Ad = Advertisement, as in "I found this Ad!" - penguinboy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+44It's not a typo if it's spelled wrong in three different places.
- MarkJaquith, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23penguinboy's correction was polite and constructive. "Oops, I won't do that again!" would be a good way to handle this in the future.
- sixspeed, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25You want to submit something to a public forum then learn to spell. Bitch.
Or at least don't piss and moan when someone tries to educate your ignorant ass. - dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Apple anything from twenty-plus years ago=automatic front-page story!
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Really. I saw the 3 exclamation marks (I guess 2 wan't enough) and immediately thought "OMG PONIES!!!"
- SeanCK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Dear bullet storm,
Even in your witty, sarcastic reply your grammar and spelling were incorrect. FYI: "incase" is not in the dictionary. You meant "in case." Also, you missed a comma after "errors." The corrected version of your sentence is below.
"God knows typos, or should I say typographical errors, are unheard of on the internet and in case you missed it, that was sarcasm."
Best,
Sean - alexdagrate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I can't believe how much printers cost back then, and you got to hear the lovely sound of dot matrix!
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Welp I guess it's time to finally invest in a second floppy drive.
- SpectreBlofeld, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Really??? From 1987!!?? NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- zeabrid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What? You mean it wasn't called a "Mouse" the entire time?
Hand Controller...pfft. - Castaa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude, pricewatch *soooo* beats those prices.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, that settles that. Tech support guys like to snoop around inside your computer while they're working on them. Better delete my world domination plans right now.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3cool ad
- jiub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The computer was physically wrapped in the newspaper that this ad was in. It wasn't a file on the computer.
- Mr.Glass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the computer was packed with a newspaper, idiots. it wasnt on the computer, it came with the computer. the guy obviously didnt care about it/felt they might be interested.
- knid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, that Camera Shop is still in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center. About 2 minutes from my house.
I love how in the bottom corner it says how the ad was created. Like "Wow, you did this on a com-pu-ter? That's amazing!" - MedHead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey, I recognize that The Camera Shop logo (I work for the parent company).
http://www.ritzinteractive.com/ - vagabondgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's what I was thinking about, unfortunately I don't live in the states. Could someone call at the ad's number and ask for a joystick and a 256k exp. kit for Apple II? I'd be very interested to see their reaction.
PS. If they're still available, count me in :) - sHARD>>, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Psssh, 18 years.
Hehe. - codyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's an inflation calculator.. that apple computer advertised for 1500 is about 2500 in 2005 dollars..

- KayMan2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HOLY CRAP! I have visited that 'Camera Shop' several times looking at digital cameras! Always though they were a bit expensive...
- Petarded, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The price on the paper doesn't make sense to me.
I could buy 2,500 sheets for $24.99, or I could spend .50c more and get 3 boxes of 1,000 sheets. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NOTE: ALL DIGGERS PLEASE CHECK COMMENT FOR SPELLING AND GRAMMAR

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dict.asp?Word=Incase - delinka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Odd? Not so much these days. Compare the per unit price (say, $/oz) on something at your local grocery chain store. If something comes in three sizes (say, sour cream), the smallest one usually has the higher price per ounce; the largest has barely any savings over the smallest; and the medium one actually gives you the best deal. Not always, but I see this often.
Corporate America maximizing prices. I'd expect the same thing with paper, actually. - dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Only four grand for a laser printer!

It's 19 years - zigziggityzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you wanted to be extremely anal then you should have corrected it to be
"God knows THAT typos...." - Griffin-of-UC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would guess it's because this was perforated dot matrix paper, it was kinda a pain to change so you may have been able to charge premium for the consumer not having to change as often. That's the only reason I can think of that economies of scale wouldn't apply here.
- stinkipete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice to get things back on topic.
Modems were priced amazingly high, too. Quite interesting the way that some technologies increase in price as they improve, and others decrease. I suppose that the ones that increase in price have made more significant advances, and still have lower-level technologies available that are the standard. - bamiller3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I gotta get me one of those "hand controllers"
- dipswitch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1$599 for a demo?!
- johnjreiser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I used to live in the Philly Metro area and haven't seen a Camera Stop in years...
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- SeanCK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dear f8pc,
You are incorrect. One does not use a comma when separating two thoughts in a sentence. "And" is sufficient.
You lose,
Sean - eohlin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude! The LaserWriter was the first consumer-level PostScript output device. It CHANGED the publishing world in a VERY significant way. If it wasn't for Apple's adoption of PostScript; Adobe would exist, desktop publishing wouldn't exist. Desktop publishing was the peoples' "blog" of the Eighties. Quark was SO awesome back then! Too bad it sucks now. Viva la InDesign!

- smkelly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I was kind of wondering about that as well. He clearly admits that he got the file from a machine he was working on. I hope he was working on something that would have given him due cause to be looking at that file, such as trying to fix file/program associations or something. Otherwise, he's a bad monkey and deserves no candy.
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I reported that as old news, just like I reported this as lame. This one isn't even news. It's lameness has nothing to do with Apple.
- Matt23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hah hah hah. Actually, you don't need a comma there.
- wookitus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You made an error in your second to last sentence as well. I hope that was on purpose.
