AT&T exec#1: "So, we're getting reports that people aren't too happy getting 300 pages worth of a phone bill... any ideas?"
AT&T exec#2: "How about we double the font size, bold that *****, and crank it up to 600 pages? Sounds like instant profit if you'd ask me."
AT&T exec#1: "No, no. They aren't happy because they think its way too big, too many pages... and environmentalists are pissed off---"
AT&T exec#2: "What? They aren't happy? ***** that, I don't know what to say to that. I'll be right back i''m pissed off.. I'm gonna go smoke... ***** customers."
AT&T exec#1: ....Bill, what do you think we should do?
AT&T exec#3: I like turtles. - CyberSally, on 10/10/2007, -2/+121But I enjoyed knowing that I transfered 1.2kb worth of data on Saturday August 18th at 12:41pm.

It's beyond me that it took a PR nightmare like this to make them to realize sending out bills this long was a bad idea. I'm quite the cynic, but even this level of stupidity caught me off guard. - tacotruck08, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29I hate people that talk. like. this. dammit.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -8/+31Porn thumbnail?
- DiggzDE, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23If they had wanted to save money, wouldn't they have just not done it in the first place?
- andrewcsayer, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26400 page bills instead
- lukee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Well, Apple makes this crazy gadget called iPhone, which just happens to be mentioned in the title. Perhaps that might just have something to do with it?
- MonkeyFit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18South Park and the underpants gnomes.
- strangewill, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Most companies seem to be more trial and error than analysis of procedures.
- Zer0kill, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Knowing AT&T they will make it an option that will cost you $1.99 not to get itemized billing.
- andrew522, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16took them this long? oh wait, its AT&T.
It must have taken them a while to buffer that video with the 300pg bill, but that isn't uncommon, now is it. - timusca, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10How many times must it be said? This isn't for iPhone users only! Its for ALL Cingular customers... I have a Blackberry Pearl and get the same crap.
- oderdigg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12NEWS FLASH: They should have NEVER sent a 300 page bill. Only stupid people would want 300 pages of a bill. We hardly read books anymore, why read a 300 page bill? Not to mention the huge waste of paper...
- abhiroop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Where did the 3 step profit joke originate from?
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12When google admits a mistake, they're forgiven and hailed as being smart for realizing it. When AT&T does so, they're automatically the bad guy?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Its the same with every other ***** company except apple and google!
- BentCorner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I wouldn't blame AT&T. They outsource the printing of their statements. I used to work for the company that prints statements for AT&T and Verizon. Since they are paid per sheet of paper imaged, it behooves them to make the documents as lengthly as possible. Verizon put a stop to it a few years ago. Before they did, many of the Verizon jobs were sent to the customer in boxes. Verizon changed the policy to only print two pages, front and back and if the customer wanted the rest of the statement, they could either see it online or pay more to get every page.
- litmus101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Listen AT&T was screwed either way if they gave a 300 page report to show kb usage they got yelled at if they didn't give the report then people who got a bill that said they had some 200 thousand kb usage then the same people complaining would want the detail. SO they are both F^^&*d. I love my iphone if you don't want a PAPER bill then use PAPERLESS billing I didn't even wait for my bill I signed up the minute I got the Phone fo rthe paperless bill.
- lore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+430 to 35 THOUSAND text messages a month? And she found time to participate on an interview?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4None of you guys know what you're talking about. First of all, California law stipulates that you have to give a cell phone customer an itemized bill. AT&T has just been complying with the law. What, you really think they were just doing this for fun? Furthermore, AT&T gives options for customers to get e-bills instead of paper bills. These morons complaining about their bills are to blame, not AT&T.
- Frosty122, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4fail
- MateyO, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You've obviously never spent time with AT&T and Apple's Customer support systems.
- dimplemonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3All this common sense is hurting my head!
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Damnit! NOW how will I have enough fuel for the fireplace this winter?
- TitoBob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Chocolate Rain....
All they do is bitch, moan and complain...
Chocolate Rain....
300 pages made them go insane...
Chocolate Rain.... ** I move away from my computer to breathe - WalesAlex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Who actually reads news that isn't under the apple section anymore? And Apple just happen to make the iPhone.
- GliTCH82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. If they by default were to send you a 1 page bill, customers would call and complain that they don't see where all their money is going. So they opted to give you more information than you might need, so you wouldn't bitch, and guess what happened, customers started complaining that now they have too much information. People are really hard to please, don't you know. Meanwhile , they've already had the option for you to switch to paperless billing, but do you think average customers are smart enough to find that on their own? Of course not. So when corporations treat you like a retard on the phone, don't get offended. It's because, most of the time, people are retarded.
- TechCF, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I think the hot babe played a big part in drawing attention to this!
- newrailroad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Sorry, that's Verizon Wireless - not AT&T.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6This isn't news to anyone who has an iPhone. They sent a text message to everyone who has one, explaining the issue.
- hightower77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ug...Maybe if I bitch, I won't get a bill for my BlackBerry like that too. Damn RIM for making at&ts bills so long. Buried as innacurate due to the title, isn't the damn iPhones fault.
- shawnz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2because paperless billing completely justifies 300 page bills?
- LethalAmbition, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Thank God AT&T cares about the environment. I think I'll make the switch.
- webster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I seriously don't get why this is an issue. Cingular/AT&T has been issuing itemized statements for years. Before I got my iPhone, I had my Windows-based phone checking my e-mail every 15 minutes on an unlimited GPRS plan, and that data was itemized as well. Sure, the paper bills are long -- but who is dumb enough to get a paper bill? Not only is it a security risk having every number you've texted and called sitting in a mailbox somewhere, but it's a waste of paper and nobody's going to read it. Their website is great and sufficient, and it's just hilarious that this only becomes an issue after everyone and their mother buys an iPhone. But hey, I applaud AT&T for reducing paper for those who don't think about it.
- pyrates, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Maybe if they didn't keep track of every kilobyte you download and upload, their data plans could be cheaper. But then they couldn't charge by the kilobyte then. Decisions decisions.
- techmonkey4u, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"AT&T exec#3: I like turtles."
omg my coworkers are asking why I'm crying with laughter. - martalli, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is your boss - get back to work
- RoflMyWaffle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The environment thanks you AT&T
- DesuKN, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2What do you have against Shatner?
- rfunches, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They should've done what Sprint did to all customers a few months ago - remove all of the detailed billing by default and tell you to go online or call if you want to switch back to detailed billing or change to paperless billing. My 10-page bill went to four pages (although they made it very Fisher-Price looking, though) and I can still get details online.
- fixedcoma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1About damn time i start seeing only one article on the iphone a week on digg! before it was rediculous every f$%^ing article "Iphone iphone iphoneblah, blah , blah! Someone will come out with something that beats it anyway so wooooaahhhhh!
- miztaken, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Simply put, it's AT&T. Does anything they do surprise you?
- sancho320, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They just had the old billing system in place, one thing they hadn't changed. This is why Apple chose to go with an exclusive carrier, so that they could simplify their trial and error processes.
- LethalAmbition, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I hope you recycle.
