- DivisibleByZero, on 03/03/2009, -3/+42How about "change the ringtone when I get an email or SMS"? Everybody in my office has an iPhone so you can never tell who's getting pinged. (I know, you can "change" the SMS one, but only within a handful of preprogrammed crap. Let me add my own like I can with the phone.
How about "let me turn off that stupid landscape mode when playing music." Why would you take a device/app that is intended for listening to music, then design a UI for it that only works with two hands and eyes on the screen. I listen to my ipod while I drive, leave it laying in my lap. I'd like to just be able to reach around and press the "skip" or "pause" button, but I can't because half the time it goes into worthless landscape mode. - troyallen069, on 03/03/2009, -2/+29Yeah, and when Apple does add these things, people will complain about the price
- o5rob5o, on 03/03/2009, -8/+3175% less front page articles on wish list features for version after it.
- dalythu, on 03/03/2009, -2/+24All I want is more RAM, a faster processor and damn it....a HORIZONTAL KEYBOARD FOR TEXTING!
- wavesmachine, on 03/03/2009, -5/+23In addition to that list I'm looking for:
- a higher quality camera with flash
- a camera in front for video conferencing
- two speakers instead of one
- more HD space. 16 GB is just not cutting it.
I also think I'd prefer more battery capacity to a removable battery. - BrendanSheehan, on 03/03/2009, -4/+20The most important feature of all he missed; a damn decent camera. 4MP good quality sensor with a Xenon flash + Auto-focus. Thats the main hardware feature they need to add. I'd also like an OLED display, but that's dreaming.
- tehnico, on 03/03/2009, -11/+26FLASH
- camel2021, on 03/03/2009, -0/+13I thought you might mean a Flash for the camera.
You Jerk. - rrife, on 03/03/2009, -0/+11Apple doesn't care.
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -13/+22>>1. Turn-by-turn GPS
Might happen.
>>2. Larger capacity / removable battery:
Never going to happen. Batteries must be replaced by Apple and all data MUST go through iTunes.
>>3. Cut & Paste
If you dont get it in the next release, it will never happen. It seems like such an easy thing to implement, yet only available on modded iPhones.
>>4. Bluetooth data file transfer
Never going to happen. All data must go through iTunes.
>>5. Multitasking / Background Notification:
Might happen. Honestly, I thought this was already a feature in the first iPhone.
>>6. Voice Recognition:
Might happen, but will be buggy due to common problems like background chatter throwing off voice commands (using it in a subway for example). It would be cool for things like "Copy" & "Paste". But for the most part, it doesn't seem like a truely useful feature, so it might get added in order to pad the list of new features.
>>7. Bluetooth A2DP
Might happen. However the headphone jack will be the used most of the time for music. Those bluetooth headphones are pricey. - tehnico, on 03/03/2009, -1/+10I deserved that.
- greatmunizzle, on 03/03/2009, -0/+8Unfortunately the iPhone is still on my wishlist
- NyteStarNyne, on 03/03/2009, -5/+13AKA "7 Must-Have Additions for Next iPhone that won't happen"
- ronnyek, on 03/03/2009, -0/+6I've remained hopefull, I'm an apple fan, but wouldnt go so far as to say I am a fanboy, I dont consider apple infallible by any means. I think apples lack of attention to the iphone and iphone software really makes this my last iphone, unless they really do something huge.
Iphone software is flashy and stable, but its simply no where near the other offerings as far as what you can do. Android is full of flaws, but at least lets users decide what they think they should be able to do with the phone. Webos so far is not here, and not proven... but apple has just up and left their users high and dry.
Apple you dont care about sms sideways keyboard, or mms, or video camera etc, but that doesnt mean your customers dont. And where is the fuggin tethering pretty much any other smartphone HAS been doing for such a long time.
I want apple to release new software, new features, new hardware even... but I gotta say I am not holding my breath, I think it'll continue to be apples way... trickle out new features, and new hardware and tout them as the latest and the greatest that everyone should be creaming themselves over. - inactive, on 03/03/2009, -2/+8You know, i've always thought the iphone was missing an error establishing database connection
- JoeBaynham, on 03/03/2009, -0/+6And if the iPhone could teach people how to spell "zoom" correctly. That would be just great :)
- Chewie67, on 03/03/2009, -0/+6Let's be honest, Cut and Paste has become a joke.
This is a minor tweak to the iPhone OS that should take less than a week for one programmer to develop, test and merge into the base code.
QUIT BEING SO DAMNED STUBBORN APPLE. The iPhone DOES need Copy and Paste. JUST DO IT. - SeaICIubber, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5Ahhh haaaaah, saviour of the universe!
- Escmymind, on 03/03/2009, -2/+7You mean more flash memory, but otherwise, I totally agree.
Also, video and MMS >__< - iDiggYa, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5Why would you need an iPhone wishlist? I thought there would already be "an app for that."
- fugazied, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5"Never going to happen. All data must go through iTunes. "
There's an app called air sharing (or similar) I can use my ipod touch like a wireless file server, you just drop files onto it? That data isn't going through iTunes, but I guess you can't play mp3 loaded that way.. - freakstyle571, on 03/03/2009, -2/+7Are you kidding?! Its Apple! Selling overpriced merchandise is what they do best.
- Odaecom, on 03/03/2009, -5/+9How about a simple dimly-lit clock on the display so I don't have to wake-up the cranky-battery sucking iPos to tell the time?
And yeah getting the thing caught up to the late '90s with voice dialing would be great. - dagamer34, on 03/03/2009, -5/+9It's a PHONE, not a DSLR. I don't think you know how cameras work. The sensor means everything, and a "good quality sensor" requires the lens to be larger. You can't cheat with the physics of light.
- cRAYzed, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3I'm surprised there's no multimedia messaging.
- Philbert, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3The camera was the biggest disappointment to me when I got my iPhone, especially since I was coming from a Sony-Ericsson s710a that had a really awesome camera that recorded video, good quality pictures, and had a flash. Well not a flash, but a really bright LED light which is almost as good. It also had better options for shooting, like night mode and digital zoom (which is rarely great, but better than no zoom)
http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/59/59120/Sony_Er ... - darkslide29, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3MMS! Why can a phone I had 5 years ago do it, but this can't?? I don't want to have to click on a link and open safari to see an MMS.

- shananies, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3mirror?
- oxygn, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3I second that motion..... the horizontal keyboard is nice but pretty useless in safari... how about having it in email and texting, where a few more keystrokes are required... (a SIMPLE software upgrade too... really is mind boggling)
- joerod, on 03/03/2009, -2/+5how about video capability, and streaming video to youtube so i dont have to jailbreak my phone to use qik.
- chkdg8, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3'Error establishing a database connection'
Great. - likwidfuzion, on 03/03/2009, -2/+5#4 http://www.ibluetoothproject.com/
- FDDIcent, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3Anyone have a mirror or want to put the list in the comments? appears to be down.
- Kazakaz, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Dugg for reach around!
- mbraynard, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Apart from the Camera, you can get what you want with plenty of space on some of these devices that support high capacity tiny memory cards.
You can forget about stereo, though, because you are better off with a headphone jack. You're never going to get quality audio out of a speaker that small - whether there is one or two of them. - estate, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3If they just let you do what you wanted with the thing after you bought it - ie, ship it already "jailbroken" - most of these problems would go away.
- ramzavala, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2I agree, and typing in the stupid user and password is the worst part.
- Radan, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2As a photographer I would just love to be able to plug in an SD-card to directly view the images on the rather large and high resolution screen of the iPhone. Of course, since professional cameras use Compact Flash that would be preferable, but at least there are SD-card to Compact Flash adapters out there so I would be able to have one card to use for directly show for the customer or similar when I don't have my computer with me.
The camera, for obvious reasons, I couldn't really care less for. In fact, I rather have a thinner phone than a "good" camera. Of course, I wouldn't really complain if they made it a tad better, or at least improved the standard camera application (I can recommend the app called Darkroom which helps a lot when taking pictures). If anything they could at least add some kind of lens cover since the uncovered lens will take some beatings in a while.
Another thing I would really love to see on the iPhone (even though I was one of the few who managed to download Netshare before it was pulled) is some kind of first party tethering. It's beyond retarded that we Europeans without bandwidth limit are getting the short straw just because AT&T can't get their thumb out.
Some kind of low power (and low light!) nightstand clock mode would also be rather sweet.
Lastly, I wouldn't really mind if Apple could get their arses going and actually release Push support sometime within my lifetime so that all those chat clients out there could become somewhat useful for a change. - Frnnkdlxx, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3i don't know about you, but i work night shift, and i was on that thing for over 8 hours, and the battery was a little less than 25%. i'd say that's a damn good battery. but if we could interchange it and the gigabite capacity, then i'd be happy. my main issue is the video recording.
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Yes the alternative (for what I would use it for), is to manually download a funny pic, and attach it as an email (costing me 25 cents per MMS, which the iPhone doesnt support in the first place). Or I can just paste the URL of said funny pic, into an IM or Email and save a bit of hassle.
Its a small, but useful feature. However when MMS is enabled on the iPhone, it beneficial to ATT, to force you to attach a physical file in IM (25 cents per MMS) than to copy and paste a URL. - DivisibleByZero, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2No good place to put it. The cheap inline FM modulator that I use picks up interference whenever I go to edge if it's too close.
Plus I'd end up leaving it in the dock and walking away without it. - geodebug, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2hide icons? I just put my rarely-used apps on another page.
- shadownetwork, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2What about forwarding a text message.
- jsep, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2These lists are still happening?
- bemaniac, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2I just want a horizontal keyboard for SMS/Email. That's all I want. Come on, Apple!
- motivatedguy, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2The tethering isn't Apple's fault. It's a deal with AT&T. But a sideways keyboard for Mail and SMS would be nice.
- motivatedguy, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2I want notification of a missed call with a simple beep or something.
- inactive, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1Ability to search emails.
Faster processor. -
