Is this the "AFTER" picture following use of the phone with the typical greasy faced geek? - futzy99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Wait, so does it still make phone calls?
- Oakes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Where's the camera?

No!! The only prototype! He's gonna eat it! - lucask, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Digg is a product of it's users, Digg didn't die, creativity did.

its on the top, called the audio port. Its plenty big enough for YOUR size. - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16that guy wants to lick it
- rompom7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Ugh, this is what I hate about Apple zealots. They think because someone doesn't praise Apple unquestionably, that they are Microsoft fanboys.
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22I think I just had an accident in my panties :O
- Brereton55, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20If Apple released a self induced poison Apple fanboys would still buy it
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15There's a simple reason why Apple stuff is like hotcakes... it's worth getting excited over. There's a whole aura... and culture built around Mac. It's a premium product company that makes very shiny technology that works as well as it looks, and they market it incredibly well. Not to mention Steve Jobs is a ***** incredibly charismatic little bastard. He's a very talented man with a brilliant mind... Admittedly, he's also a huge *****; but there's always that ***** you can't help but love. He and Woz invented the personal computer, and years later, it was Jobs who revived Apple from the dead and brought it to life again. People can't help but respect that.
I only own a PC, but I have to admit that not much that Microsoft or Dell makes is really worth getting excited about. I grew up on Windows, but after learning OS X in school, I understand why so many people are adamant about it. Today I use a Mac at work and a PC at home, and I also own an iPod... what will my next computer be? A Macbook Pro, that's for sure.
It's the same with Nintendo recently. Everyone was Sony's fanboy after the PS2... but the PS3 was a big disappointment and the Wii was really and truly something to get excited about.
What people get excited about, they digg. And obviously it's not a rare thing, as so many other diggers share the same beliefs. If you don't like Apple stories, just turn off the Apple category - simple as that. If you don't like Linux stories, turn off the Linux category.
If you can't understand any of this, then 'see ya'. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13If you have to ask, you're not Apple's market...
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16$499-599
they will probably sell much better than the PS3. - lucask, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11/golfclap
- iching, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Zirconia case was supposed to be a part of the patent which is a very tough material that is hard to scratch.
I wonder why it was mentioned so many times earlier that we haven't read anything about the material being used in the case and screen? The screen from what I read was made of this also and the phone wouldn't' make it unless they the scratch problem was solved.
Photos look great btw. - jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13wow, and there's a guy with a white chocolate phone...i didnt think any self respecting guy would have one
the backlight is -pink- for chrissakes. - Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13dminisher has 4 stories dugg.
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16I've been waiting so long for this day. I was beginning to doubt the existance of the Apple Phone. I wasn't dissapointed.
This is truly a revolutionary phone. I think this will set a new industry standard for smart phones. - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10What you don't see is that it has photoluminescent paint so it changes colors based on the light...I'm not talking light blue to dark blue, I'm talking black to red... and as for it not being innovative, well it has a holographic projection screen so you can use like the jedi council does in star wars... Oh and did I mention it is completely impervious to water, fire, wind, drops of less than 60 feet, and your greasy fingers....as a matter of fact it has a coating that actually kills the bacteria on contact, so it never gets dirty...and every iPhone sold gets it's own satellite so you always have singal
- lucask, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8what does that even mean
- black|math, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Is it just me or does this seem like a bit much. Its got great features and the technology is really cool. But navigating through a few screens to get to a numpad is crazy. Most people cannot dial and drive as it is.
- lucask, on 10/12/2007, -3/+94 stories dugg: 1 apple, 2 dell, and one linux on an IBM, 2 of which he submitted.

I think a Sony fanboy is getting a little hot under the collar. ;)
Just because your system sucked doesn't mean you have to be angry about it... - tomarocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Battery life won't really be a issue until the iDildo is released.
- tomarocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How much is insurance on one?
- scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Zirconia is a type of ceramic, afaik. I thought they said today that it had a ceramic case, I might just have imagined it though.
- whosyourtator, on 10/12/2007, -12/+16I think the guy in the picture is saying, "We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses. Wicked, tricksy, false! "
- mil8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4these pics suck!
- Dugon143, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11I HOPE ITS EDIBLE !!!!!!
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think he's referring to the fact that Microsoft sent them Zunes and sponsored a couple eps of Diggnation... or something like that for some asinine reason.
- CircleFusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I believe the quality if the carrier is relative to the city.
I used T-Mobile in Tucson, AZ and I had great coverage. Now I live in Louisville, KY and the T-Mobile coverage isn't very good, so I switched providers. Cingular coverage is pretty good here and I will probably switch to them when my current contract is up. - Freeskier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My Eyes! Ze goggles do Nothing!
- malliemcg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And then the carrier blocks that IMEI associated with the phone and it becomes an insta brick. Sure a PITA, but there has to be some satisfaction that noone can use it after its been pinched.
Currently most of the phones in .AU are GSM, although combined 3G/GSM phones are popping up a bit and they still use a SIM.
M - shm0edawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i've owned pda and multimedia phones for 2 years starting with the palm treo 600, then to treo 650, then to ppc 6600 then to 6700, then to blackberry 7100 then motorola Q and i got so sick of the bulkiness of those phones and how they're all stuffed with features that most people will use for 5 minutes and never use ever again. Most of the phones felt awkward to hold, especially the Q because it was so thin. I realized after a couple years that owning a phone to make calls makes more sense than owning a phone to launch a nasa satellite. I was always looking for the "oooh, aaahh" factor in a phone. It's not worth it. A phone makes calls. An mp3 player plays music. I'm going more toward function and simplicity these days. Plus, imho I think the iphone is rather ugly. The blackjack looks nicer and i like the fact that it has buttons. I didn't really notice any buttons on the iphone. If they're ALL touchscreen, that will get annoying very quickly. I for one am done with big brick multimedia phones, no matter how shiny, how thin, or how many songs i can put on it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm pretty sure you didn't.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Well is the iPod really that innovative either? It's a rectangle with a screen. There's only so much you can do with currently technology.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I believe they chose zirconia because it is radio transparent and therefore good for the wireless reception. It also happens to look amazing.
- whoamitoyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i wonder if you can use skype on it and can you use it overseas... would be nice
- LanceHardenburg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I second that motion
- superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It lacks "personality"? Just look at it in operation in the keynote!
The personality of a device comes when you turn it on. Also, if you examine the edges a bit more you'll see some of the device personality in evidence even when off...
I think you're just concerned that because the device is not very anthromoric looking when off, it lacks presence... I don't think that will be the case in person. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What a very original thing to say ,
….
I clap for you - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those picture sizes resemble all other iPhone pics I've seen today, and blurrier to boot.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The display turns off when you bring the phone up to your ear - there are proximity sensors... So, I doubt you'll end up pushing anything with your cheek...
But yeah, I can definitely see facial oil being an issue.
You know what this means, though; the 3rd-party market has new leather cases with screen protectors to make. - tdkyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am curious about the battery life, but it does look nice. :-)
