it's not fake , it's called iPodlinux and it can play avi files encoded the right way.
YOu only bad thing is that clips can't be more than 11 minutes so for tv shows I split it in half with Virtual Dub and convert it with Mopid. - greekgoat91, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cool, i did the same with my 4g iPod with iPodlinux. Too bad it's in black and white. It's Definitely worth a try.

I mean of course I would never condone anything that would risk non compliance to the DMCA but since we're talking...

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I did this a while back and made a video (but never thought anyone would give a sh@t). Its very slick, the audio only goes out of sync if you run audio before playing the video. Hopefully this will get fixed, but as of yet, ipodlinuxs official stance is that this model is unsupported. It does work great though. I even play Doom on my nano. mynickel is right though, it only plays uncompressed avi files, so space is a factor. Cool for some short podcasts though.

but yea it works w. 4g u2, color & black and white, you just need the installer specifically for 4gs. The iPod video goes from like 20 hours of music to 3 of video, i wonder if this gets more than 3 hours of video.
