- NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Blaming either Clinton or Bush for 9/11 is rather asinine. How about blaming the crazy head-choppers who actually committed the crime?
-jcr - IcarusAscending, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm not sure I understand the question, "Where was the outrage when Michael Moore put out his tripe?" There were feature stories on all the cable news channels (and two of the three networks) questioning the doc's accuracy; there were major articles in all the newsweeklies doing the same; as I recall, John McCain used a keynote address to the Republican National Convention to insult the movie. There was a lot--a LOT--of outrage, much of it rather hysterical, imho, and most it largely unfounded.
It's worth noting that a great deal of the Farenheit "outrage" came not just from the right, but from pillars of the MSM; I get the impression that the left just wants similar scrutiny to be applied to the ABC piece. That certainly seems fair.
"You didn't have all this hate from Republicans when Clinton was in office." Well--I mean, Republicans *did* spent most of their time trying to impeach Clinton, which, if nothing else, is a funny way to say "I love you." They lied, they leaked, they dug around, then lied and leaked some more. If you're talking about the rank and file--maybe it depends where you live. In my old hometown, the word "Hillary" alone is enough to transform otherwise doughy, pasty Baptists into fearsome, winged Hell Beasts. It's a sight to behold. - NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Sharply biased"?
So, have you actually seen this show yet, or are you just taking the Kossak's word for it?
-jcr - hawkeye17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2History has an odd way of allowing the truth to surface. Bush has been such a disaster that no matter how much propaganda ABC, Fox or whoever puts out, it won't shield Bush for the Historians or the Truth. He's quite possibly the worst US President in our history and no money/ratings grab by ABC will change that.
- NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Has it occured to you that Mr. Clark, being one of the people who comes off looking like a complete prat in this show, might have a less than objective viewpoint?
-jcr - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4"Now ABC is trying to present those students — and scores of people around the world — with its slanted and inaccurate version of history, which blames President Clinton for 9/11 while whitewashing the failures of the Bush administration."
So Bush gets blamed for 9/11 after serving less than 8 months as President? I can see how Clinton may be blamed, but it's really not his fault; he didn't want to start a war. Bush really hadn't done much as President until 9/11 struck. This article is clearly focused on bashing Bush instead of simply looking at the broader picture. - schreibe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The Republicans were after Clinton from the beginning of his presidency. Most of the people who are so angry at the current administration remember well the Ken Starr detailed reporting that was plastered all over the Internet for the little kiddies to see. Most people remember the Florida debacle of an election in which Bush got selected as President of the United States by a whopping 500 or so votes. Most people remember all of Bushes moves for the past 6 years as a divider, not a uniter. Most people are just plain pissed! Bush and his brain Rove are currently pushing real hard to provoke fear again......its all they got left! This so called documentary is just another move to use 9/11 as a political tool to keep the power. This is just the beginning of an all out effort to do the same thing they did in 2002, and 2004......here we go again! I just hope the Democrats fight back hard.
- DevlinduGEnie2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1NSResponder --- No, I'm taking Richard Clarke's word for it. He was, you know, THERE when it happened. He says the ABC series is bulltish.
- mkajr74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Two things.
1.) I find it interesting that the Dems don't blame Daddy Bush for the first WTC attack even though it happened on Clinton's watch, just a few months into his tenure. But the Neos don't have any problem doing exactly that when it comes to Dubbya and Clinton.
2.) I think you need to read Ron Suskind's book "The One Percent Doctrine." One of the most interesting items is what Bush told the CIA briefer when he read the infamous PDB about bin Laden determined to attack U.S. "All right. You've covered your ass, now." That quote in itself is evidence of the ignorance the Bush Administration had when it came to leading this country in the right direction. - schreibe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think you got it right hawkeye...."the worst US President in our history". I have not always been active in the political world, but I intend to be very active in the next months and years. My main motive for activism will be to help get my country back on track, and away from this insane one party rule. This country is based on "checks and balances"....not one party rule. One party rule is usually called a dictatorship. Sometimes called totalitarianism..... Sometimes called Big Brother. At other times called "*****". Let's get back on track. We are a great nation, and we got to start acting like one.

Wow. And not even a *good* troll at that. - pitviper, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The problem isn't that the film has a conservative slant. The problem is that ABC is representing “The Path to 9/11″ as an unbiased historical drama (something Michael Moore never does). Promos for the movie say it is “based on the 9/11 Commission Report.” The writer Cyrus Nowrasteh claims he “wanted to match the just-the-facts tone of the report,” and describes the project as “an objective telling of the events of 9/11.”
Here’s some of the objectivity you can expect: Nowrasteh says the film shows how Clinton had “frequent opportunities…in the 90s to stop Bin Laden in his tracks — but lacked the will to do so.” He has referenced Clinton’s “lack of response” to Al Qaeda “and how this emboldened Bin Laden to keep attacking American interests.” A review today in Salon.com says the film paints Clinton “as a buffoon more interested in blow jobs than terrorists.”

Oh, wait, that was far-left, MoveOn.org, anything related to Conservatism or Republican truth. You didn't have all this hate from Republicans when Clinton was in office. You didn't have "anything but what is going on now" attitude. You didn't have everyone int he White House is evil. Strange how the Liberals tout themselves as for the people when they sure seem to be against everything to include their own vice-presidential candidate. What a shame. They were such a great party at one time.
