- boozedrinker, on 11/04/2009, -1/+68Most of these solutions only seem to come with a price...It's like a big ad for a bunch of different software.
- theaverageidiot, on 11/05/2009, -1/+42"50 Common Mac Problems For Those Who Don't Know How To Use Google Solved"
There, I fixed it. - tanmaker, on 11/05/2009, -15/+53Buried as inaccurate. Mac's don't have problems.
- Shinku3, on 11/05/2009, -0/+30Is it just me or is this a list of applications you can buy?
- Phatlip012, on 11/05/2009, -0/+29I GUESS THIS IS A COOL LIST, BUT IT DOESN'T HELP ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO TURN CAPS OFF.
- BREZZZ, on 11/05/2009, -1/+28Generic forced comment.
- Impius, on 11/05/2009, -5/+31Wait...Mac's don't have problems....
</sarcasm> - Orbital101, on 11/05/2009, -2/+28They appear to have apostrophes, though.
- spworm, on 11/05/2009, -0/+23software you don't need, or can get free elsewhere.
- L0NER, on 11/05/2009, -9/+32but I thought it just works?
- nissansupragtr, on 11/05/2009, -15/+38My solution: Get windows
let the burying begin - molamann, on 11/05/2009, -3/+25"I can't run Crysis"
Forever unsolved. - jeffsters, on 11/05/2009, -0/+20This is ONE BIG ad and it ignores built-in tools or freeware alternatives!
For example #8
Tells us to "Get HoudahSpot ($25, www.houdah.com), which lets you create extremely detailed search requests and customize the results to your liking."
While ignoring that MUCH of what HoudahSpot does is built into the Finder's "Find" command under the File menu! Just keep clicking the "+" button and you can add all kinds of content and meta data criteria.
Anyway, sure there are some good products here, but the 80/20 rule applies and for many there are no cost options that fit the bill just fine. - commenter01, on 11/05/2009, -2/+19/s
- Apex3, on 11/05/2009, -4/+20Dugg for admitting to 50 problems.
- peterjmag, on 11/05/2009, -2/+17Check out iCocoaCapsLockAway ($25)
- jv2k, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15Mac can't do X
Buy this program!
Crappy solutions I'd rather bury than read the rest. - Phatlip012, on 11/05/2009, -0/+14Why not? I already have the other 31 systems, right?
;) - newl, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13That is because they are just as possessive as their owners. :)
- MtheoryX, on 11/05/2009, -3/+14Enable two finger touch on trackpad to be right-click:
System Preferences > Trackpad > "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click" > Stop Bitching about Right Click - TrancePhreak, on 11/05/2009, -1/+11BILLY MAYS HERE WITH ANOTHER GREAT PRODUCT TO HELP FIX PROBLEMS WITH YOUR MAC.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 11/05/2009, -1/+11This works with Windows all the time.
Delete system32 - doctorgrim, on 11/05/2009, -6/+15I thought Mac's didn't have problems.
- spworm, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9Summary:
1-50: RTFM + buy some unnecessary software, which we think you'll buy because you're computer illiterate. - Nakket, on 11/05/2009, -1/+8I'm typing this on a Macbook, which I use all the time, but to call me a fanboy is misleading.
I realize Apple has many shortcomings, just as this list. I didn't even read the rest after I saw the first "solution" encompassed spending $40 - jeffsters, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7you need to get out more...
- strictnein, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Look at all these spam comments. They're not even trying.
- SmilinChris, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6I'm sorry, are you from the Paast?
- jeffsters, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6BTW: #10 says to buy Cocktail, which is a great tool but the freeware Onyx does much of what Cocktail does!
- Orbital101, on 11/05/2009, -4/+10Dude. It's not 1998 anymore. Get some new stuff to complain about.
- slash1890, on 11/05/2009, -4/+10How about fixing the price tag?
- HeizeusX, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6That's the abridged title. The full version is: "50 Common Mac Problems That No One Really Has, But We Need To Pretend Exist For This Article So We Can Get Them Dolla Bills From Our Advertisers."
- Rkstar, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6When the CD is stuck in the drive, open the terminal and type "drutil eject". Much faster and easier than restarting the computer.
- snipe123, on 11/05/2009, -2/+6you sounded just like my girl friend.
Please don't give me this mac propaganda crap come with real argument.
Mac OS is not only good because its supposed to be virus free
PS: the thing i dont like about Mac OS is not the OS work fine
it's the users, some gets on my nerves so much? - robwhite1979, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5How to fix your Mac for several low easy payments of 9$-99$...
- plutonium28, on 11/05/2009, -1/+599% of problems solved:
zap the pram -- hold p+r+option+command - junaeroplane, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5i dont see a reason why theres 2 buttons on a windows laptop. 2 finger touch for right click is so amazing and fluid. same with 2 finger scrolling! this is starting to sound dirty.
- Hellicus, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5/facepalm
- theaverageidiot, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5Generalizing Apple, Microsoft, or Linux users is lame.
I have never found Apple users to be more computer ignorant than any other type of user in real life. In fact, since they have a computer different than most, they seem to usually be MORE aware of things like that since they had to go out of their way to make their choice. - unknamed, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Wow--no it wasn't.
- ttamshadbolt, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3whats with your comment before this one?
- Orbital101, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Of all the anti-Mac complaints I hear, the two-button thing isn't just the most out-of-date, it's also the most petty... because you can plug any two-button USB mouse into a Mac and it'll work (without drivers... scroll-wheel, too). This has been the case for about 9 years. If this is the only thing you've got, you need to work on your anti-Mac game.
- Phatlip012, on 11/05/2009, -2/+5There's been right click functionality for quite a while now. Hell, they even have a ton of cool multi touch gestures you can use, but you're complaining about a right click when it's existed for years now?
2 fingers on trackpad. Click. Really, is it THAT hard? - atromos, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Take out the word "like" and your comparison turns into a true statement!
- baldick, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3I only glanced over the list but it seems most of these have free alternatives. It would have been a much better list with the free alternatives included.
- blest, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3The only solution you need to fix all your Mac problems.... DON'T BUY ONE!
- A11YND, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I thought they just worked..
- bjornski, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2@boozedrinker
No kidding, and the top 7 comments in the thread sound like they're coming from people who either were paid to post them, or get paid when those programs being advertised get sold.
This submission sucks. - rumblpak, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I upgraded to snow leopard and honestly it feels like vista for me. EVERYTHING on my mac slowed to a crawl. If you're on a mac stick to leopard and don't waste the $30 like I did.
- moonboots, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I logged into the guest account and now I can't find my files. Where did they go?
