- markwilcox, on 03/07/2008, -4/+43Does MrBabyMan submit anything except lists?
- MrMacMan, on 03/07/2008, -2/+24a) why should i be scared of you
b) I stuck you at neutral 0 diggs. Suck on that. - inactive, on 03/07/2008, -2/+20So which app prevents you from submitting ***** stories?
- dcmusicfusion, on 03/07/2008, -0/+11I like the idea of using backpackit or Google docs to keep a list.
Alternatively, I think iGTD is sweet. And Jott and Awayfind are great mobile apps. - Gabberwok, on 03/07/2008, -0/+10To hell with getting things done, I need more distractions...
- rathofbuns, on 03/07/2008, -2/+12This is a great list if you're into online/digital methods. Personally, I like to have my to-do system with me all the time so I've come prefer an old-school Moleskine pocket notebook.
http://www.LivSimpl.com - TheKrillr, on 03/07/2008, -0/+8sadly you still need a spellchecker.
- dragazis, on 03/07/2008, -0/+82 amazing items for getting things done: notebook to write a list and a pen to write and check things off the list :)
- bjornski, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7Spore is coming for your iPhone....
- chrislee149, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7If you're just a casual user who needs to remember things and stay on track but doesn't like this GTD system, try Anxiety:
http://www.anxietyapp.com/
It's a simple to-do list using the built-in Leopard to-do framework that's present in iCal and Mail. And it's awesome. - Kajico, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5OR, don't switch to kubuntu instead install KDE desktop onto OS X and then build and run Kontact. If people don't want to build from terminal, use Fink.
- augustwest30, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4Here is a great GTD method that I find works really well. I can keep it with me at all times in my pocket. I can add items at any time, and I can check off things as I complete them. This ingenious piece of productivity technology is called a pen and a piece of paper.
- deiphobus, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4I find it amusing that every application for OS X or anything Apple made is immediately proclaimed amazing.
- canthraxp, on 03/07/2008, -3/+7I guess you're getting buried by fanboy haters. Your initial post it's pretty much like when an apple fanboy goes to a windows/linux thread and says "get a mac".
Anyway, I partially agree, getting-things-done apps are abundant, as most of them are easy to program (I know someone will complaint about that, attach a /subjective tag), so I wouldn't be urged to take the wallet out for one of them, or for that matter, download kubuntu/get_a_mac to do it.
-writing on ubuntu. - melvin_u, on 03/07/2008, -3/+7MrBabyMan can suck my left nut...or my right nut. Actually, it's whatever he prefers. Because we all know how much he really sucks.
- zioxide, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4Or you could just use the built-in OS X to-do system that's integrated in to Mail and iCal.
- Archer007, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4Which 95% of people will never use.
- fucter, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3whoa, people still use computers?
- mannymix03, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3Looking at this list of apps for getting things done, is really cutting into me doing my work :D
- bjornski, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Ok, enough burying your pointing us to your profile page. Time to just ***** block you entirely.
If we wanted to see your profile, we'd just click your damned name. It's not a tagline. - CharlesSaint, on 03/07/2008, -11/+13"It looks and works great, but the drawback is the high price: $79.95." "The full version (for $49) is scheduled to come out sometime this Spring..." "Has a free 14-day trial, then costs $35 for a single license.." Total cost = $163.95 for a To-Do list manager, outline note helper, and a Task Manager (admittedly, they do look pretty sleek).
Or just download Kubuntu (or any other KDE-compliant distro) and use Kontact ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontact ). Price = $0
Your choice. - MacParrot, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2For running Mac apps? Seems an odd choice.
- pixelbender, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Dugg for the lovely basic text layout.
- shadowsurfr1, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2I highly recommend Schoolhouse for anyone in college / high school. Has everything I need.
- MacParrot, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Really? You boot into Windows on a Mac just to use "to do" software? Doesn't that take longer?
- deaftly, on 03/07/2008, -1/+3baahhh iSheep baahhhh baahhhh
- MacParrot, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Buried and reported for spamming
- znicket, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Dugg for the .txt inclusion at the end. Simply write things down.
- alceria, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Thank god I'm a lazy pc user and don't have to bother getting anything done.
- negativefx, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2how many times does this ***** use the word super?
- MonkeyFarts, on 03/07/2008, -1/+2Sorry, but I dugg you down because I hate when people make those "or switch to xyz!" comments. They contribute *nothing* to the article discussion when the topic is about a completely different operating system. Mac users aren't going to care about Kubuntu and Kontact because they use OS X. And they can also use a GTD app that costs $0 and requires no additional software; it's called iGTD (or Schoolhouse, or iProcrastinate, etc.) I'm glad you like Kubuntu and all, but really, lay off on telling people what to use. It's annoying.
Disclaimer, since I know it's needed: I'm writing this on Ubuntu. When I'm on OS X, I use iGTD. When I'm on Ubuntu, I'll use Kontact. Windows? Well, I only use Windows for games. I guess that's the opposite of getting things done. =) - dbr_onix, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1Gah, any "GTD" application will slow one down. It's not really "getting things done" - it's closer to "planning and organizing how one will get things done when you stop planning and start actually doing things"
Better productivity list (theoretically infinite list of amazing Mac apps or getting things done!):
Web design: [text editor] or [web IDE]
Graphic design: [photoshop or similar]
Writing: [text editor] or [word processor]
..that said, I do use iCal's built in todo list sometimes - a single "Todo" calender, which I add things in via Anxiety (so I don't need to keep launching iCal, and it looks shiny) - no $80 application, no contexts, no actions, no scripting... I just shove stuff in there if I think I might forget, but don't have a specific time to do it by - natenovs, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1ever heard of parellels?
- natenovs, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1why, because i found a task management system that works for me? okay.
- WoollyMittens, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1This is ZZZzz-tastic. Porn for project managers?
- nateisablog, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1None of those apps will help you get your s**t done! LOL Check this out.
http://nosesplash.com/nate-is-a-blog/38-nate-is-a- ... - inactive, on 03/07/2008, -3/+4I didn't know macs were productive. Anyone that can't get around in Outlook considering 2007 changes needs their head examined.
- bfrank72, on 03/07/2008, -1/+2Did anyone else think "yeah...but then I'd feel inclined to do something..."
- iericg, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1I just set-up my custom rig on my Mac and it KICKS ASS!!!
* Set up an Organization Management Directory that contains "ToDo's", "Projects", & "Dialy Logs" on multiple text files
* The text files are viewed on my Desktop through "GeekTools"
* Installed "Remind" (Terminal Application) and display the Calendar on my Desktop with GeekTools (Shell Command)
* Access my OMD files and my "Remind.txt" through Quicksilver
* Created a cool B/W Background picture of a bunch of Penguins at SeaWorld
It took a while to set-up but now I feel like I have my own custom Project Management "Desktop" Application. It's SUPER lightweight, easy to manage, better than any damn GUI Widget, and FULLY customizable. Having text plastered to your desktop is like the equivalent to a magnetic sign posted on your refrigerator.
My next project is to replace the text files with a small PHP Page. By using MAMP and CURL (Terminal Command) I can display dynamic web pages directly on my desktop. This should make it even easier for me to edit or update all of my content. At the same time store everything in localized database. I know this might seem like even more work but once it's set-up it'll be super easy to manage and fully customizable. - Tippis, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Most of them, yes.
- MacParrot, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1It's the only way people will EVER pay attention to him.
- diggerman32, on 03/07/2008, -2/+2The McSkillet ads are starting to piss me off... shame on you digg
http://bayimg.com/baJEjaaBC - mhmdkhamis, on 05/30/2008, -0/+0I always love hearing about these apps that will help you get things done, but then often cause you to spend more time organizing and preparing how you're going to get things done than actually sitting down and getting things done.
