Customers subscribing to the iPhone Plan ($160/mnth) are entitled to the following:
* 25MB of wireless data
* 200 local anytime minutes
* 6 stored voicemails
The Customer will not engage in unfair usage of the Service as defined by the Rogers Wireless iPhone Acceptable Use Policy (e.g. copyright infringement, accessing competitors' websites to compare rates, defaming Ted Rogers or the Rogers Group of Companies). Please note that the 802.11g ("Wifi") radio has been disabled in the Rogers Wireless iPhone. - juneof44, on 11/06/2007, -2/+22Same event is there for November 3rd.

- reallydigginit, on 11/06/2007, -6/+21It's probably *****, but Dugg for hope.
- bigbadgoat, on 11/05/2007, -2/+14A Canadian invented penicillin, you asinine *****.
- cctoronto05, on 11/06/2007, -0/+11Rogers sucks, period.
- Chris24, on 11/06/2007, -0/+11I'm scared to see how much the Rogers data plan will cost.
- Proctor, on 11/06/2007, -1/+11It'll still be more than the USD price.
- ScottyDontKnow, on 11/06/2007, -0/+10Rogers is gonna ***** everyone...... They gotta pay the Blue Jays salary somehow.
- mturlock, on 11/07/2007, -0/+9Obviously, terminalpariah is kidding, but sadly, that could very well be what would happen. The Wireless companies here all disable features forcing you to use their more expensive and less functional alternatives, and charge you up the ass for data.
I totally agree that Canada should have gotten the iPhone at the same time as the US launch. There is no reason that they couldn't have started working with Rogers at the same time they started talks with Cingular. There is only 1 GSM carrier in Canada (Fido is owned by Rogers) so it's not like they had to choose and fight over carriers. Apple screws us on all their launches. We typically have to wait a month after a product is launched to get it here. Hell, my local apple resellers (not a real apple store, we only have 4 in the whole country and 3 are in Toronto) just got the iPod touch last week. - astrosmash, on 11/06/2007, -0/+8Digg's awesome comment system chopped off the URL.
- rebotfc, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7lol at all the morons thinking it is real.
- boboboe4, on 11/06/2007, -0/+7Well that takes some of the legitimacy of this rumor away...
- bigbadgoat, on 11/05/2007, -0/+7math failure?
Even if the prices are even in US and Canadian currencies, Canadians are paying a more valuable dollar for it than Americans. The fact that it takes even more Canadian currency than American currency when Canadian currency is worth more than America's means we're paying a much larger sum for the product than Americans are. - grieks, on 11/05/2007, -0/+6Canadian system is far from perfect, but it beats dying because you (can't afford/don't have/are ***** around by) health insurance.
- icedman, on 11/05/2007, -0/+6My iPhone was unofficially launched in Canada on Rogers in early July. I know people who are waiting for the official launch to purchase their iPhone but the question I have is why? You will pay more than I did initially, have to sign a 3 year contract that will cost who knows how much more than regular phone contracts, (ouch) and no access to third party apps until sometime after the new year if we believe Apple. The good people developing the iPhone hacks have done a great job and no doubt will continue. It's so easy to get it working on Rogers because of their work why wouldn't you do it considering all of the negatives to going 'legit'?
- t1t0, on 11/05/2007, -0/+6If their US prices are still a bit cheaper than the Canadian ones, than they didn't equalize pricing now did they... ;)
- supermanred, on 11/05/2007, -1/+7It's universal healthcare, and we invented penicillin you *****. And yes, we are on the cutting edge. We have healthcare for every citizen, some of the best healthcare in the world. Just pray you dont get cancer but if you do rest assured all the hospitals on University Ave in Toronto will be waiting for you. You'll have to pay though, you aren't Canadian.
- wheezy360, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5Rogers is the only GSM provider in Canada (afaik - maybe Fido is too but Rogers owns Fido) so it'd have to be them. No way this would be adapted for CDMA.
- Zippo, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4Well, Leopard was the exact same price for both countries. Here's hoping they follow suit with the iPhone.
- Jiggernaut82, on 11/06/2007, -1/+5Up until last week I worked at Rogers Wireless and I can tell you that the Iphone is coming with 100% certainty but it will be a Q1 launch phone. And incase you cared so will the Nokia N95
- drn666, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4While Rogers data rates ARE horrible compared to our American friends, things are getting better. I'm now paying a "mere" $80/month for 500MB transfer on my unlocked iPhone. The nest lowest package is $60 for 30MB (I use about 200 of my allotment). Bell Mobility, a CDMA Rogers competitor, is finally offering $75/unlimited plans for PC card owners and Rogers knows this - my most recent talk with our business account rep yielded much hinting that Rogers has heard the "data costs too much" cries finally and aggressive new price plans should be coming in time for iPhone.
Also - Rogers has told me (take this with a grain) that users of unlocked iPhones would qualify for any "iPhone packages" that Rogers chooses to release. Their position is always "it's the service we're after, not the hardware sale". - bigbadgoat, on 11/05/2007, -1/+5I'm surprised the US isn't starting to claim we have WMDs, We do have nuclear power plants. we MUST be up to no good. INVADE!
- potifar, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4What, you think Apple will postpone a planned iPhone launch because we found out before they announced it?
- quickjack, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4From what i have read there is a significant trademark issue in Canada. This along with rumors that there is a data pricing issue would need to be resolved before we wake up to our back bacon, maple syrup and iPhone.
- Naga10, on 11/07/2007, -0/+4You know, while Toronto is the biggest city, about 25 million people still live elsewhere in Canada. Toronto isn't the centre of the universe.
- CasadeMike, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4Maybe all the people in Canada who want an iPhone. That's my guess anyway you F-Tard.
- greatclare, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4I was in the Apple Store at the Eaton Centre on Friday and asked about this, what happened was Apple Corporate copied/pasted the Yankee stores' schedule into the Canuck stores.
Oops! - HollowMystery, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3You might want to check the US vs. Canadian prices again. All laptops and desktops are still anywhere from about 10 - 16% higher for Canadians (*and that was when the two currencies were at par). With the US dollar sitting at about .9350 Canadian, that pushes hardware prices to over 20% premium Canadians have to pay.
- dhughes, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4 Whatever. I'm not going to get one.
Although, I can see it now after someone buys an iPhone probably some kid's dad gives him one and you'll see later how they will be suing their cell provider because *somehow* they racked up a $5000 monthly bill, which wouldn't be too hard to do considering our data rates...a $1/MB is common. - teh_techie, on 11/05/2007, -1/+4Actually, it's not Rogers AT&T anymore. Hasn't been for a number of years. It's just "Rogers Wireless". When Cingular bought AT&T Wireless way back when, at that same time, Rogers in Canada dropped the AT&T part of the name and logo.
From Wikipedia on AT&T:
Rogers AT&T Wireless was a publicly traded partnership between Rogers and AT&T. It operated a mobile network in Canada until Rogers bought out AT&T's stake in 2004 and took the company private
So, no AT&T links in Canada... - dhughes, on 11/05/2007, -1/+4 You'll have to find us on a map first :P
- winnopeg, on 11/05/2007, -1/+3Description of the event: "Get to know your new iPhone in a workshop that takes you through the basics. See how easy it is to make calls, send email, use Safari to browse the web, and much more. Sign up or drop in. (Workshop)"
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -2/+4Tell me sir, do you know of any Canadians? Do you associate with any Canadians? Have you spent time alone with Canadians in the past? Do you suspect any co-workers of being Canadian or sympathetic to Canadians? ANSWER THE QUESTION!
- phronko, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2But doesn't it cost a few hundred dollars to check your email with Rogers' data rates?
- wildmXranat, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Rogers/Bell duopoly created data plans are as much fun as legalized rapes. Who gives a f@ck if it ever comes here.
What apple is really saying : "Customer , please bend over ..." - nogami, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2If they offered $20 / 500mb, I'd probably bite, but not any more than that. Of course with iPhone, they better be offering unlimited data for really damn cheap, or they'll have consumers screaming at them.
- elfuego, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Rogers does own Fido, and they're Canada's only option for GSM. And unfortunately, their data plans are absolutely ridiculous. Sure, it'd be nice if Apple's pricing on the iPhone was equal to the US, but I'd gladly pay $100 more for the phone if it meant getting US data rates.
- carterx, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2I would love to see the iphone head to Canada, but from what I understand, Rogers wants like $350/month for the same offering in the US. If Rogers stopped gouging and lowered the price to a reasonable price, they would have to then do the same for all their BlackBerry users etc.
- nogami, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2My only question would be is if they're going to truly support the iPhone and offer an unlimited data service for it, or if Roger$ will be bending their customers over like they've done for years (ie: data plans priced only for desperate business users with deep pockets).
- pridebowl, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1The same event was there for Nov.3. Did anyone in that area go?
- phronq, on 11/06/2007, -1/+2Free yourself from your electronic bonds.
- Speed, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Or, you know, could be the trademark thing with Comewave's Iphone...
- PlainJoe, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1"plus the 802.11g ("Wifi") radio has been disabled in the Rogers Wireless iPhone. Hey Apple and rogers"
Is this for real!? Then I'm out, and they'll drive every Canadian to the blackmarket for hacked US versions. - inactive, on 11/06/2007, -2/+3Aw *****, I can't believe you've done this.
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1@Teh Techie
Actually , Cingular bought AT&T wireless then sold the AT&T wireless name back to AT&T so that they could creatse a new AT&T wireless piggy backing on the service which means that some of you out there will go from being AT&T Wireless subcribers, to Cingular subscribers, only to become AT&T Wireless subscribers all over again. isn't cellular companies GREAT !!!( sarcasm ) !! - Inspiron700m, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1It could also be January 18th...but who knows:
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/2007/12/02/apple-ipho ... - Speed, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Woah Woah Woah! Let them find their own country on a map first, buddy.
- sdfisher, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1It's almost certainly some content meant for another country that ended up in the Canada section. It happens all the time.
- ausfahrt, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Did anyone else notice this is same day as the Uk release. Just a mistake me thinks! Also consider that they gave the uk a couple months of notice that it was being released on that same day. Don't you think that they would do the same in Canada.
