- rimantas, on 07/11/2008, -1/+50I have lost any hope that someday people will stop judging the quality of the camera by megapixel count :(
If you have crappy lens or exposure system, or image processor doubling your mpx will not help in any way… - tinoproductions, on 07/11/2008, -2/+40United Kingdom is all of the island, plus nothern ireland.
Britain is the Island, made up of the parts: England, Wales and Sctoland. like states in america. - Mudcrutch, on 07/11/2008, -3/+25She looks like your typical Apple hipster.
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -2/+20You know what's funny? All of the people that waited in line this morning for their new iPhone can't even use it apparently.
- arcticblue, on 07/11/2008, -2/+20Thank you. That cleared everything up for me.
- billymonster, on 07/11/2008, -0/+14i would love to actually be able to use mine. i am phoneless right now thanks to the servers.
- Daniel591992, on 07/11/2008, -0/+13Nope. Runs on OS X.
- WhoDoneIt, on 07/11/2008, -1/+12He's commenting on the journalists words stating that she wishes it had more megapixels because the first gen iPhone had 2mp. She didn't understand why this didn't have more as a next-gen device. She also clearly thought that more megapixels meant better camera.
Rimantas is correct. Most people think that MP means better photos. But that isn't the case. If you stuck a Zeiss lens and the innards of a decent point and shoot camera in the iPhone, you could have a great looking photo at 2mp.
But it does sound like Apple screwed the dog on the camera part of the iPhone this time around. - JacobParker, on 07/11/2008, -2/+13Wow, even I didn't know that, and I'm British.
- punkcat, on 07/11/2008, -0/+10its like she is so proud of what she is listening to she has to let everyone know.

Dude, she's field testing the iPhone for three weeks because she's a journalist and you call her a "dumb bitch" for using the GPS feature?
You are a moron of monumental proportions. - aristotle0dude, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down. If you don't calm down, I'm going to have to taze you.
- whaught, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8Now they need to let you tether it to your laptop as a cell-modem. The fact that att expects you to buy a second data plan and laptop card to do this is such a scam. I guess that's what jailbreak is for.
- Remmiz, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8I wish the iPhone had a Fleshlite.
- TheBigBad, on 07/11/2008, -1/+9If by affordable you actually mean more expensive. They raised the price on the data plan by $10. They now charge extra for text messages that were included before. All said and done at the end of your contract, the new iphone will have cost you more than the old one. Of course the amount you have to shell out when you go to pick it up is less, but they get you in the long run.
- inotocracy, on 07/11/2008, -1/+9"It's going to turn the iPhone into a little computer - and give the likes of Nintendo a run for their money"
I'm sorry, but this isn't going to compete with Nintendo at all. - dbhalla, on 07/11/2008, -0/+8I didnt even know that, and i am englandish.
- punkcat, on 07/11/2008, -0/+6its like you hate GPS. you need to calm down a bit, get away from the computer for awhile.
- cawpin, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5I think he meant that it's odd that she has all those clothes on.
- HappyScrappy, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5That's a lousy review.
- endlessoul, on 07/11/2008, -2/+7With the exception, of course, of the bill that AT&T locks you into. The rates for data and voice aren't cheap.
- WhoDoneIt, on 07/11/2008, -2/+7You mean that slightly egotistical, wanna-be that wears graphic tees and their play list solely contains Radiohead that you can hear while they are driving their VW golf?
- PabloMac, on 07/11/2008, -1/+6You posted about it here.
- superkendall, on 07/11/2008, -0/+5On what device? No device sold today has Flash that would render that video watchable, only jerky half-video.
- DailyWail, on 07/11/2008, -4/+8Why are you so angry?
- TheBigBad, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4I bought a Blackberry about a month ago...and just sent it back. Possibly the only phone that is as overhyped as the iphone. Whoever designed the user interface for Blackberry was a complete idiot.
- superkendall, on 07/11/2008, -1/+5Show us a concert photo from any cell phone camera that does not suck. Low light equals death for small cell phone cameras, even 4 or 5mp cameras.
- FoxOrian, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4WIth the major increase in digital SLR cameras I've been seeing people with around, I'm hoping that a lot of people ARE learning that MP's arent everything.
- Meccabilly, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I spat my imaginary coffee, laughing.
- megamod, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Whatever the case is it still sucks that they have the cool as hell geo tagging feature but a crappy camera to use it with.
- PolkStreet, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3There are four lights!
- Snuff99, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4Have to admit you dropped knowledge on me too. thx dude.
- leetninja, on 07/11/2008, -1/+4indeed ... this gal should be dancing around for dollars instead of reporting on the iPhone ...
- ninjadave, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Wrong. Hipsters are too cool for Radiohead. Try Brian Jonestown Massacre or the Velvet Underground.
Radiohead is WAY too mainstream. - fahrvergnuugen, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Keep trying. It took me about a dozen tries of clicking between the library and the iPhone icon in iTunes and and it finally connected.
- superkendall, on 07/11/2008, -2/+51) I agree the camera is not that great. On a positive note it does geotag photos though, and the images are not terrible - just not as good as a "real" camera. They are usable though.
2) Flash sucks on every other mobile device so why even include it? If you look at reports from other phones you find tales of herky jerky videos. Way better to convince people to use DHTML for stuff that should have been done that way anyway. Lots of people actually install flash blockers today for browsers, so it's kind of silly to see people demand flash in the browser.
3) The price is not at all vast compared to other smart phones. In the U.S. the data plan is the same price as any other smartphone, elsewhere it may be similar if you check. - superkendall, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Supposedly the plastic back does help, and it makes a lot of sense that if you take off a metal back the reception would improve.
- thesledman, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2ZING!
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3What's stopping the same developers from putting the apps on the app store for free? Why clutter up the process by allowing multiple sites/services to offer apps?
It's people like you who want it all, right now.. then when you finally get it you bitch about the price. - highPhone, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3the Telegraph prints news?
- HolyChimp, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Exactly what smartphone features does the iPhone lack? Off the top of my head I can think of Copy/Paste and bluettooth tethering. Both of which are old complaints and bring nothing to the discussion. It'd be nice if it did have them, but there's plenty of features the iPhone has that smartphones lack to make up for it.
- pauliusuza, on 07/11/2008, -2/+4a hundred like you and the server goes down
- inactive, on 07/11/2008, -2/+4She mentions how with a quick refresh she could keep score of the Nadal Federer match. What she didn't mention was that, had the iPhone had flash support, she could have watched the whole match online from the BBC website.
- fLUx1337, on 07/11/2008, -2/+4Just like to clear something up - Britain isn't the island at all, its the bigger bit of the UK to the east of the smaller part, Ireland.
And England, Wales and Scotland are not like US states, they are 3 different countries. Although laws are very similar, and I think traveling between each is classed as domestic. - fijidaddy, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2my favorite line of the article...
But the iPhone is a performer, a showman, ready to 'turn a trick' at the touch of a button.
