- Visk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49I love how he gets marked up +12 on digg. If I say "Apple rules", can I get a +15 as well?
- MBX1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+47apple rules. best computer company in the world.
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35a Mac + bootcamp + Windows Xp is the cleanest and easiest install of windows xp I have ever seen. All the drivers none of the bloat...

- mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24"Marked as LAME!"
comment marked as lame. - Drewboy64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Boy do I agree. From installing Bootcamp to installing drivers, it was so easy and simplistic.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Wait... what? You have a qualified version of XP Pro SP1 or earlier?
Google "Slipstreaming Windows XP SP2" or check it out on the Win Super Site.
You know, you would think with "The Google" being so pervasive that people would actually get *smarter* not *lazier*. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13What the ***** are you talking about man?
- dextro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14You do realize that you can download a "less than legal" version of XP SP2 and then enter in your legal serial? There's nothing wrong with that.
- benlundquist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Thank You Apple!
- codyfrisch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8if your sata drives don't work, considering the mac pro runs from sata drives, would you explain how you're even able to boot?
or do you mean eSATA or a secondary SATA controller? if thats the case, go download the windows drivers for those as they are 3rd party.
but if you don't have a driver for the hard drives, how are you able to even say windows works at all under boot camp?
and the little code thing below i just noticed contains "666d6" scary.. - varchar32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8
do you have any clue how to click and read? follow the link, look at updates on the right hand corner. - AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yes.. here's how.
1. Run the BootCamp Installer package as normal (this will replace your bootcamp assistant with the newer version)
2. Navigate to Applications/Utilities/ and right/control click on the Boot Camp Assistant and chose "show package contents"
3. Navigate to Contents/Resources and mount the DiskImage.dmg you find there.
4. Copy the "Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe" to your windows harddrive.
5. Reboot to Windows and Install the drivers. - nvoll84, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5
"Is there anyway to update without reinstalling windows, like burning a new driver disk?"
Yeah just update boot camp, run it and burn a new driver disk. The new drivers will install right over the old ones. - autoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Also, better international keyboard layout support :)
- foshaug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4System requirements for bootcamp states: A bona fide installation disc for Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Home or Professional (No multi-disc, upgrade or Media Center versions.)
- Taikun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7You cannot use an upgrade version of Windows XP to install on a macbook. Normally with a PC when doing a clean install (which you have to do with bootcamp) with an upgrade disk, setup asks you to eject the disk and put in an older version of Windows to validate that you qualify for the upgrade. This disk can be 2000, ME, 98, even 95.
The fact that you cannot eject the disk on a mac during the XP setup procedure (because it's a software button) means that you cannot use an upgrade version of Windows. Which means you have to spend another couple hundred dollars to get the full version, simply because of that software button.
@threepio
This has nothing to do with service packs. I know how to use google and I know how to slipstream an XP disk, but neither of those things have anything to do with what I'm talking about. Think before calling someone lazy, please. - spunkmyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I had hoped that Apple would fix the internal speaker forever on in the Mac Pro but alas this is still a issue. The only work-around I have found is to plug a set of head phones into the front head phone jack and it shuts up the internal speaker. Some adventurous people have found the correct registry keys to disable the windows driver for the speaker on the mac mini and the mac book's but so far no hack for us mac pro users.
Here's hoping for v1.1.3
Spunkmyer - waykohler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4OR install new bootcamp assistant.
Run bootcamp assistant.
Choose save drivers to directory from menu. - limpidezza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Are you using an optical output for your sound? If so, you can turn the volume all the way down in windows and it will continue to play out through your speakers. Worked for me.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've used a multi-disk CD a number of times to install XP using Boot Camp.
- Macattack15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No... nor the problems reconnecting to my airport network.
- dkdonuts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2does anyone know how to get the c2d mbpro airport working in windows?
i tried downloading the dlink v1.02 dwa-645 driver but it doesnt install correctly. hopefully this update will fix it - holybins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When are they going to add bluetooth support at bootup!? I need to get back to windows...and I have no USB keyboard :(
- Byroncoughlin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you run Bootcamp and go to Utility at the top, you can click on "Save Macintosh Drivers To Folder" and save them to an external disk. Or if you have Macdrive, you can save them to your apple hard drive and copy it over when you get into windows.
But yes you could just burn another disc. - OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Trackpad scrolling and right-click support on Apple Laptops"
it is supported, and now I have a reason to use Bootcamp over Parallels. - aptiva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's supported. (did you even read the article?)
- eschompthis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1does this fix the clock starting over problem?
- Morky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glad to see the iSight works, albeit with much lower quality than on OS X. Seems odd that would be the case. The trackpad support is also very welcome and makes the system much more pleasurable to use. The Mac is now a viable Windows laptop.
- BarryScott, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Is there anyway to update without reinstalling windows, like burning a new driver disk?
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so, a single install for drivers = no bloat. I don't quite understand that comment, but there ya go.
my pc installs everything, apart from wireless adaptor using drivers from the xp cd. Now that's a clean, and fast install. ;D - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why spoil your nice new mac?
- shieldss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This update completely screwed up Windows. I now have to remove the partition and re-install.
- varchar32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
I love my macbook with OS X. and it does Windows better than a windows laptop.
all native in one: OSX, Windows, *nix. - ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha i guess people mistook my comment. I asked if he was kidding because its in the article.
- brodylo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I spoke too soon, there is no tap clicking, there is just the ability to right click. you put 2 fingers on the track pad and push the trackpad button.
much nicer than the apple-click you used to have to do but I really hope they add tap clicking soon. - brodylo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I installed it, and the 2 button scrolling is working pretty well, sometimes it kinda looks like it isn't gonna do it and you gotta take your fingers off and try again. not as smooth as mac but basically awesome.
the real problem is I can't figure out how to turn on the tap clicking or tap right clicking, is there something in control panel or what? - Morky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Agreed. Now if Apple will sell Windows we should be able to get OEM pricing. That would allow Apple to compete directly with Dell and HP in the PC market. Why not?
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i suggest getting a better laptop next time then. it's not only apple that can make laptops with drivers that work.
- iudigger, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4yes it is...
- NetGX, on 10/12/2007, -11/+7I wonder when two finger tap for right click will be supported. It's the only reason i'm sticking with parallels
- an0nym0us, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4If it's any consolation, I'd digg you.
As a matter of fact, I just did. - ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1...you're kidding, right?
- orbitalpunk, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1bootcamp is far from perfect. dont give me this "apple is the best" crap. I have a mac pro and my SATA drives dont work and also my external isight. this sucks. and yea yeah, i know its beta. but come on. its been out for a while. make some driver at least for the hard drives. jesus.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2Do any of you mac fanboys have any fvckin clue what this update does?
- johnwc723, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2apple is the worst computer company in the world
- Taikun, on 10/12/2007, -21/+3If only the Mac had a hardware eject button... then people wouldn't be forced to have to buy the full version of XP Professional just because they can't eject the upgrade disk to put in a qualified older version.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -25/+1No you should be marked as lame!
- Rain-X, on 10/12/2007, -86/+2Marked as LAME!
