- smackydoodle, on 11/23/2008, -0/+17I have XP on my Mac via VirtualBox because testing web layouts is a must in Internet Explorer. I also like to watch free streaming sports, and the site I use has software that is incompatible with Mac, so I use it on XP. Why only have one when you can both?
- NYDannyWY, on 11/23/2008, -3/+19I'm enjoying my sunday!
- AvidPreatorian, on 11/23/2008, -4/+20Don't you have a virus to quarantine or something?

- kraetos, on 11/23/2008, -2/+17I'm tripping balls!
- atgmac, on 11/23/2008, -0/+14Macs run windows too.
- kreatre2007, on 11/23/2008, -0/+13You're stupid. Why do Windows users hate change? If you're looking for a "normal" computer go get one. The functions you talk about here aren't that important. I have an eject button on my keyboard. It would be silly to have one for a slot loading drive anyway. We also have page up and page down on our keyboards. Are you ***** blind? Have fun with your viruses and your UAC alerts. I will keep using my Mac that never crashes, never has viruses, always runs perfectly without restarts and, is far easier to use that that ***** called Windows.
- feanix, on 11/23/2008, -0/+13hey. wallpaper your house with money! aww... you can't afford to? you must be stupid...
- kreatre2007, on 11/23/2008, -1/+14The problem is that too many ignorant people have commented on this story. They're still operating on the Mac vs. PC myths that might have been true in some instances SEVERAL years ago but are certainly not true now. One big annoyance for me since I work as an Apple Consultant is when I go into a company that has Macs but is mostly Windows, the I.T. guys there have drawn all of these stupid and ignorant conclusions about what the Mac can and cannot do. I go in and bind all of the Macs to Active Directory, get Exchange working on all of them, setup file and print services and all of the other things that a Mac user needs to function in a corporate environment. They are shocked to see that not only do the Macs work great but, in some cases they work better for some things such as setting up printers. If a printer uses Apple's Bonjour technology (which most do these days), there is no problem finding it on the network. The Mac sees them easily. Just install the driver if it's not already on the Mac and map the printer. It's very simple. I also wow I.T. guys all the time by showing them that a server running Mac OS X Server can provide Exchange-like service, provide directory services similar to Active Directory, serve files and printers to Windows, etc, etc. There is so much ignorance out there that the Mac is often overlooked in the process of building a corporate network. I can setup a Mac server that can totally replace Exchange at a fraction of the cost of setting up Exchange. Idiots on Digg like to bash the Mac for being expensive but, compare the cost of Exchange to Kerio Mail Server running on a Mac with with Mac OS X Server unlimited client license. It's a lot less expensive and it provides the same functionality!!! So.... If you don't know the Mac well enough to comment on it, SHUT THE ***** UP!
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -1/+14Does anyone know what Quicksilver interface is featured in the screenshot?
- ddfall, on 11/23/2008, -8/+21I'm a Mac!!!.... errr... nvmd...
- bigbangbuddha, on 11/23/2008, -2/+14For everything else
- directive0, on 11/23/2008, -8/+20As pretentious and arrogant as this article is Quicksilver is an excellent app. Wish I had an analog of it for my windows/linux boxes.
- zdiggler, on 11/23/2008, -15/+26My friend switch to mac and say he'll never use windows again, just everything is going to be in mac. Nope yesterday I went there he got windows running on Parallels. heh Only apple software that get use on mac is email and safari.. nothing else..
- orthodoxDrew, on 11/23/2008, -0/+11how does VirtualBox compare to VMWare Fusion?
- rofflcopterr, on 11/23/2008, -9/+20You're friend's an idiot.
- atgmac, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10Last time I checked my iMac has these:
Right Click
Page Up/Down
Eject Button
Forward Delete
It also has media keys, cool eh? - hermes369, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10I didn't think Quicksilver, truly an awesome app, was still being developed; I wasn't using it to its potential though; now I just use Spotlight as an app launcher and it works fine for me. I agree these lists are annoying; but, apparently, they do generate traffic.
I'd recommend TextMate, and Growl (though Growl can get annoying at times). - Jambi, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10See, here's the thing... it really is all about the OS. You're right that PC hardware is cheaper, and in the past few years, I'd argue that PC manufacturers have caught up with Apple in terms of design (not all of them, mind you), except possibly with regards to keyboards. However, Windows is simply one hell of a clunker (both Vista and XP, XP less so). I've used every version of Windows since 3.11, along with a slew of other OSes, and have come to this conclusion: while Windows certainly has its share of useful features (some I wouldn't mind seeing on OS X), it's been designed by people who have no idea what an good interface is.
I'm not saying OS X is the end-all and be-all of UIs, but I would argue that it's the best on the market at the moment. It's polished, easy to modify, mostly consistent and has a reasonable set of defaults. Now, you might say that paying that much extra (since most people don't built Hackintoshes) is silly, but to those of us who use computers daily and intensively, the thousand niggling design mistakes in Windows add up, and get to be one hell of a chore to deal with. Couple those with the damned registry and it really does end up being more trouble than it's worth. I can only hope Windows finally gets the UI right with Windows 7, but from what I've seen so far, I'm not counting on it. I hope I end up being proven wrong. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+10Thank you.
- sexybobo, on 11/23/2008, -3/+12I do like that one of the items on this list is windows XP.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -1/+101 - It doesn't suffer from a constant barrage of virus and spyware attacks.
2 - It doesn't inexplicably become slower just because its a few months old.
3 - It doesn't come loaded with trial ware that you will have to spend an hour trying to remove.
4 - It will still be worth something in 3 years time if you want to sell it. - soulpatch, on 11/23/2008, -3/+12i agree. these lists are ***** stupid. "10 ________'s you must do." "25 top _______'s you need". blah blah blah. lord god - when is a cracked.com digg going to show up? oh yea - it's the weekend and their staff is off work - so i guess they won't.
- braveryonions, on 11/23/2008, -3/+12FairGame won't work with the newer iMovie... *cries*
- diggimator, on 11/23/2008, -0/+9Just use Transmission
- kelchm, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8not true.
You can losslessly remove DRM. - Gr1nch, on 11/23/2008, -5/+13and clouds are white? Tell me something I don't know.
When did you upgrade from grape drink? - SurrealDream, on 11/23/2008, -1/+9I don't have a high paying job, I just went on the Mac diet. I figured, I get to look smart and "with it" and loose a bit of weight at the same time.
Turns out not eating enough calories actually makes you fatter and ruins your skin.
So now I'm a fat, spotty mac user. And the obscenely bright display on my mac highlights all the imperfections :( - Halokhan, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8*cough* *****! *cough*
- xsacha, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8You joking? There is a quicksilver app for windows and another one for linux. They have been around for years. Check google.
