- theciuffo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41I hope this is real...
- alexmuller, on 10/10/2007, -2/+39True about the hi-res photos - can't believe I haven't seen more people mentioning that before now, but it's been an irritation for me
- cyrusaman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26CEOs of large corporations have admin assistants who screen their emails, but yes, they do reply to some filtered communication.
- ismith, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27It's probably real– I've emailed Steve Jobs and gotten either him (in person, on the phone!) or his assistant Tim O'Neill multiple times when my MacBook pro was acting up.
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Me too(I don't have a touch yet), I'm not sure how it's a bug though, more like an "oh *****, we probably shouldn't have intentionally removed it."
- jcaino, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26believe it or not, ceo's do check their e-mail. i think you may be surprised what some of them do read and respond to.
- toholio, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15People write to the address and they do sometimes get a response from Steve himself. Sometimes they get responses from other people at Apple.
I doubt Steve reads all of the e-mail that goes to that address. There is probably some human filtering that happens before it ends up in his "real" inbox. - derekivey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Now, if only Apple would bring back the email client that the iPhone has, then I would definitely buy the Touch.
- burstaneurysm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13It was ***** stupid of Apple to cripple the Touch as much as they did. Honestly, why can't the Touch truly be the iPhone minus the phone? It's not that tricky.
- pixelate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Is that why he simply will not respond to my question about free viagra?
- Daniel591992, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Yeah, I remember Bill Gates said that his own emails go through lots of filters before they make it to him.
- gypsie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Great. Now all I need from Apple is to add Notes to iPod Touch. (Mail wouldn't hurt either)
- morninglorii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5That would be good; I assume they added this intentional crippling to prevent the cannibalization of the iPhone market, but I feel like they're also turning off a lot of people from buying it at all. I am not going to buy an iPhone (not switching services for a phone), but I WOULD buy an iPod touch, because I've been needing a PDA for a long time and this looked perfect. However, the loss of Add/Edit calendar is obviously a dealbreaker when it comes to using it as a PDA... so this crippling lost them my $300-400. If they add it back, I'll reconsider.
- zabouth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7sure its a "bug"
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yes, because adding twice as much hardware is exactly the same as adding back funtionality that already exist in the software and which has been taken out for some reason or another...
- turpenine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5january at the dev conference is more likely.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Because he has nothing better to do.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Except, rarely are their real email addresses public. If sjobs@apple.com were his actual work email, he'd be deluged with spam and pointless fan mail enough that he'd get nothing done. My friend who works in Apple marketing (a UC Berkeley b-school graduate) tells me they're read by a marketing team, which is brilliantly effective as shown by these digg stories.
- adamgamble, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You really took a negative view of all of this. Do you really think they did all this stuff on purpose or some sacrifices needed to be made to make other things work. Obviously neither of us know, but I think its a little short sited to just state they did it on purpose, although it is possible.
- jayfehr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They have completely different OS's. Like trying to play Windows games on OS X. Just not going to happen. I'm sure they will make new games for it though.
- ttkgeek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Later in that same forum thread, he pasted the headers of the email. It's real.
- abrooks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I know of no "dev conference" in January....
- ZigVicious, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4do you mean "FR33 \/1@9r@!!!!1!!11!!"
- adamgamble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Because they have completely different inputs. I haven't played them, but I would have to imagine that the games for ipod are designed from the ground up for the click wheel. Sure, you could mimic the click wheel on the touch but that is a lame thing to do. It makes more sense to design new games around the new input scheme.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's not from Steve, it's from Steve's assistants.
- inkswamp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Is it possible to have one discussion on Digg that doesn't include idiots trying to hijack the forum into a childish Mac vs. PC argument or has Digg just become that much of a wasteland at this point?
- brewno2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3-deleted-
- neenach2002, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here's my proof it may not be a fake after all...
I think you're forgetting that the email that is being viewed was replied to by Steve, not the other way around. The only way it would show the "quoted" section is if it was quoted on Steve's end. There is an option to "increase quote level" in Mail.app
Also, the buttons aren't evenly spaced. At least for me.
As proof, here is a screenshot of an email I replied to that I sent to myself. I replied from Mail.app with the setting I explained above OFF. The only alterations I made were blacking out my last name and email address.
http://www.animekatsu.com/neenstuff/screenshots/pr ... - inkswamp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4More like "Think different, but don't expect us to bail your sorry ass out for doing things to your iPhone that we warned you wouldn't be supported."
Yeah, I know... it's that silly nuance thing. - Kymaera, on 10/10/2007, -6/+8I just love the fact that "Think Different" turned into: "Think different, but do it how we want you to."
- Rockmaninoff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Steve has AIDS?!?!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3it is buggy on the iPhone
- chroko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2So why did they ship it on the iPhone?
If it was good enough for the iPhone, why isn't it good enough for the Touch? - whistlerpro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Believe it or not it's not promoted, the example email on all apple products is steve@mac.com. He actually checks sjobs@apple.com its been in many news stories about unfortunate mac fans who complain to the address getting what they want.
- neenach2002, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Nope, it's not a screenshot from mail. It's a screenshot from .Mac's webmail interface. Mail doesn't have the "Actions" button, but .Mac does. Note to see this view, you have to double click the message.
- macsrock888, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hey did anyone notice that Steve job's email address is at the top hehe
hilarity ensues - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Open up???
Yeah and Steve will allow OSX on cheaper PCs. - Eschel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Indeed!
I'm really disappointed that that these three features are missing. Once there I don't think I'll need a smart phone (Apple or otherwise). - silver31u, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Maybe but they don't "give a *****" about his $400 but they surely do "give a *****" about the $400 of the thousands of people just like him. (me included).
- inkswamp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wonder why Apple couldn't get a couple programmers in there to whip up an emulator to run the games. Couldn't be that hard to do. The only problem might be the speed of it, but it would be worth a try.
- richardhenry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1CEO of Apple. (Oh 'cmon, it's a legitimate question!!)
- yabos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you follow any good Mac forum you will know that emailing Steve Jobs' address with your problems like bad repairs done on warranty etc. always gets a response and gets your problem fixed.
- theprez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I cancelled my order as soon as I knew the feature was removed. The iPod Touch holding calendar events is cool, but being able to add new events unlike the old iPods is what sold me, until we all found out the feature was stripped. If it comes back I'll reconsider as well.
- Jangles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1December/January, fair enough. Regardless I feel that it will be addressed in some way in the coming months.
- manitoba98xp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think he's talking about Macworld, which admittedly isn't a developer conference, but cut him some slack. Yes, we all know that WWDC is Apple's dev conference (summer).
- masgrada, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1/bad sarcasm
- kazersoza, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And really cool CEO's get hot admin assistants thay can chase around the office snapping a towl at there behind.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1WWDC is in always in the summer.
- arcticblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I dugg you up because it really is hard to deny that is what will happen.
- inkswamp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Tsk tsk... someone lost his man-crush on Steve Jobs.
