- harvinator24, on 07/07/2009, -0/+78Who the hell uses limewire any more?
- supakoopa, on 07/09/2009, -0/+43Personally, I love my mp3s to have crappy qualities and viruses. Its a preference.
- suppazone, on 07/09/2009, -4/+46So they create a contest just to make fun of the entries? ***** I hate Gizmodo
- lothar250, on 07/09/2009, -0/+25These icons are horrible. My grandma would knit better ones.
- catachip, on 07/09/2009, -1/+19I don't think Apple will change the iTunes icon anytime soon. Just because it has a CD on it, doesn't mean it's irrelevant. CDs are intrinsically connected to music and you can instantly identify what it means. It's like the save icon in every program, it's a floppy disk. And yet, most young people will have never even used, or maybe even seen one. The idea and the image is still linked to the function.
- RyanXmetal, on 07/09/2009, -1/+16People who don't know what a torrent is.
- uzair21, on 07/08/2009, -1/+13"Dugged", is that a word?
- kreatre2007, on 07/09/2009, -3/+15Of course Apple would never dream of using those icons. They look like ass. I've always admired the level of detail Apple uses with there Mac OS X application icons. Each one is a 512 x 512 image with a very high level of detail.
- smartah, on 07/09/2009, -0/+10The winner's looked nice, but I don't think Apple would ever consider using album art in an icon... popular music moves too fast for the icon to last.
Unless the icon could show album artwork from your own library... then it'd be kinda awesome. - timusca, on 07/09/2009, -0/+10Apple would never use any of these because they all suck. Even the ones that aren't obvious jokes.
- lydiasky, on 07/07/2009, -5/+14Dugged for the strawhat pirate flag.
- massrox, on 07/09/2009, -1/+10It's quite ironic that most of the iTunes icon is made up of a CD, when iTunes itself has been a big player in the downfall in physical media.
- mrmiggidude, on 07/09/2009, -3/+12Transmission X iTunes
It's always worked for me! - rafacst, on 07/07/2009, -8/+15Dugg for the Apple Zune logo.
- jendangereddd, on 07/08/2009, -1/+7haha really, poop?
- LoneWolf01, on 07/09/2009, -2/+7I have really oversized icons in Windows 7, so if I download an program that has a small icon, I go out of my way to make a decent looking 256x256 icon.
- digitalpencil, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5i definitely concur with the re-write.. they can fix Win QT while they're at it.
- Elranzer, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5Me too. I thought I was just anal-retentive. Glad I'm not the only one.
That pirated copy of Photoshop sure comes in handy! - gdenne, on 07/09/2009, -3/+8If only MS got with the program and did the same. Some icons on Windows are still from 95.
- LoneWolf01, on 07/09/2009, -1/+5If my colleagues are correct, then yes, the word "Dugged" is in fact, a word.
- kreatre2007, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4True. Sometimes the developers skimp on their app icons. Some Mac developers do the same. I create custom icons for a lot of my own installed apps, and I do the same for some of the software developers that I know. I make them all 512 x 512.
- wwwluckyro, on 07/09/2009, -5/+9I for example. There are songs you can't find on torrents, especially singles from foreign artists.
If offered a better alternative, I'd switch anytime from that Java based piece of crap. - jelstro, on 07/09/2009, -0/+4Some of these were cool but if the complaint the sparked the contest was that an icon with a CD on it is outdated, why is the winner a collage of flavor of the week movie logos and album covers?
- timusca, on 07/09/2009, -1/+5I have never experiences any of those problems even once. And I don't know anyone else who has.
- kreatre2007, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5MS does not care about attention to detail. They care more about pushing their crappy OS onto as many people as possible.
- kitsua, on 07/08/2009, -2/+5For a serious go at a new corporate icon, the winner wasn't at all bad I thought.
I think iTunes could do with a complete UI overhaul, along with a complete re-write of the Windows version.
There's no excuse not to really, it's bloody huge now. - Davers, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3plus bonjour, apple mobile device services, "ipod helper" processes, etc.
- digitalpencil, on 07/09/2009, -0/+3^ i'd like to take credit but i robbed it off an article on digg, i forget which but the end effect's quite good as far as desktop themes go.
http://bayimg.com/pAclCaace - PhillyOC, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2It still serves a purpose. For example, my PC repair business would probably get about 30% less virus jobs if nobody used Limewire. Keep it up, people. Baby need s a new pair of shoes.
- oneoverzero, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2I use direct connect when i'm in college, but that's just because there's really good campus wide intranet.
- suntzusputnik, on 07/09/2009, -3/+5It is now!!
- Diggnabbit, on 07/09/2009, -1/+3Yeah! Where's my functional made up icon!
- h3lx, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2http://www.h3lx.net/farkimages/My_ass_itunes_icon. ...
Just for you. Because you're special. - MAMALAD3, on 07/09/2009, -5/+7piratebay logo =D
nice - Twoodge, on 07/09/2009, -3/+4It is now!
- pdTHOR, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I reply in hopes that digg will notify you of such; what do you use to accomplish this?
- CressCrowbits, on 07/09/2009, -3/+4It is now!
- Thorpe, on 07/09/2009, -2/+3Lame.
- Elranzer, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1A lot of times the obscure stuff I'm looking for isn't in torrents or LimeWire, and I just gotta wind up buying it from Amazon MP3 or iTunes.
- Ibox, on 07/09/2009, -3/+4it is now
- CressCrowbits, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1You could just an alternative like Mediamonkey to sync your iPod.
- aserer511, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1That's actually very cool
- Verdanic, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1She might have already.
http://blog.craftzine.com/KnittedGuitarPatt.jpg - Baryn, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1The winning entry is *****. They're all *****, for that matter. I can't believe no one could come up with a good icon, let alone an iTunes replacement.
- KawazoeMasahiro, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1My iTunes icon is replaced by the current track album artwork. It's pretty neat actualy.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1The best was the first cover-flow styled icon. The vast majority were amusing, nothing more.
- Twinnie, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1My housemate still uses DirectConnect. He'd know how to set up torrents if he tried to, he's just one of those who sticks to what he knows until he's forced to change (aka, a retard).
- TheWorm, on 07/09/2009, -1/+2To be fair many/most of those icons weren't meant to be serious.
- Elranzer, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1For the Windows version, yes really.
