- samuel514, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5I'm getting the APP for a macbookPro. Really top class support that I'have heard about made my choice. Also, a friend of mine got is old Ipod Nano 2 got replace by the new one...for free ! :)
- MurphyMac, on 04/15/2008, -0/+4I tell anyone with a laptop to get it. They're more likely to have things go wrong between the heat and the jostling. And repairing a Macbook or MBP yourself isn't for everyone.
I've never had a laptop (Compaq, Thinkpad, Mac) that didn't need a repair at some point in the first two years. AppleCare is expensive, plain and simple. I gambled without it on my G5 and won. But I have it on my Macbook and Macbook Pro. - vault, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't buy it for an iPod/AppleTV/iPhone but for any laptop or desktop it's a must, just for the peace of mind.
- ploke, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I have had great experiences with applecare, fixed cracks in my macbook casing and a fraying magsafe cord with no questions asked.
- greytfriend, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1For a laptop, it's a definite. I have my first laptop and had a problem with discs getting stuck in the drive. When I took it in for repair the "Genius" implied that the problem happens all of the time. They actually had the replacement in the store and called in 2 hours to say the computer was ready to be picked up. I'd say for a desktop, in part it depends on what type of user you are. My Dad is always on the cutting edge, buying the newest software and requiring unusual uses of it. He also isn't the type to shrug off any problems. He's spent more hours than I can count on the phone with tech support.
- MurphyMac, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I'd think it goes without saying that there's little point in buying until just before the first year is up. But then again lots of things that should go without saying need to be said.
- greytfriend, on 04/15/2008, -0/+0Sorry, I forgot to mention that for my iPhone, when it was doing something fluky, they did their routine of trying to fix it, and then just replaced it. No fuss, no muss. I'm not sure how the dollars break down, but the lack of stress was worth a lot. I'm too attached to these machines now to do without for any period of time.
- purana, on 04/15/2008, -0/+0If you plan on selling the machine then the purchase of APP is not practical, as it will not result in an extra amount of cash to cover the cost of the APP. Atleast in my experience.
But I do advise that Laptop users should purchase it if you plan on keeping the machine for a long period. It's totally worth it for the peace of mind. - purana, on 04/15/2008, -2/+1If you don't plan on keeping the machine longer then the year, then I say don't buy it. Sell the machine just before the 12 months is up, then the buyer can buy it if they wish. As you don't make much more on the sale if the machine has it or not. Certainly not enough extra to cover the outlay of the APP.
