- cyberdork, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35How does the average user play backup games on their Xbox?
Not at all.
Good that we are not average users... - longboarder543, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Glad to know I found the "default site"
- theheadguy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27[insert comment here about how ATV sucks and my Zune rocks and I hate Apple but can't keep my head out of the Apple section]
/sarcasm - WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15We're too busy watching Netflix and Tivo, when we're not using XBMC to play network video... Seriously though, having to burn the movies to disc first is a huge pain in the ass...
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Man.. TRI-POD! TRIPOD DAMMIT! Or at least a few frigging books on table or something!
- MikeDugg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7And how does the average user program his apple TV to do this?

- GCarden, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I think there should be a new category for AppleTV hacks on Digg...
- HeavyMetaler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ericIII already has an updated version with a filebrowser like structure to find files to watch from remote shares ie: nfs/afp
It's just a matter of copying the file over to the atv via ssh /sftp/scp whatever
or you can take the source and tweak it to your liking and compile it yourself in xcode. Then just copy it to the atv
This will be the most streamlined method of watching xvids/wahatever - news234, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://thedvdvideo.com/
IN this site you can download Over 1000 Full-Length Movies Available Instantly! - osage, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4i agree on the AppleTV hacks category...
Wgat i would like is:
• torrent-plugin. Search 4 movies. download en play.
• podcast updater, downloads new podcasts directly 2 Apple TV (no sync or stream)
• play DivX
Is there a MIRROR??? - diggeridooo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's released now, improved version. No longer hardcoded. http://www.awkwardtv.org/?p=19
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I thought there was already xvid support via one of the hacks? (xvid plays back divx, fyi.)

- chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2But AppleTV already plays movies?
- cyberdork, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4I also have a cheap Divx/xvid player from LG. I think I paid 90 Euro for it about 2 years ago. Works perfectly, it swallows everything. And I download A LOT!
I never understood why those divx standalone players didn't take off in the US. - SteaminTmann, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3@cyberdork
average users probably will buy apple TVs, while non(above)-average (who this is probably most useful for), probably already own modded xboxes - meshman, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3Just buy a Phillips DVD player and burn stuff from your computer onto DVD-RW's. It plays everything (except maybe the locked up crap from iTunes) and you don't have to 'hack' it or suffice with 1gb movies in degraded quality. $60. Or spend a little more than AppleTV and hook a real computer up to your TV. That's what I've been doing for the last 5 years or more. Where's Apple been?
