- BrendanSheehan, on 12/21/2008, -1/+18Woz: " moving to Intel is a bad idea", "the iPhone (before it came out) would be a bad idea".
- josepablos, on 12/21/2008, -5/+22Jonathan Ive kick ass!
- championchap, on 12/21/2008, -1/+17Who NEEDS the Kwik-E Mart?
I DOOOOOOOO!! - marcushe, on 12/21/2008, -1/+17I disagree - Jonathan Ive is an artist, not a business CEO.
- garagepunk, on 08/05/2009, -6/+20Jonathan Ive
the only person who could still seriously figurehead such an innovative company, he's creative, quirky, and responsible for materialising steve's vision accurately and then some - BrendanSheehan, on 12/21/2008, -4/+17ME
- jumbobrian, on 12/21/2008, -1/+13Oh please, Steve Jobs will run Apple for all eternity. If he's sick and steps down, a sick Steve Jobs will still be in charge. If he dies, a lifeless corpse Steve Jobs will still be in charge.
Apple's smart enough to know when they've got a good thing going. - gllopc, on 12/21/2008, -1/+12You're right - but he's got the look. The others look like soccer dads.
- BiggPapi, on 12/20/2008, -1/+11My vote is for Ron Jon
- brandita, on 12/21/2008, -0/+7The black dancing silhouette in the iPod commercials.
- kidcodea, on 12/21/2008, -2/+9damn he's so charismatic i just jizzed in my pants...
and i didnt even click the link.
powerful charisma. - marcushe, on 12/21/2008, -1/+8I think it's pretty obvious it will be Phill Schiller. He has done a lot in previous keynotes and is running the show at the next MacWorld. Steve also seems to hold him in high esteem.
- BrendanSheehan, on 12/21/2008, -1/+8Nah, he's to busy working at the bottom of the sea for Mapple. Reminds me, I still can't unlock Myphone 3G.
- NickLee808, on 12/21/2008, -0/+7I vote for HAL 9000.
- zodieman, on 12/21/2008, -1/+7The incredible management team will run Apple, just like they currently do.
Steve is a figure head who has a lot of input into the products but he's not the guy who handles the finances, designs the products, makes the products or even politely takes your money at the Apple store. - rebrad, on 12/21/2008, -0/+6There are quite a few wonderboys from Wall Street and Detroit that are looking for a job. Apple may even get lucky and get someone from Pepsi to re-market Apple.
- benologist, on 12/21/2008, -0/+5Pretty sure CNN can handle digg's traffic...
- mentor1972, on 12/21/2008, -1/+6Steve Ballmer and of course the Chaos!!!!
- cthellis, on 12/21/2008, -0/+5Ive is a tremendous creative/design director, but that's not going to translate into the business/leadership chops they need from a CEO. He'll continue to have a dickload of influence over future products, but it's pretty obvious Tim Cook is the one most likely to step into that role if it's vacated. (And short of Jobs getting shot in the head, he'll still be "Chairmanning" it up to have a presence, just not as involved in the CEO day-to-day stuff.)
Plus, Cook eases the transition by having a nice short last name that is also a word. ;-) - brandita, on 12/21/2008, -1/+6Yes I do but it consisted of other MP3 players that lacked design. Diamond Rio anybody?
- gllopc, on 12/21/2008, -0/+5Liar!
- championchap, on 12/21/2008, -1/+6iPods?
***** that. - Jeezoflip, on 12/21/2008, -3/+8Phil Schiller has my vote. Scott Forstall is a *****, and Bertrand Serlet cant speak correctly.
- xbxoxy1, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4you just want Jonny Ive cause he looks like Jobs
- ZenFu, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4I see what you did there
- ism70605, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4Sort of how Kim Il-Sung rules the DPRK even though he died over a decade ago? Awesome.
- paradigmxx, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4Will Apple fail without Steve Jobs again? Been wondering for awhile.
- Digglet69, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4someone is going to accidentally apple
- chongli, on 12/21/2008, -2/+6My vote is for Jonathan Ive. He's far more creative and charismatic than any of the other candidates. Check out this video to see how charismatic he is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOnCRWUsSGA - liquisoft, on 12/21/2008, -1/+5Just because he designs brilliant products doesn't mean he knows ***** about running a company. There is more to Apple than shiny casings, believe it or not (and I know it's hard to believe for some, but it's true).
- NickLee808, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4HAL 9000.
- gllopc, on 12/21/2008, -0/+4Boom!
- shark72, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3So here's my Ron Johnson story:
I was at Apple last year -- not the HQ, but the Bubb Road office. I told my host that I admired the Maserati in the parking lot.
"Is it a convertible?", he asked. When I affirmed this, he said that it was Ron Johnson's, purchased by his wife for him as a Christmas present. He already had a coupe version of the same model, and his wife saw fit to buy him a convertible to go along with it.
That's what you get for driving a pretty damn impressive retail strategy. The Apple stores are basically Ron's brainchild. - Pkkaster, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3Steve Jobs no longer running apple? That's like Batman dying in the DC universe... Oh wait...
- moofer, on 12/21/2008, -2/+5Steve Jobs wasn't much of a CEO when he started out either. Jonny Ive has blessed every design to come out of that company, and is a very logical choice for the next CEO. He hit it right on the head.
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -1/+4I'd love to see Jony Ive at the helm, but I'm sure it will end up being Tim Cook - he has the kind of smarmy arrogance that I'm sure the board wants as chief.
- AboveandBeyond, on 12/21/2008, -2/+5EVE
- mikeophile, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3When I read, "We are in the early stages of changing roles in Apple’s management structure.", I interpret it as, "We are selling off our stock options as quietly and quickly as we can."
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -1/+4Vince Offer, the Shamwow guy.
- Tydence, on 12/21/2008, -1/+4Master Blaster runs Appletown...
