- Web_Weasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've heard this one way too many times in my 20+ years in IT.

Apple already has numerous recent games that can be bought from Apple.com or apple stores. So i have no doubt switching to Intel will have more games available or begin to be available. - DeVryGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We'll see about that. I will never understand how people can play so many different first person shooters. It all looks like the same thing over again to me. I suppose that must be true with any genre though. - j_bellone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Performance wise, MAC OS will outperform windows in the same processor."

If not as it is an x86 processor, shipping macs with an AMD chip wouldn't be a problem.
Performance wise, MAC OS will outperform windows in the same processor. - bedouin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0steamynachos,
Check Amazon or eBay for the original Unreal Tournament for Mac. - jonecat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the trasition will be good, if it means we get Laptops with 6+ hours of battery life under normal usage.
- steamynachos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm still trying to find a copy of the first unreal for mac
- Winklepr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah because a majority of computer buyers buy them to play games... I think Apple's trying to look for the wants/needs of the majority, not the wants/needs of the miniority. And since AMD doesn't have a good mobile processor (since laptops are more popular sellers for apple then their desktop line currently) nor do they have many low-powered chips, so that's probably why no-AMD and glad for it. As for gaming, I don't think a majority of potential apple-buyers would buy it for games alone... But outperforming on everything else besides games I think is reasonable enough, I mean without adware/spyware/viruses that your everyday normal average-joe person inflicts on there computer, a Apple probably would run faster/smoother for your majority user. Sure a PC dual-booting linux/Windows with a AMD processor desktop could outperform, but only a miniority would know how to let alone do that, and they still can. For everyone else that apple hopes will expand there
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Funnymandotcom: Simple. AMD is a smaller company, might not be able to keep up with the demand.
That's what I think anyway. - Raian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think it's about AMD not keeping up with demand, but more like not keeping prices low for Apple
- wikk!d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0#2: $$$
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0heh yeah can't say it isn't easy ;)
- Shatneresque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahahah, Xcode.
Those developers should be glad they don't have to move to the old ProjectBuilder from when OS X first came out. I still remember the docs for that POS touting "power" features like auto-indent. Friggin' NeXT boneheads who took over Apple were stuck in a time warp from the mid 80s. They didn't realize the rest of the world had passed them by years ago. It took years for the IDE to start to catch up to CodeWarrior, and even now it still isn't there in some ways.
They had to rename it just to get the taste out of everyone's mouth. - Winklepr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...there
- nutcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BEOS outperforms Mac's and PC's.
word. - spade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nutcase wrote:

Word sucks, openoffice all the way, oh, wait, out of context.
It's all good, I'll wait for the powerbooks, but if that iBook rocks might jump on it right away. As battery life is my most important feature I'm hoping for at least seven hours, well, besides the features of OS X, and all my favorite apps. - funnymandotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0 Why apple y are u doing this? Couldn't you go AMD or stay with what you got? :(
