fanboi of windows but windows >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> linux
/sarcasm - quomen, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7starts now.
- 1611av, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7Uhh, last time I checked, Loonix, er Linux was an operating system with NO hardware behind it. Windows is an operating system with NO hardware behind it. Macs are a HARDWARE product that has it's own SYSTEM SOFTWARE; hence the reference to Sun, who sell HARDWARE and has it's own SYSTEM SOFTWARE. Please read before making an ass out of yourself.
- dacomputerfreak, on 10/25/2007, -5/+12Vista doesn't have to lose for OSX to win, or any other OS that suits it's target audience. Use what you like.
- kaytrio, on 10/18/2007, -2/+9He makes a hell of a point. Tiger is good enough for most consumers today. Hell, I think it's still the most advanced OS on the marked (imo, i know). But leopard caters towards developers.
Yeah the UI enhancecments are awesome and so are the 300 (or whatever) features, but the most important things are core animation, 64 bit, and full unix compliance that will really give developers a chance to do something great, and sooner or later, it will be their apps that will really push new windows users to the mac platform. - ophello, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6um osx 10.5 is $129.

Not so bad =) - PabloMac, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7I am about as un-gay as a person can be (not that there's anything wrong with that), and I am a total Mac freak. So there.
- keozen, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6I find it damn amazing that Microsoft can charge over double that for a release that isn't even stable & secure until at least the second service pack, go figure.
