mytechlists.com — Everyone is awaiting the September 12th "Showtime" event. There are rumors running all over the 'net about just what is going to be unveiled, with most speculating that the big product with either be the long awaited Video iPod, or a device similar to Apple's Airport Express, but with the addition of streaming video....

- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -14/+9If you think about it, most of the rumored Apple products are similar; they all deal with video. The Airport Express with video streaming, the iTunes Movie Store, and the new iPod.
It's Showtime allright; and tomorrow we will meet the Stars.- muaddib420, on 10/12/2007, -18/+9i think you're right on all 3 counts... the movie store, 4inch 16:9 60gig "vi"pod and vid streaming airport.
wow, can't wait til tomorrow. digg is going to be all apple, all day. apple haters might want to take vacation from digg for a while. - MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Will do
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -11/+9Notice: For those of you who hate to see Apple articles, or would rather not see all the Apple articles tomorrow (and most likely have a very quiet Digg day), go to the following link, amking sure to replace your_username with your actual username. Then, uncheck the Apple sub-topic, under Technology, and then save your preference changes.
http://digg.com/profileedit/your_username/topics - zybch, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6Well if that would remove Crapple stories from my RSS reader I'd do it, but alas that won't work.
All thats really needed is to make stories in the apple section need the same number of diggs as in every other category to reach the front page. As it is, the apple section appears to need far fewer diggs per story (yes, I know its more than just the number of diggs) than everywhere ease to get promoted! - jblade, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6What do you know, another digg post praising apple.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10@stalefries
nobody hates to see Apple topics, people hate seeing 10 topics on the same thing, an excess of speculative topics, and topics that amount to little more than regurgitated marketing fluff - GNiMeLF, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6Apple will always suck in the eyes of anyone who knows what is quality (price, specs wise and build quality); But it's another story for the blind consumer who get sucked in by media and the latest fads.
- mke01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what a ***** article. the first three "points" are pure conjecture. the second one appears to be patently false (based on other rumor sites out there). the only thing that's remotely accurate is that apple products are "slick."
what was the point of this journalistic abortion? it didn't make breakfast at all. - Eddy3oy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And I quote...
"Never have I seen so many people get so excited about a company's newest efforts to take their cash."
- muaddib420, on 10/12/2007, -18/+9i think you're right on all 3 counts... the movie store, 4inch 16:9 60gig "vi"pod and vid streaming airport.
- Jaq524, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2So this is the new TechEBlog, then?
- Turki, on 10/12/2007, -17/+9Wanna bet that Apple fanboys will digg this to death?
- Clbck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23One would think so, as that is the way Digg works. People vote for the stories they like, and it stands to reason that people who like Apple would digg this.
- SniperGX1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Isn't it a bit childish to troll the Apple section of digg to whine about people who like Apple news. What the crap did you think would appear in the Apple section anyways?
- Qoogirl, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I have the 6th way Apple will succeed with movie downloads: ravenous, insatiable Mac-lovers. This is not necessarily a bad thing. =)
Apple does things wrong occasionally, and still has a horde of fans rooting for them from the corners. Any company who is so loved by its consumers does well at mostly anything, whether or not it's really worth the hullabaloo.
I haven't purchased anything from iTunes that wasn't a free TV show pilot, but if they were to offer DVD-quality "behind the scenes"/"unplugged"/concerts from some popular music artists, I'd buy them. As it is, you can see something similar on AOLMusic for free, but have to stay connected to watch. - mhlester, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3@sniper: fruit?
- lucidmatt, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6I'm a Mac user, and a general fan of Apple products. And you know what? I STILL agree with you.
This is the umpteenth article in the past few days on the homepage that contains zero substance. There is nothing but speculation by lay people, speculation by pundits, speculation by bloggers.
Enough already folks. Lets wait till there's something to see, and then talk (or type) about it. - neosublime, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The reason digg is infested with apple fan boys like myself is that Safari took RSS mainstream first. Digg was one of my first RSS bookmarks.
- AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@SniperGX1
i understand what you mean but there's just one thing: THIS ISN'T NEWS, its shameless promotion of Apple by fanboys
and even if it was news, its already been covered to death, especially on Digg
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6geeks are into video, I think the majority of people buying ipods and macs dont do anything with video. Why do you think colored ipod minis sold so well..(they played music and were fun) Im hoping for colored ipod nanos!
- Qoogirl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3As much as I think Nintendo and Sony are trying to understand the power of PINK but have harnessed it badly...I can see myself buying a creme pink iPod nano.....=X
- IVIrMP3, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4 iPorn, anyone?
- DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Well, since Motorolla have been sending out invitations to an "after party" for tomorrow, I'd be inclined to assume that a phone will be revealed. But that's just hear-say... ; ]
- oskite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hah, you got modded way down. Even Apple fans are tired of hearing 'omg this time it's real'.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+61) make it easy.
2) make it easy.
3) make it easy.
4) make it easy.
5) make it work with the ipod..- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've never understood why people want to watch video on a 2" screen...
- compguy11, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3That article does a good job of making some valid points.
I didn't actually realize that Apple would be the only people to really be able to make a video store for any OS that has iTunes..so many Windows users already have iTunes for their iPod...so this is sounding better and better. - Hyprtime, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4This article was too light on any meaningful analysis for my digg.
- KillerX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Microsoft Windows Butt Monkey Lemming Fan Dorks please go whine some where else we're all tired of your Cult of Blind Ignorance and your constant crying, pissing and moaning.
- danieleran, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I hope this isn't taken as some sort of uncool thunder-stealing, but I wrote about a look at how Apple is succeeding in media downloads, and why competitors aren't. A major underlying reason is that Apple is behaving like Microsoft.
While Microsoft gets a lot of dings for anti-competitive behavior, they actually did a lot of things right in getting Windows established. Apple is doing many of the same things - universal "right ways" to establish a platform.
http://digg.com/apple/Why_Apple_is_Winning_in_Media_Downloads
Once of them is not trying to deliver impossible perfection, but simply shipping something and working to improving it; Apple isn't trying to deliver HD for example. Here's why:
http://digg.com/apple/A_Visual_Comparison_of_CD_DVD_HD_and_iTMS_Downloads - acjunglist203, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0More Kool Aid for the masses...Oh Yeah!!!
- acjunglist203, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Sugar not included...
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Mark my words, 10 years from now Apple will have left the PC market (I mean, what's the point) and be concentrating on making DRM friendly media centres. doesn't most of its money come from the Pod these days?
- Eddy3oy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Mark my words, 10 years from now Apple will have left the PC market (I mean, what's the point) and be concentrating on making DRM friendly media centres. doesn't most of its money come from the Pod these days?" ....hmmm, I believe Dvorak suggested pretty much the same thing a while back, although he suspects that they'll turn more towards a software only company with exception of the iPod
Anyway, I'm shocked that there's a story about movie downloads and yet not one person has yet mentioned BitTorrent.

- epitaphic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Anyway, I'm shocked that there's a story about movie downloads and yet not one person has yet mentioned BitTorrent.
Much the same reason people don't mention that you can stream all said movies to an xbox.
For about $100-150 you could be watching mother ***** Snakes on a mother ***** Plane on your huge Plasma screen with a chipped wireless xbox (or a $10 50meter cat5 cable) - AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i'm gonna look at their points for a second
1. Options ...they don't have the support of most of the major movie companies right now, just disney
2. Trust ...so the general public doesn't trust anyone but Apple now? that's just silly
3. Mobility ...that's not an advantage of the movie store itself and its obviously completely exclusive to the iPod, so where's the advantae for me? (i have a different brand)
4. Market Share ..."The mobile video market is almost non-existent at this point" oh COME ON. Bittorent's still doing great and Amazon already has a service, not to mention the few other ones that have been out for some time by now. that's just plain false
5. Style ...Style? this has even less to do with the movie store itself than the other reasons. you can get movies onto an ipod already so the movie store can't associate itself with the ipod and call that an advantage. "Apple has cool looking products." this is the pinnacle of shameless fanboy flaunting of apple's 'superiority.' If they think you need an iMac or iBook for this service they are just stupid, and if they think that people will choose iTunes movie store because of the look of the program, they are also completely clueless
sorry for trolling but THIS IS NOT NEWS and its not even true, so stop defending it like it is - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey gang, lets gather around the ol' ipod to watch a movie...
** a crowd of 20 people gather around a small ipod put on a coffee table **
And at $15 per download from itunes this 320x420 movie was a great
bargain.
