http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1710 - Timjacobs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Why would anyone want to watch a video on a nano
- trisomy21, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23Sweet, now I can lose my eyesight as well. I heard that Apple will be marketing the new nano with video as the iHelenkeller.
- Rummey, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15I had to press "Show comment" in order to down digg your comment, and it was worth it.
Mike - walugi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Methinks the only people who'll buy the Video Nano are trendwhores. Ipod Video is worthless in most countries.
For example, take Australia. We have no TiVO, and a sorry excuse for itunes. Anyone who watches 20gigs worth of video probably downloads it illegally in xvid. Who in their right mind would convert hours and hours worth of video into another format when it's already conveniently packaged in an avi container with an accepted and efficient codec? I don't understand why Apple doesn't add additional codec support like the Creative Vision
Is it because we're an island? - bobbywan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5what, didn't you hear? the Nintendo Wii controller is supposed to have a 40Gig hard drive and a headphone jack with an Apple Logo next to it. It's the NintApple iWii
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I, sir, laugh at you.
Ha - SniperGX1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I sware people aren't even trying to come up with believable rumors anymore. A nano with video? Why not say Apple is going to merge with Nintendo? or Apple is releasing a PDA? or Apple is going to produce the optimus keyboard.
- bbrosemer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It would be kinda useful to use the Nano more so to play the videos on a TV and just use the Nano as a way to carry the videos around. But then again 4 and 8 gb dont hold to many movies.
- ohnnyj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I already have videos on my nano via iPod Linux.
It isn't as bad as you might think. Definetely something nice to have along on my bus rides into school. - bbrosemer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey dont forget its called the iflea Accesory Kit with 750x izoom Visual Enlargment Device.

I am a fellow Aussie and I agree 100% with you.
I refuse to be sold on this Apple madness. I went out and bought a Zen Vision M, its awesome, I dont give a stuff its not 3 mm thick and all white with one silly button. I want it to do useful stuff and it does. It plays DIVX and XVID flawlessly, the sound quality is amazing and the screen quality (even though small) is awesome and way better than the Apple video Ipud.
Apple supporting XVID and DIVX yeah sure - when Hell freezes over.
Spread the word mate! - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The screensize would need to increase (Duh). But considering the nano is Flash Based, increasing the screen size wouldn't effect the battery life too much. And apple probably would increase the battery life anyway, just like with most iPod updates.
- jacks0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's terrific! At last I won't have to use my ipod shuffle to view the latest episodes of 'Lost'.
Just joking... :-/ - toran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love how most of the people who use Digg have such poor grammar.
- PRESS_00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Don't know why you people are dismissing additional functionality... Having a smaller screen means that the conversion times are even going to be shorter!
- navvvv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4digg deja vu strikes again. its my morning coffee ritual, read digg and think it's yesterday.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Part of me just died.
- Flooq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Shuffle flop? IIRC it helped Apple take a nice chuck of the flash audio player market.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Korean Cowon A2 supports Xvid and Divx. It also has amazing Battery Life.
http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/a2/ - EdwardsNH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Video? Well, it would be nice if it had a video out line. I could save myself from burning a disk for something I'm only going to watch once, or bring over someone's house.
Would the nano's size prohibit such a feature? - TheRebel88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wonder if it will come with the new apple iMagnifying Glass
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://ipodxp.ytmnd.com/
- ZennZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14gb Nano is now available at $249.
- ohnnyj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, they are uncompressed (but not from LinuxPod, I use a handy utility called mopid http://joeyjwc.x3fusion.com/software/mopid/index.php ). Unfotunately, having a 75MHz process limits the iPods ability to do uncompression.
- Mithrander, on 10/12/2007, -16/+17I swear, everytime Apple farts everyone soils themselves in response...
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The "nano people?"
Wait no, more "PC"... um how should i say.. ah, the "Vertically Challenged People" - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can see the full value of it if the iPod is hooked up to the telivision, but just watching on the subway is irrational.
- fliped, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If anyone has checked the apple websites front page.. it says over 150 tv shows now on itunes and the shows are all on nanos...
- JuliusErving, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22 things to consider here:
1) The nano already has the ability to run video, apple just needs to provide a software update for it.
2) I think we can all agree that there is no reason why someone would want to watch video on that small of a screen! - RWVolkl158, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You are the "stupiest" one of all. Seriously though, at least take the time to read before you post...
- JustEvk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Nano nano.
- soundgardens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If they Apple can make the screen bigger and wheel smaller im there
- dslinfreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok... So what happens to those of us who do already have the iPod nano 4gb and want video? Then what? Personally... I don't want to put linux on my iPod and void the warenty. Granted, I do love linux, but not enough that if my iPod breaks that I can't get the damned thing replaced.
As for this ***** about Windows being on the iPod... that's never going to happen. Microsoft and Macintosh are life long enemies. The only reason iTunes and Quicktime were made for windows is because it's the most widely used operating system in the world. I don't think Macintosh is going to risk damaging there reputation putting an operating system on a good product and getting a ***** load of complaints that the iPod blue screened on them.
Now... if Macintosh would give you a choice of actually loading the normal firmware or linux so that you don't void the warenty, I'm all for that. Mac's run on unix and FreeBSD mods, so they shouldn't have any problem with linux on an iPod, esspecially since unix, FreeBSD, and Linux are distant reletives.
Now... if only Macintosh can come up with a memory expansion for the nano... hmmmmmmm - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder if the iMagnifying Glass will ship separately?
iPod Nano Video...stupiest invention ever - dreamflux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Could they make the music in this commercial any more annoying? At first it's cute, then oh my god shut up.
http://www.commerciallygreen.com/2007/09/20/ipod-n ... - jimmy87lee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Are your videos uncompressed files from LinuxPod?
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6@ trisomy21 - "...will be marketing the new nano with video as the iHelenkeller."
- A.K.A. the iWAWA
@ Submiter - "I'm not sure if the nano screen is ideal for video's."
- Yeah, I agree... not the "current" nano screen... - fuxjoey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1nano with video? no thanks. the screen is too small for any videos. why not wait for the Touch Sreen Video ipod.
- timbudtwo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I think this will be another shuffle flop. Maybe it will do well if it comes with a magnifier. And a second arm.
- pgorley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Got spellcheck? Of course not. Who would think to check their grammar and spelling before submitting an article?
Idiots. - Astrayred, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Sweet!
- fzzzy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://angryflower.com/bobsqu.gif
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Watching a video on the nano would be hopeless. Album art is hard enough as it is, I cannot imagine watching for more than a minute on a screen that small. Of course the kiddies will love this so they can beat it in the bathroom xD
And Engadget didn't write the analysis.. - jimthetaff, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3DUPLICATE STORY WTF???
- metajoe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0There is no need to watch video clips of random ***** on those Ipods.
- theoallardyce, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2iPods will be dead as soon as Apple releases their first phone. In about 3 years muggers won't bother stealing your iPod they'll just laugh at you.
