- Nahor, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15It's pretty sad that they guy can't say who he is for fear of being fired
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3lol, is he in retail, or corporate?
honestly, this is too extreme. - flypcide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37No it's not. No company wants it's dirty laundry or inside secrets aired on the internet. You can't blame them for that.
@ koregaonpark: please, for the love of all that is holy, stop sending us to a blog, to read about another blog. Just send us directly to the freakin' story already! - Monolith2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Wow, did you guys actually read his first couple posts? He has the literary ability of a toaster. "by a macbook pro!"
And i love how in his first post he says he's going to make a "genuine attempt to join and advance the conversation", yet his next post discusses how important his 10 grand a year grocery bill should be to his supermarket.
This guy has TOOL written all over him. - flag564, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I wonder how quickly he will be assailed by the fanboys for having the nerve to spill Apple's secrets to the masses. While he would be a hero if he worked at MS, he is now Apple eenemy #1.
- ahknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That would be where http://ungeni.us and http://afterapple.com come in. You know, folks that can actually spell and aren't worried about getting fired because, well, they're gone.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3lol, is he in retail, or corporate?
- Slipknotic, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Notice how is page is predominantly white.
A true apple employee.- zybch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well Digg.com is predominantly white too, and its not an Apple subsidiary.
Oh, wait...

- opeth247, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Kinda sad that he would have to resort to hiding his identity for fear of losing his job.
Welcome to the 21st century. - signal15, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3So, apple needs to analyze his writings with a markov word chain algoritm, and fingerprint that info against their company email database. It wouldn't take much to write something to do it, and it should identify him with almost 100% certainty.
- santiago1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2 YA, well, if he starts carving a big "A" in everything with a rapier, then I'm outta here!
...unless bonita Catherine Zeta happens to be involved here somehow.....or Salma... - theBrink, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Too true, I remember my parents purchased an ipod my sister some time ago, when a couple months later the disk in the unit failed, they took the unit back (which was covered by replacement policy) and were told by 3 apple employees that they would not replace the unit because there was a dent in the back from user abuse and they would not replace the unit. The dent was nigh impossible to see, in fact you could probably argue it had been there all along.
I've read numerous other cases with cinema displays (blinking LED, failing backlights) where apple stiffed their customers. It's one reason I'll never purchase an apple product, if I buy a cheap ass dell and it breaks, it's too bad, if I buy an apple for 5x the cost, I'm expecting some quality and more importantly - to stand by their product.- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@ the brink,
When my 4g ipod's hard drive failed, i went to the apple store to replace it. when apple emplyees saw it, it had a dent in the back, scratches and chips all over the front, and a some clay lodged into the usb port.
they replaced it anyways. - colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It really depends on the store. Like any retail store, certain Apple Stores can be pains to work with. You should try a second Apple store, or even better, call Apple up and ship it to them and bypass the stores completely.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@ the brink,
- Unsanity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I don't understand why people want to find out who he is so badly, let the poor guy keep his job!
- Gerolsteiner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This sounds like he's working at a higher up level in Apple Retail, although there are a lot of good people working at even the Mac Specialist level who would be able to write a commentary with that level of insight.
Frankly, when it comes to Apple Retail, it really doesn't matter who you are, you aren't informed of upcoming products or trade secrets, so all the folks pining to know his identity are barking up the wrong tree. - joe90210, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Apple is the Bush Administration of the Tech world, no tranparency from top to bottom, everything is secretive, hidden and disloyalty is dealt with harshly
- chucker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You mean...

- himay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2For pete's sake, has no one noticed that this guy can't write for *****? It's clear his thoughts make sense to *him,* but did some ***** get Dugg just because he has a job for a company that people like/hate?
He might take some of his own advice and design *his* product (his blog) around his audience (us poor saps who had the misfortune of happening upon his incoherent musings). Design matters, but so does the ability to put a coherent essay together.
To some of us, anyway. - xshaisu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Steve?

After you've gotten acquainted with him, I'll introduce you one of his friends, the comma.

- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cool.
- r©ain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am highly taken aback that they would challenge their readers to "slueth" out the identity of someone who may lose their job for merely posting an opinion online.
And for what? Another link on Digg? And what price does the "masked employee" face in that event?
Below is the comment I left on that site:
------------------------------------------------------------
Someone takes a substantial risk of losing their employment in order to answer a question posted online and your response to this is to thank them by immediately rallying people to "slueth" them out in order to unmask this person?
This is clearly no mistake.
You opened your post wth the following statement:
"The Masked Blogger is an Apple employee who has decided to 'join the conversation,' while trying not to have the conversation turn to the inevitable topic of his employment being terminated by Apple"
Well, it seems you are quite actively trying to get this person fired, or you are just so f-ing arrogant and egotistical that you only care about the notoriety you feel you'll get for yourself if you or a reader in response to your "sluething" challenge "unmasks" the Apple employee in question.
And what then?
Is this person potentially losing their job worth your utterly forgetable 2 seconds of fame on Digg et al?
Personally, after reading your post, I'm pointing www.tuaw.com and tuaw.com to 127.0.0.1 in my hosts list. I am completely sickened and could care less if it's due to your ego or sheer stupidity. In either case, you are an online voice who I think we would alll be better without. Did you ever think that maybe this person has dependants? That others may sufffer besides the prey you wish to stalk. Yes, stalk, and you are inciting other to stalk as well. And you stalk with no regard to the effects your actions may have on the livelyhood and welfare of your online prey.
I only wish that in the event of your success and the subsequent loss of employment by your prey, that this person may some how drag your ass into court for your actions on this site against them. Unfortunately, I doubt any such thing will happen and your online prey will be left only on some form of state subsidy while trying to find a job elsewhere.
No matter the outcome, reading your post has left me angered and disgusted by your sociopathic nature and complete disregard for the well being of others.

I've pointed their domain name to my localhost. I recommend others to do the same that would rather not suppoort that site by ad traffic. - timshead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Has anyone else noticed that the blog is run by das Blog, a blog engine that only runs on Windows?
Gotta love the poetic irony!- condensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Windows runs on Apple's
