- Zuwxiv, on 12/04/2008, -2/+18I hate when new, useful, high-profile applications come out.
Because they make me feel awful for having such ridiculous applications as World 9 (makes a Mario sound effect when you jump), Advent (a text-based RPG that I'll never play), Twitterific (which I never use), Graffitio (which nobody else uses), or any other of my remarkably useless applications that are meticulously organized on my iPhone in a manner as organizationally useful and aesthetically pleasing as The Steve Jobs would want himself. - zacbro, on 12/04/2008, -4/+15Can I use it to buy DRM free music on my iPhone? Cause Apple doesn't seem to be fulfilling that need.
- zappo1776, on 12/03/2008, -2/+10The Amazon remembers tool sounds interesting:
"take a photograph of any product you see in the real world. The photos are then uploaded to Amazon and turned over to the far-flung freelance workers in Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program, who will try to match them with products for sale on Amazon.com." - FreddieD, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5I wonder what results will be once I send them goatse
- ngmcs8203, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Is there a support group for us?
- joshefosho, on 12/04/2008, -2/+6This cupcake is ***** delicious.
- Diggsterrr, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4And I thought I was the only one, I know EXACTLY what you mean...
- mark076h, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4No, SnapTell only works on certain products like movies, books and a few other things this will work on everything.
- IHaveCrayons, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5Wow, 1C751 you are sooo cool. You commented iPhone Digg article just to tell everyone you don't have an iPhone! God, rebels are so cool! I guess you're one of the tiny minority of a few billion that don't have one.
- thedragon4453, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5Installed this today. Waiting to see how quickly the remember feature gives a reply. Looks pretty promising though.
Still jealous of bar code scanning on the G1 though. - CrushThemTorg, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Learning Ruby, I see.
- chunkybacon44, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Chunky Bacon!
- IHaveCrayons, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3I tried it out today and it is pretty speedy. I noticed the native app was considerably faster than the already great web app. It's nice to have, but not totally necessary.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -2/+4Yup, still don't care.
- Serenity101, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3amazon.ca STILL isn't selling any of the neat stuff you can get on amazon.com. :
/pout - inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2No, the most you can do is add the track to your wish list, then go to the computer and buy + download it from there.

http://tinyurl.com/5u3pm2 - MacParrot, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Wow! Didn't realize that there were still some people stupid enough to think that Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, every other company selling music online that isn't their own have ANY control over what has DRM and what hasn't. Bet you hate those Geico caveman commercials too.
- MHunt, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1You've obviously never used Mechanical Turk. This will probably actually work on a smaller subset of everything in the world than SnapTell does and will take longer.
Check it out yourself. http://www.mturk.com - thedragon4453, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Actually just gave the remember feature a shot. Got an email within about 5 minutes. Gave me a very similar product, but amazon doesnt actually sell the exact product I sent.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I wish anon would invade the apple store. ***** mactards...
- rolf, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2When will the Pirate Bay Amazon App hit the iPhone?
http://torrentfreak.com/firefox-pirates-take-over- ... - Stryker336, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Would rather use amazon over apple store anyday.
http://RewardsLink.info - coldfusion1970, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Yes you can. Apple sell quite a lot of DRM free music.
And the rumour is that they are negotiating with the other major music labels to make the rest of their music DRM free.
Any other questions? - Seidoger, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1US-only app it seems. I can't find it in my iTunes' or iPhone's AppStore
- soupdawg30, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I have actually been waiting for amazon to do this.
- erichh, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Unfortunately it is only available in the US App Store!
- swimtwobirds, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1dont know of the drm free tracks will go over the air.
jesus i have to get off 1.1, I'm missing everything but
im terrrified to upgrade & mess up the unlock and hacking for 02 uk. - MacParrot, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2Why don't you give it a go and report back
- debtman7, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1I actually signed up for mechanical turk to see what this does on the backend.
It looks like there are two phases. The first phase amazon pays $0.01 for and is just saying whether it's available on amazon.com or not. The second phase pays $0.10 and is actually finding a amazon product matching or close to what is in the picture.
Of course, this is horribly flawed... The first thing I noticed is that the first phase pays regardless of what you click. You could breeze through a ton without actually bothering to see first.
This becomes a problem for the second phase, I noticed a lot of images were of things that didn't really have close matches on amazon, or were pictures that were so dark or blurry you couldn't tell what it actually was. Should be interesting to see how this pans out... From my browsing, most of the submissions right now are just people playing with it. Almost all of them were accessories on a desk, the shoes people were wearing, watches, etc. - Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1Can't you just upload DRM free music from other sources directly to the phone's storage? or is iTunes a requirement to do that?
- ericjorgensen, on 12/04/2008, -0/+0"Amazon.com Invades the Apple App Store" Sounds so violent. How about, Amazon.com makes an iPhone app?
- CrushThemTorg, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1Glad I don't have an iPhone. I'd do my best Dr. Orpheus impression and wail "activate the Mechanical Turk!" whenever I used it.
- benologist, on 12/04/2008, -3/+3* if it's approved.
- chunkybacon44, on 12/09/2008, -0/+0Hehe yep.
- brandita, on 12/04/2008, -3/+2Amazon and Apple, what more could you ask for?
- diggater, on 12/04/2008, -1/+0I think Amazon winner in last.
- CandidateZero, on 12/04/2008, -2/+1Oh *****! It's an invasion, or rather, a totally unsurprising business move!
- MHunt, on 12/03/2008, -6/+4SnapTell already does this, but works instantly rather than having to wait until a Mechanical Turk worker identifies the object.

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/11/19/snaptell-inst ... - robbob, on 12/04/2008, -3/+1I bought something on Amazon last week with my iPhone.
What was the name of that app??? Oh yeah, Safari. - skeletorcares, on 12/04/2008, -7/+2Can you buy apple drm on it?

What is Digg?
