- ploke, on 12/09/2007, -0/+122I've been using this for about four days and it is a lot better than the CSS scripts that I was using before. On the down side, I didn't get to be the lucky 10 000th digg visitor.
- sorahn, on 12/09/2007, -1/+59now all we have to do is sit back and wait for the forthcoming http://whysafariisblocked.com
- Me1000, on 12/09/2007, -3/+48Safari is so much faster than FF on my Mac! FF2 doesn't pass the ACID2 test, I believe FF3 does, but it is still in beta.
So how about you let me use whatever browser I want, and keep quiet? - theblueprint, on 12/09/2007, -1/+27Right on, this is enough to get me using Safari again.
- lgc90, on 12/09/2007, -0/+18Meh, I use firefox on Windows, but stick to Safari on Mac. It's much faster, and very well integrated into the operating system as well as .Mac.
- macguy815, on 12/09/2007, -3/+20It's not. ***** off!
- stalefries, on 12/09/2007, -3/+17I'm not sure about this (I don't use Safari), but I think PithHelmet has Leopard support, and it can do adblocking as well.
- jordn, on 12/09/2007, -2/+16Excellent news. Now we can browse the web as it was supposed to be viewed, without all of that "COLLECT YOUR FREE GREEN CARD HERE!!1" crap.
kudos to the devs behind this. - nakile, on 12/09/2007, -0/+14Wow. Installed it and it blocked everything flawlessly out of the box without any configuration. It just works. :p
- davesawyer, on 12/09/2007, -0/+12I used Firefox for a long time until I upgraded to Leopard. Safari's speed on Leopard is unmatched by Firefox.
- AceTracer, on 12/09/2007, -1/+12And yet works perfectly fine, as I've been using it since it came out.
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -0/+11That is the new standard size of icons in Leopard. 512x512
- unloud, on 12/09/2007, -1/+10Wow, someone read my mind. I've been looking for something like this since those annoying blinking ads started showing up on here. It's kind of sad that I used to consider Digg's ads the least intrusive out there.
- CaptainAO, on 12/09/2007, -0/+8Yeah, this is a must have plug-in for Safari users. You don't have to configure anything and it doesn't block the CSS elements of websites like all the other ad blockers I've tried for Safari.
- iNunchuk, on 12/09/2007, -0/+8The Safari Icon is Awesome on that Page
- macguy815, on 12/09/2007, -1/+9Just hold down command when you click on a link, opens it in a new tab in the background.
- zephc, on 12/09/2007, -0/+7Works, but doesn't collapse blocked elements/containers
- mlostracco, on 12/10/2007, -0/+7It's because of the flashing, jiggling, sound-playing, intrusive, fraudulent "congratulations" ads that so many people are blocking them now. And sadly, that now includes Digg. The advertisers/spammers did it to themselves out of sheer greed, and now that's coming back to bite them.
- konstantinos88, on 12/09/2007, -2/+8There's also PithHelmet which I've been using for quite some time now, and I haven't seen an ad since:
http://www.culater.net/software/PithHelmet/PithHel ...
Just keep in mind this is only for Mac. - Stirk, on 12/09/2007, -0/+6This plugin and Inquisitor ( http://www.inquisitorx.com/safari/ ) keep me attached to Safari.
Couldn't live without them. - zweben, on 12/10/2007, -0/+51) It doesn't block YouTube videos for me.
2) You shouldn't even have to look at the interface.
3) You can move the icon into the Safari menu instead having its own menu, right in the preferences. - taizoshiozaki, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5I hope they port this to iPhone version.
- Takuro, on 12/10/2007, -1/+6PithHelmet is a lot better than AdBlock. It gives you more control over what content is actually blocked. I've found that AdBlock blocks some things that it shouldn't, while failing to block the things it should at times.

- Chirp08, on 12/09/2007, -0/+5whoa, best thing I've ever clicked on digg
- DarkDx, on 12/09/2007, -0/+5http://grandpagriffith.com/images/digg_screenshot. ...
- Me1000, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4or not...
- the_snitch, on 12/10/2007, -1/+5No, but your IQ is.
- Laxaloot, on 12/09/2007, -1/+5Great, but I can't use Safari as my main browser until I can use stumble upon and make the new pages force to tabs.
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -2/+6They need to work on porting this to the Windows Safari community.
- lickmygiggle, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4there is.
http://www.culater.net/thc/index.php?entry=/Develo ... - tpv2066, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4Agreed. Pithhelmet, esp w/ regex rules you make is far superior
- tpv2066, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4Pithhelmet FTW, far far better.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4and its not free
- djsim, on 12/09/2007, -2/+5The only working Leopard-ready version of PithHelmet is in beta.
- djh816, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4how's it compare to pithhelmet? (if you've used that is)
- davesawyer, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3Been using this for about a week. It has worked flawlessly since install. If you have Leopard, you should be just about out of excuses for switching to the much faster Safari browser.
- IslandSaint, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4Anyone have this installed? Does it work? Any downside?
- zeppo, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3If this really blocks the actual downloading of unwanted content as opposed to just hiding ads which apparently all other safari "ad blockers" do then I will be on safari :)
I might even actually donate to them. - mateo60, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3not just pop-up ads, it blocks banners too.
- nolz, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4HOSTS file anyone?
- FredB7, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4Wrong. SafariBlock[1] has been working fine since 10 Sep 2007 and is better IMO.
[1]http://fsbsoftware.com/SafariBlock.html - arjung, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3wanna give us the right one?
- djh816, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3after doing my own comparison, both on safari 3, they are about the same speedwise (neither really slows down page loading) and pithhelmet has the option to block more which gets rid of facebook left-side ads. Think I'll stick with it.
- TheNik, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3If your website is worth reading you can sell sponsor links to companies. Voila, unobtrusive income.
- orbitalpunk, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4Pithhelmet is much better.
- Burn, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3It blocks inline ads as well as popups.
- knodi, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3OMG finally.
- mlostracco, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Then turn off blocking for a second, visit the page to renew, and turn it back on again. Plus, maybe it's because you're visiting Flicr instead of Flickr. :-P
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2it is out. it's in beta. using it now, but beware! it's a bit unstable.
don't know about stumble upon, though -
