- JaCobyShaddix, on 03/29/2009, -4/+32iPhones are cool but they got to lower the monthly price, $30 a month for unlimited data/messages and I'll sign a 5 year contract.
- soze1, on 03/29/2009, -9/+23Lower the ridiculous monthly fees and data plans and i might consider getting one.
- thirty6chambers, on 03/29/2009, -0/+11what the hell is wrong with you?
- jobobshishkabob, on 03/29/2009, -0/+9Of course there will be a similar app available on WinMo, it's been out far longer. That's besides the point though... even if it does have a similar app, WinMo is not enjoyable to use. I owned one for a year and a half, and I have to say my experience with the iPhone is much better.
Useful apps you say... Youtube (When I had my old phone at least, the only alternative was m.youtube.com, which sucked), Pandora and Last.fm, Shazam, Mint, just to name a couple. iPod > Windows Media Player any day. And of course, the App Store itself is quite useful...
Even if there are alternatives on WinMo, the iPhone version is bound to be better only because the OS is better. It's more enjoyable to use. - DarkoKun, on 03/29/2009, -1/+9LMAO @ windows mobile
- jpop, on 03/29/2009, -0/+8Are there any other competitors with a smartphone that has that kind of pricing for those criteria?
- DanMiller, on 03/29/2009, -0/+7Please explain how the monthly fees and data plans are any more expensive than any other AT&T phone. Data is competitively priced across carriers and the minute plans are competitive as well. There are no fees associated with the iphone plan that don't exist with any other plan.
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -1/+7Winmobile sucks ass and linux is only avail on one device on a 4th rate network.
- dougbarrett, on 03/29/2009, -0/+6Multi-tasking was always a reason that I didn't want to get an iPhone, until I was able to get an iPhone for free. Now I'm glad the iPhone doesn't have multi-tasking because i couldn't see the battery life lasting more than 5 hours if someone had 2 or three apps open on their phone.
I'm sure if the Pre is able to pull off multi-tasking and still have great battery life then Apple will follow suit. - mpn401, on 03/29/2009, -0/+5Pre runs Javascript applications and nothing else. Yuck.
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -0/+5I don't own an iphone, but saying there are alternatives is an argument?
- badqat, on 03/28/2009, -0/+5Pre is stuck on Sprint, at least at the start. No thanks.
However, give me an unlocked GSM version, and I'd have one, instantly. - tzon, on 03/29/2009, -0/+5I'm in!
- willhaynes, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Except the commitment.
If I'm not mistaken you can cancel data & messaging at any time on other phones. - Archer007, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4Leave. Begone. Go back to 4chan.
That is all. - DanMiller, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4no
- Thex1138, on 03/29/2009, -1/+5iPhone 3.0 in production... just over 800,000 built per week in Taiwan.. :-)
- johnstar, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3I use a 2g Iphone on Tmobile with 5$ tzones hack for unlimited edge beat that At&t.
- Frozo, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3Sheer stupidity.
- killmickey, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2That's how much I paid for unlimited data with my smartphone with AT&T. Not the messaging but I know the iPhone was more. Still gonna get one when I get home from this latest tour.
- migitalwarfare, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2if thats what you're after, then why bother getting a smart phone in the first place? if all you want is voice and texting, you're shopping in the wrong area
- EMGroup, on 03/29/2009, -1/+3do i have iphone 3.0?
- orthodoxDrew, on 03/29/2009, -1/+3i like to talk on the phone
- migitalwarfare, on 03/30/2009, -0/+1your network blows ass. t-mobile just got beat
- amk29j, on 03/30/2009, -0/+1They get a ***** ton of money from the iPhone buyers and have to build up their networks to compensate... in the end they only make a marginal amount of money (yeah right).
- NUMBER4940, on 03/29/2009, -2/+3i don't know what kind of phone it would take for me to feel justified in spending $100/mo to use it. guess i'm just poor or too hard to please.
- dougbarrett, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Yes there is active internet connections constantly, plus the flashy graphics don't help either.
- fr0mundacheese, on 03/29/2009, -2/+3Dont be such a hater
- electricsurf, on 03/29/2009, -2/+3Eh
- dirtyhipster, on 03/29/2009, -4/+5By making unlimited data cap out at 1 gig, raising data prices, and by throttling high data users.
- utnow, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1It's not.
This is just a basic coping mechanism of someone who wants it and doesn't have it. If the price was cheaper, they'd complain about copy/paste... when that's no longer an issue (soon) they'll complain about lack of some other novelty feature they'll never use. When that's there.... something else.
It's not about the phone actually lacking anything. It's about him trying to make himself feel better about not owning one. - KibibyteBrain, on 03/29/2009, -1/+2They wont even really have to. There are benefits to being a monopoly. Already AT&T iPhone customers complain about a level of service they would not put up with if it wasn't for the exclusiveness deal.
- DanMiller, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1@willhaynes
I'm not to sure about specific carriers or phones. With my old Blackberry I had to commit to carrying 1 year of T-Mobile's "Blackberry Data" plan. In return I got my phone for free. Most smart phones advertised in flyers I've seen have some data or texting commitment attached. At the end of the day I would have to agree with migitalwarfare. Why buy a smart phone if you don't want to pay for data? You may as well just buy a cheap flip phone and pick up an mp3 player. - Thex1138, on 03/31/2009, -0/+14150+ per hour....
- jpop, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Is this for a brand new plan/phone, or a grandfathered plan? I've got a smidgeon off on my iPhone plan because I carried over a grandfathered plan. My understanding is that the costs now for new plans are roughly the same across the misc companies, and that you don't see $30/month for unlimited data/messages...
- DanMiller, on 03/29/2009, -1/+2I'm not going to argue that some customers may experience poor service, however, I have had good service and experienced problems no more than I have with any other carrier. Again, I recognize that it is different in certain areas but I have no complaints.

- youareretarded, on 03/29/2009, -2/+2Buried as inacurrate.
Att has not changed their policy. The article makes it seem like reps can make the call, the fact is that they can only submit a case for the customer and if they have a good reason for the early upgrade. - burgandy28, on 03/30/2009, -0/+0Friend 12 months into contract was not given this offer.
- ohreilly, on 03/29/2009, -0/+0My N95 manages to multitask and stay on for ages.
It's the wifi/bluetooth/active HSDPA (does the iPhone do that?) that kills it. - waleedo, on 03/29/2009, -4/+3I can't come to terms with buying an iPhone...love my Curve
- ohreilly, on 03/29/2009, -1/+0GSM? pfft.
UMTS/HSDPA baby. - ohreilly, on 03/29/2009, -2/+0linux?
Who the hell uses linux as an OS on their phone? (apart from the 5 people who own G1s)
S60 ftw. - PterionFracture, on 03/29/2009, -7/+4How do you like them apples?
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -5/+2..i see a 6 hour wait in line outside of the Apple store in my future! LOL! This time, I am bringing my DS wiffme! ;-p
- fr0mundacheese, on 03/29/2009, -8/+4You cant put a price on owning (renting) the GodPod
- fucter, on 03/29/2009, -10/+5name 1 useful iphone app, that does not have a similar app available for linux and/or windows mobile
yeah, thats what i thought
(ifart does not count as useful btw) - fathermarlow, on 03/27/2009, -11/+6I want to know how AT&T is going to be handling all the data flying through their networks once every person in the world owns an iPhone.
- talon223, on 03/29/2009, -6/+1The monthly fees are ridiculous, but with lower prices, I hope they've been using the profit from fees to upgrade their networks. If they haven't been working on them then, wow, can't wait to see how slow AT&T's networks get.
